Week #2 - Games of Interest
Bit late on this.
Seton Hall using their size adavantage easily beat Norfolk State, 78-65 Monday night in a HOF game. The Rams will play either the Pirates or Washington this Sunday at Moheagn Sun and both look like a load.
In a morning game today in Amherst, UMass stole one from Harvard by canning two three pointers in last 40 seconds, 67-64.
Also today, Xavier beat Butler 72-47 in a non-conference game. They will play their conference game late in the season.
Also today, Temple beat Kent State, 80-66.

Xavier is amazing....mass defections, ineligibility issues, etc. and they keep winning. A true program, swap out the players (and coaches) and the results stay the same.

Re: Week #2 - Games of Interest
At X, there's very little drop off in talent from the starting five to the last guy on the bench. All quality players for the most part.
Sort of like an A10 version of Kentucky with Calipari. The good players just keep on coming. That's what consistent success will do.
MAYBE we'll be like that in a couple of years. Even if we do, the key is to maintain the program at that high level no matter who the coach is.
That's the REALLY tough part.

Kentucky-Duke.
Nerlans Noel? OK, he's big, he can block shots, but he no Anthony Davis.
Another raw offensive player, who was too highly rated, at least at this stage.

This might be a game of interest only to me, but I'm excited for Wagner and the Mason era to start tonight!

Watching St. Bonaventure-Cornell while following Wagner-Delaware State on Gamecast. I love college basketball season!
The MEAC is seriously messing with me so far, though.

Yes, reef, St. Louis lost in a shocker 74-62 to Santa Clara. SLU was without two of their star players, Kwamain Mitchell and Cory Remekun who are out due to injuries.

Dayton putting a beat down on BC. I thought Dayton would drop off with who they lost, and I thought BC was supposed to be better this year?

Took Umass at +7.5 and am quickly regretting it. NC State is stacked. Umass down 14 with a couple mins left in the 1st half

Re: Week #2 - Games of Interest
If one of the supposedly better teams in the A-10, UMass, gets spanked by #6 NC State, I shudder to think of what happens when the Rams, a predicted A-10 bottom feeder, plays the #4 team, Ohio State tomorrow. Oy vay.
And how about the production Dayton got from two freshman today as they soundly beat the BC Eagles.

Langston Galloway might actually be a hockey player. Lost a tooth (teeth?) and checks right back into the game.

i would be shocked if they (St Joes) don't win the league and flirt with a top 25 ranking all year long.

Re: Week #2 - Games of Interest
St. Joe's win was great. They looked a lot better than UMass. They play smarter, too. Now, if we can just upset OSU today, it'll be a good week for the league. ( I can dream).

Another game of interest today. St. Boneventure at Canisius.

Re: Week #2 - Games of Interest
In another HOF game, Loyola (MD) easily beat Norfolk State, 65-49. Loyola led by double digits for most of the game. Not looking good for URI to win a game in this 4 game tournament despite two home games and two neutral site games.

Re: Week #2 - Games of Interest
Apart from the Rams game against Seton Hall, there are several interesting games on this last day of Week #2 of the season.
In completing the HOF schedule at Mohegan Sun are Norfolk State vs. UMKC, Loyola (MD) vs. Albany, and the championship game OSU vs. Washington at 4:30 PM.
In a game involving two future URI opponents, Dayton plays Auburn in the Charleston Classic .
UMass plays Tennessee in Puerto Rico.
PC vs UNC-Asheville
Richmond at Minnesota
George Mason plays New Mexico in Paradise Jam tourney.

Yes Sean, your team is better than ours this year if everybody plays.
Starting next year though, different ball game.
