Tashawn Mabry along with PJ Lockridge were supposed to the the gems who saved Baron’s job.
Also I’ll always stand by the opinion that Jordan Hare would have been a very good player for us.

Daniel West is another one of those “gems” although he came via the transfer route.
Would love to know what Jordan Hare is up to these days.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
Meh - he could have been a rotation cog, but as far as I can tell he never resurfaced anywhere after URI, which is tough for a guy who's 6'10" and skilled. He would have had to earn minutes against Hassan Martin and Biruta the following two years. Of course, I do remember about a thousand message board posts for and against Hare, since there was always something going on with him. I don't think people ever questioned the talent when it came to Hare, it was everything else.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
Going down the rabbit hole on this a bit... His Twitter account from when he was at URI hasn't had a new tweet in seven years. There is one post on an Auburn fan board in 2015 that mistakenly connects them to him, but it's almost certainly some kind of error with a machine algorithm, because of Jordan-Hare Stadium. He doesn't have any history listed on Proballers or Basketball Reference, suggesting he hasn't played pro ball at all. He could have played at the junior college level - there isn't good stat tracking for that level at times, and tons of small schools barely on the radar. Otherwise, he's one of those guys that just faded away from URI to parts unknown, like a high profile Frank Monge.

Jordan Hare would have been an absolute stud for us. I remember he looked awesome against PC and had another game where he had 10 pts and 16 rebounds. He was a high major big with a ton of potential. It's sad how it all turned out... If he had a passion for the game, he could have been one of the best bigs in the A10.

I will always laugh when I remember posters here being 100% serious saying he would be very good for us because he dunked hard in warm ups and hit a couple elbow jump shots pregame.

Ryan Brooks was my favorite layup line all star. That dude would be doing all sorts of slams pregame then get in the game and not have the vaguest idea how to play basketball.
If you want to see a bonkers write up on Mike Layssard, check this out from ESPN back in 2016...

Look at some of the names Layssard is mentioned with! He’s ranked higher than Jonathan Isaac. Has to be one of Borzello’s coldest takes.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
It wouldn't surprise me if it is pretty similar for other programs - After all, you can only start five players, and usually, only seven or eight get good minutes each year. It is interesting to me that the better players are generally more clustered to the top. Like, you'd rather have the top 12 than the bottom 12. I'm also curious as to what the lowest star rating / quality score is for a player that's made an All-A10 team - I couldn't find a good list of all of the recent teams, so I'm guessing it's Seawright, if he made a team.Jersey77 wrote: ↑3 years agoBased on this list of our top ranked recruits since 2004, around half had little/no impact or left early.Jersey77 wrote: ↑3 years ago Found this on 247 sports

This can probably be said about a lot of players here, but if Jamal Wilson had Hurley for his whole career, he had enough talent to have made multiple All A10 teams.

Per Wikipedia, first team in 2009. He was probably an outlier in terms of the recruiting rankings though - I think it was known pretty early on that he was signing up for Jim Baron at URI, so I don't think he had a ton of scouting done on him. Billy Baron was a three-star recruit, but Jimmy doesn't even have an entry on Rivals.

I remember Jimmy being a 3-star recruit after he did his year at Worcester. I also remember playing against Jimmy in a summer league, and he told us he'd only shoot with his left hand, and he still absolutely murdered us.

This is interesting. Be nice if it is true. What is this based on? Is this an informed opinion or just rank speculation? I would love it for it to be the former but I am not hearing that. And there is nothing wrong with speculation, just asking.PeterRamTime wrote: ↑3 years agoI'm thinking it's going to be someone already on the roster...by the name of Ileri.
How long has the 5 stars dad been the head coach? Curious if he has been there for like a decade and this is just a fortunate occurrence, or was he just hired with the expectation that his son would follow him. If the latter, at least he did not pull a Lamar who I love. Hire Jerry D and I will come back Lamar says, and then smartly bolts.

Pat Baldwin Sr will be going into his 5th season as HC at University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee of the Horizon League. He was a PG for 4 years at Northwestern, Assistant Coach for 16 years from 2001 to 2017.4Diffs wrote: ↑3 years agoThis is interesting. Be nice if it is true. What is this based on? His son narrowed his college choices to a final 3 of Duke, Georgetown and Wisconsin - Milwaukee.
Coaching career (HC unless noted)
2001–2002 Lincoln (MO) (assistant)
2002–2004 Green Bay (assistant)
2004–2011 Loyola (IL) (assistant)
2011–2013 Missouri State(assistant)
2013–2017 Northwestern (assistant)
2017–present Milwaukee
Of course it's easily, but Pat Baldwin JR is predicted to go #16 in 1st round in NBA Draft.net 2022 draft.

St. Joe's got a big commitment from '22 PG/CG Christian Winborne.
He is a solid 3* (126 ranking) from Baltimore with many high major offers including: Xavier, KState, LSU, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Rutgers, Seton Hall, plus Ivy League schools including Harvard so he is very smart. He even visited Rutgers.

So when do we get a recruit who moves the needle on the national level? Seems like we have Baron recruiting here. This is getting depressing.
