Harris has been hurt and playing through a painful injury all year. Remember what everyone said about Cyril's play on this board last year as he played through his hernia? Look at Cyril now as he has been healthy all year. Let's see what Harris can do next year when he is fully recovered.
I can see associating some of Harris’ play with the injury.
Cyril’s “injured year” he averaged 6.1 points (64% FG), 5.8 rebounds & 1.2 blocks in 18 mins per game.
Harris averaged 4.5 ppg (46% FG), 2.8 rebounds & 0.5 blocks in 18 mins per game.
I realize Cyril was a Soph last year but he was also on the court with 4 top players all the time.
To state the obvious, different injuries effect different guys differently. Not saying that Harris will definitely put up the same numbers next year as Cyril put up this year, but I would expect an improvement in his production, based on both increased experience and presumably better health.
But, I’d also point out that even if you did want to say that Harris and Cyril’s injuries were similar enough that you could project Harris based on Cyril’s year over year production, 10.3 / 4.8 / 0.6 is not that bad for Harris next year. It would be cool if he could improve on those rebounding and blocks numbers, but that is serviceable output.

My comp for Harris has always been Nate Watson at PC. Not exactly the same type of player, but similarly ranked 4 star PFs. Watson struggled mightily in his freshman season, averaging 6ppg and 2rpg. This year he even struggled some in the OOC, but he really has hit his stride as of late and finished the year at 11ppg and 6rpg including a few dominating performances. I also think he will be a huge force next season for PC.
Harris is a bit of at tweener, is still finding his role offensively and finding out where and how he can get his points at the college level, and he was plagued by foul trouble that often occurs with FR bigs not used to the speed and athleticism of the college game. I have no doubt Jermaine is going to be a stud A10 big man in time. Also keep in mind when people talk about Toppin, he just turned 21 years old....as a FRESHMAN. Harris is 19. With big guys those 2 years are a mile apart.
I agree BAR, and the comparison to Toppin isn't really fair as you point out. And besides the age difference, Toppin had an additional year of practice with the team. I am hoping the additional 1/2 year of practice for Madding and Walker will be very beneficial for them too. I can see a breakout
season for Harris coming.

Maybe not but I feel the A10 is losing ground to other conferences in that next tier. Specifically the AAC
This was a down year for the A10 for sure, but if you look at the rosters across the conf not a lot of seniors out there. Our top 4 will hang or be better than the American's top 4 next year.

UMass is rumored to be in the lead for Tre Mitchell, which would probably vault them to the #1 2019 class in the conference.
Wow, that would be a great get for them, and a big blow to UConn and PC.
His HS coach is looking for a job, that would guarantee the kid. Apparently UMASS has already agreed to hire him. Look for that shoe to drop, then the kid follows with his announcement.

Watching the A10 Tournament this week made me realize recruiting ratings after the 5 stars can be so off.
Just some examples:
Bonnies Lofton and Osunniyi were not rated (not even a 2 star/top 350). Lofton was the second best Fr in the A10 and the best player in the game yesterday.
Rhody of course is led by Dowtin (#273) and Cyril (326). Fyi Tertsea was ahead of Cyril at 287
Dayton Toppin not rated
VCU Santos-Silva ranked #306

The Woodstock to UMass migration is starting-
Is Coach Bergeron next? He was in Amherst this weekend. Could have been accompanying TJ and Tre Mitchell who had their official visits this weekend. Could have also been interviewing. He is from the Springfield area. Great Prep School coach.

100%, it was well known he was pushing Mitchell along with a job for himself.
Yes, reef. I believe there is another Weeks son playing in high school....

If no one else leaves and URI brings in a juco, it would creat good class balance. Freshmen: 3. Soph: 4. Junior. 3, Senior 3.

Great form on his shot, athletic, all-hair team nominee. Reese

Ty out recruiting today looking at more JUCO options!
Reese is ranked #32 in JUCO as compared to Sheppard at #97, both SGs.
I thought Sheppard was a PG. I know we are more and more positionless but Sheppard averaged over 5 assists. I think I saw PG by his name in some places.
URI in late on Reese. Has already made some visits

Carrigan seems similar to Mike Tertsea...by his stat line

Yeah, not impressed

I'm going to be disappointed if they don't get Sheppard or Reese

They want one or the other, not both. Have to put the effort in for both in case one goes the other way. The staff feels strong about the targets.
I said 'or' not 'and'

Do they prefer one over the other?
Not sure. That’s behind closed doors talk. I’d assume they’d take the first to pop.

I hadn’t even read your post when I posted my comment. No worries
If we have a legitimate shot at Kareim Reid do we forego Sheppard and Reese to take Reid?

You take one of the Gs and you would take Reid. Then Coach Cox makes the difficult decision in opening up a scholarship.
They aren’t reaching out to him last night unless they would have a spot for him AFTER filling the need at G.

I’ve not seen Reid play but he is only ranked #58 in New England
What happened that all of a sudden he is so sought after?
Or is this the old story whereby there are just very few options remaining?
