Wolf is Yale’s best player. And he played in that game.

I’m watching it. Very impressive.
Also Utah State wins by 16 over TCU. Utah State plays Purdue next on Sunday

They are playing really well, Reef. Impressive on D.
Utah State, too. I like their PG Brown. Excellent floor general. We need a PG like that. Hopefully it will be Hammond.

That was not the discussion. This was PeterRamTime Tome responding to R15 who said URI beat Yale but Yale was missing their best player.
Yale played last night with their 3 all conference guys and those 3 also played in the URI-Yale game. Mbeng, Poulakidis and Wolf. Wolf was 1st team and Mbeng was Defensive POY.

He may have been referring to Knowling (missed our game) who was their top player the previous season and 1st Team All-Ivy 22-23.ramster wrote: ↑2 months agoThat was not the discussion. This was PeterRamTime Tome responding to R15 who said URI beat Yale but Yale was missing their best player.

Still a good win for us, we didn't have many.

Maybe so but this was about this year. And for this year the 3 best players I mentioned were all named 1st or 2nd team All Ivy.Jersey77 wrote: ↑2 months agoHe may have been referring to Knowling (missed our game) who was their top player the previous season and 1st Team All-Ivy 22-23.ramster wrote: ↑2 months agoThat was not the discussion. Could also say URI was without their best player in David Green who was not eligible yet and didn’t play against Yale
Yale was an excellent win for URI either way and looking even better now.

Yeah, that may have been our only real high point, aside of course from winning our first 3 conference games.ramster wrote: ↑2 months agoMaybe so but this was about this year. Re: 2024 NCAA/NIT Post Season Tournaments - All Things
Our best win of the year. And that was early in the year after a disappointing performance at the Mohegan Sun. Down 12 at the half and played a great second half and the Ryan Center was rocking. I can't believe how we went from that effort to the most pathetic effort I have even seen in the Ryan Center in the game against Brown a mere 11 days later. Jekyll and Hyde. But one team Yale got better like most well coached teams do and the other one got much worse, and dare say they quit on their coach. You can blame the players for this but this is the second straight year this has happened. We were 6-2 after that game, 9 - 7 after beating UMass and ended up 12-20. For the second straight year, there was a ton of internal turmoil on the team that showed down the stretch. This is much deeper than just better players. This team was not nearly as bad as they played in the last month of the season. Archie has to look in the mirror and change his approach with his players. People laugh at Jerrod Mayo when he said he wanted his players to first feel like he valued and cared about them. But in 2024, that is important. Even Tom Izzo, one of the greatest and most hard ass coaches there is, talked about how he had to change due to the new rules. Unless this happens with Archie, I do not see this situation getting much better sadly.bigappleram wrote: ↑2 months agoWolf is Yale’s best player. And he played in that game.

URI played seven opponents that made the NCAA field. Five of these came from the thirteen OOC games Rhody played. All but one of these seven teams (Charleston) won their first NCAA game and advanced. URI actually beat two of the opponents that won NCAA games (Wagner & Yale)
Wagner
Northwestern
Wash State
Yale
Charleston
Dayton

AZ looks like a clear title contender. Very good at all positions and on both ends of the floor. Dayton will need to play their best game of the year to just stay in striking distance.

This is going to be like the UNC Rhody game over 30 years ago. Blow out city, one of the best offensive teams in America and a Dayton team that cannot score. Happy they beat Nevada, but they scored 63 points. That will not cut it today. Blow out city. Hope I am 0 for 3 but doubt it. Dumb selection for a game with no other alternatives. Much rather see Duquesne and Illinois in this spot. Duquesne is playing better than Dayton and Illinois is no where near as good as Arizona. They have a chance to win that game. This one, not so much.

It’s a win if they can go into the half down only single digits.
Just need to hang in there. Maybe their shots will start to drop in the second half.

It's go time for Dayton bigtime. Down 15 with under 7 to play. They need to pull a rabbit out of the hat right now.

It is a shame we will never see these two programs (and similar type programs) play a home and home series. Sucks for college basketball fans in general and robs fans at schools like Dayton of experiencing that excitement.

Dayton has played great defense. Sorry not buying Grant not being a good game coach. He knows he does not have the horses to play with Arizona so he has changed his defenses multiple times, has pressed, played zone. This is coaching, not playing the same defense every time when you are outmanned.
But they play hard and to be within 10 of this team under four is a testament to how well coached they are. But can's miss the front end of two one and ones. And the refs of course do not call the guy running through the screen so Holmes retaliates. Game over flagrant 1. But not the blow out I expected but still a comfortable win for Arizona.

Dayton is still in this shooting 39%
If they even have an average day from the field it's a one possession game.
They have lost to much worse teams than Dayton.

Dayton had their chances but just couldn’t get key shots to fall. It happens.
Then, AZ would respond to keep Dayton at arms length.
Tough loss against a potential national champ.

Dayton gets P5 H&H series pretty regularly.

Kobe Elvis' decision making cost them a bunch and Anthony Grant hoarded his timeouts, let the deficit get too big several times. Had 3 timeouts left in the last minute.
The saving timeouts for the end and trying to play through it is just dumb.
Really good season for Dayton though!
Next up Duquesne! Get your slippers on!

Yeah good effort for Dayton , seemed like AZ had a little too much for them , that’s the danger of getting a 7-10 seed as opposed to a 6 v 11 some times you get a better round of 32 matchup
