Wow! I don’t know how they grabbed the number 3 ranked recruit, but kudos to the lead recruiter. And a defensive lineman to boot, which Rhody sorely needs. They need to keep trying to build in that area, though. If this kid is as good as his rating indicates, he’ll be double teamed on every play if he has no help.

Love it!
Both players very deserving of these awards.

Keeps your keys on #18 and #99 this season.

KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island claimed a pair of weekly CAA Football honors, as senior Coby Tippett was named Co-Special Teams Player of the Week and feshman Westley Neal, Jr. earned Rookie of the Week recognition, the league announced Monday.
Tippett earned the special teams honor thanks to his 50-yard punt return for a touchdown in the second quarter of Rhode Island's 16-14 win at UAlbany. It was Rhody's first punt return for a touchdown since Ahmere Dorsey had a 69-yard return for a score against UAlbany in 2018. It also is the longest punt return in the CAA this season.
This is Tippett's second weekly conference honor in just five career games with Rhode Island. Last spring he was the league's defensive player of the week after intercepting two passes and breaking up a third during a 17-10 overtime win at UAlbany.

Neal was explosive at the line of scrimmage Saturday night against the Great Danes. He finished with a career-high seven tackles, five of which were tackles for loss. He produced two sacks, and his five TFLs resulted in negative-25 yards total.
Neal was a primary reason Rhode Island's defense limited UAlbany to 215 total yards, including just 49 yards rushing on 38 attempts. The 5.0 tackles for loss tied Neal for the third-highest single-game total in program history and are the most in a game by any CAA Football player this season.

Rhode Island is back in action Saturday when it visits Brown for the 39th edition of the Governor's Cup. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m.

Check the video just posted. He’s URIs version of Aaron Donald. Watch him just discard blockers on clip 2 and 3. And he’s a freshman. Yikes
