Re: Hurley is staying
Too many pink glasses on this board. I see Zero close game wins, I see point guard out of control driving into the trees. I see pick and rolls with no passes. I see dribble, dribble with 4 spectators, I see players on bench with little chance of development, I see time outs with no results, I see su...

Re: Coaching Additions
What is the definition of Coach?
What player development have we seen?
Iffy coached and developed could have been what Rod and many saw in his first game.
The problem is with the head not the body.

Re: Poll:: what is the reason we are losing these close game
My choice is F.
No Fn coach
Dan is not his father,
Dan is not his brother,
Dan is ???????
He should have been fired when he changed Running Rams to Ram Tough.
How did the administration allow that.
Move game back to Keaney, rent out RC to PC, Pay out Dan with the profits.
Bring Preston home.

I love the play after time out when hurley tried to change the game to keep-away. Didn't
work like any of his plays.

Re: 2015 Coaching Carousel
MY last post I said I would not post any more but....... I can't resist about the coaching subject. I was for Preston before Hurley came. Preston had sufficient experience and connections to do the job. Preston recruited well for Baron and great for Hurley and it continued for BC. The fact is that w...

I am a novice at posting on this site.
My post makes sense. I am not a novice of the game.
I have been a URI fan long before some of you posters were born.
You will not hear from me again... reading this site is entertaining enough.

Re: State of the Program/Our Fan's Sanity
No big man coach?
No inside out game for better shots?
No better inside defense?
No top 100 Center?
If we had one of the above this season we could be dancing now.

I hope the big man coming is a big man coach who can teach the
guards (and Hurley) how to involve the big man more. And also to get Iffy
off the bench and Jordan Hare back on the TEAM.....

Re: Game #16: @ Massachusetts - Saturday 2:30pm
We have outside shooters but when you scout URI you know that there will be infrequent passes inside and you can stay on you man. When we do pass inside it never comes back out because the big man is so happy to finally get a pass that he forces his shot at the basket. Even if your big is not great ...

Re: Game #16: @ Massachusetts - Saturday 2:30pm
Rod I know the problem. Dan wears glasses that blocks out big men. He says he has no confidence in freshman Garret. EC is a force and can do no wrong. Garrett shot 29 of 30 3 pointers in is interview with Preston. You think if he wasn't looking over his shoulder he could do better. I am not a coach ...

Re: HEY DAN - PRACTICE FTS PLS
Poor foul shooting is only one problem our players have. Even more important is the passing to the open man. Hassan is a work horse getting open and not getting the ball. Hassan does great despite this . EC's passing to the open man would better his game big time and allow him less contested shots C...

Re: Game #6: Georgia Tech Yellowjackets - ESPNU - GameDay!!
What exactly is Dan' style of play? Where is the inside game? where is the catch and shoot play? Why do we miss the open man? Why do we foul so much at the 3 pt line? Why do we pick at the 3 pt line and get nothing for it? no open shot ,no pick and roll passy Where is the 10-15 jumper? What sense do...

Role that matches skill set!!!! This is a key to it all. We have players that have exceptional skills.
Will they be able to improve on it or will they be forced to change? Improve on what you are best at
is my choice.

Re: Our Best Back To Back Recruiting Cycle Ever?
1999 URI went to Hawaii invitational. Gerry asked Luther what should we do? Answer , run all plays thru me and we will be ok. They did and they won. The team came back , then went to Wisconsin . Marbury, per unknown instruction had to be the star. That was the end of Luther's career. What came after...

Re: Our Best Back To Back Recruiting Cycle Ever?
We have the best 2 yr recruiting for sure. The question is how will they develop into a TEAM. The final 8 team got there because unselfish team play. Each player played their role It started with a dominant center defensively , and unselfish offensively. The double and triple team defense against us...

Re: New Assistant Coach candidates
When Baron was getting replaced, my candidate was Preston. I think I was right. He would have had a big man coach on his staff. He understands the importance of inside play development. He got us Hare. He played with Clay and Reynolds Dean, dominant inside players who worked together as unselfish te...

Interesting comments by all . We as fans just want a good competitive URI Basketball program to support. Preston Murphy leaving is no surprise to me. The extra money is a no brainer. Re: RUMORS: Shaka Smart to Marquette? (and other Coach moves
John Wooden story holds the key. Granted they had Jabbar, and Walton, but the supporting team knew exactly what to do down to the last player on the bench. We had Green and Clay , not as good as Jabbar and Walton but a supporting team that made it happen and they had specific talent that was well use...

Re: RUMORS: Shaka Smart to Marquette? (and other Coach moves
I se indecision due to confusion caused by to many options. Division I basketball is tough fast paced play. I am not a coach but I watch a lot of basketball and enjoy good play that pays off. Plays only work if they are done well by each player. Why bother with different plays if they break down bec...

URI for the last 15 years had many player that came into the program and left no better than they came in. Player development has been poor to non existing. And thank you to those who helped it happen.
