Re: Where Are They Now? Former player results for 2012-2013
Akeem Richmond with a career-high 29 today (9-14 from 3PT) as ECU beat SMU this afternoon. Richmond averaging 21.5 over his past 4 games.
Wonder if he'd like to transfer back for his senior year and give us a little outside shooting?
Only if he can bottle this recent hot streak and NEVER give us any more clunkers like the NIT game against UNC...

In his last 4 games Akeem is 25 for 44 on three's for an unconscious 57%!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is about 45% for three's on the year
Has not started ANY games - just a fireplug off the bench for the Pirates

Re: Where Are They Now? Former player results for 2012-2013
In case anyone was wondering, here are updates on Dominique McKoy, Blake Vedder, and PJ Lockridge (who?!?!)
McKoy averaging 14 Points, 11 Rebounds at Cowley.... http://stats.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2012 ... emckoyolgq
Meanwhile Blake Vedder continues to underwhelm even at IUP averaging just 4.6 Points, and 2.6 Rebounds... http://iupathletics.com/cumestats.aspx? ... &year=2012
Glass half full.... Vedder hasn't missed a 3 pointer all year!
In the 'We hardly knew ya category' we find PJ Lockridge averaging 11 Points, 7.6 Rebounds... http://stats.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2012 ... kridgel0ol
Lockridge shooting a brutal 46% at the line!

Vedder averaging less than 5 PPG in DII? You can't teach height, but you can't teach heart either.
Remember when people thought Lockridge was going to be a great player for us?

I liked McKoy last year, I wish he would have stayed. Good glue guy. Glad to see he's being productive, albeit the lower level.

rod is right on this article. I don't believe that the Barons were surprised by his dismissal from URI. Jim Baron knew he was in trouble from the time Jimmy was in his senior year when that team did not make the NCAA. Though the next two seasons were winning ones, the program's slide was evident. Jim was in trouble with his recruiting and this fact led to his increasingly panicked behavior on recruiting which resulted in poor quality recruits. Team dissension and player dismissals were the natural result and the Rams' record the last two seasons of 15- 44 (to date) are really his legacy.

Bad hire when Skerry left. He needed to hire another young hustling recruiter and for some unknown reason he took a chance on a guy with international connections who brought Nik and Shengelia. It was a killer.Obadiah wrote:rod is right on this article. I don't believe that the Barons were surprised by his dismissal from URI. Among other sins, Baron had a a hit-and-miss record in hiring assistants.

Speaking of Skerry, clearly he wasn't listening while at the right hand of Baron: Towson finished the season on an 8-1 run.

Dan's not in the mood to take in academic liabilities. Look at the guys he has brought in/signed for the model of student he'd like on his team.

For what its worth, Holton has indicated on his facebook page that "Really happy my recruitment open back up thank god for all the opportunity he bless me with dreams coming into reality !"
Looks like he won't be following Dick Pitino Jr. to Minny...

Re: 13 NY SG - Isaiah Lewis
I would take him back in a milli-second
He had an outstanding year at Palm Beach State, no issues.
What an addition he would be to next year's team.

Holton is a beast, everybody deserves a second chance. I was such a punk my freshman year, I just wasn't a D1 Basketball player. If true, I'd welcome sponge back to Rhody.

I was a punk too, but I wasn't a felon. That said, if Hurley/Thorr/Dooley were convinced that Holton had turned his life around, including his classroom work, then I'm all for 2nd chances too. Who knows...never say never....Mongo wrote:Holton is a beast, everybody deserves a second chance. I was such a punk my freshman year, I just wasn't a D1 Basketball player. I really don't think there's even the slightest chance Dan wants anything to do with the baggage Jonathan would carry back to his program. Who knows if Jonathan would even take academics seriously. He sure didn't when he was here.

I don't know if it is realistic to expect that he comes back to URI, but I do wish him the best wherever he ends up. I liked him.

His felony charges in Rhode Island are still pending as well, which are somewhat surprising. Once he committed, I figured he would try to work out a plea and/or a dismissal.

I'm told there is no interest on either side. Holton's release will be official soon and then he'll start looking at schools.reef wrote:Say no to Holton, we will have enough pieces without him

If URI didn't expel JH, then they will take him back. However, he may be on academic probation and ineligible to play. I'm not sure whether DH wants him. I'm not sure whether JH want to come back to URI. He would be an impact player.
