Now that we can post videos, I'm going to start putting highlight videos in the profiles. The only reason I didn't before is that you couldn't embed video on the old board, otherwise I would have.

Named by Dave Telep as one of the Top Five '13 recruits in the Atlantic 10, along with Josh Brown, JeQuan Lewis, Isaiah Watkins, and E.C. Matthews. 2/5 ain't bad!
PF Hassan Martin
College: Rhode Island
Hometown/High school: Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis
This is a power forward who you can't help but like. In the paint, he gives you a taste of everything and operates from a blue-collar perspective. The lefty is an extra-effort maven. He comes up with blocks, and he doesn't like to rebound; Martin loves to rebound. This is a get-it-done forward with a motor that is revved all the time.
Sounds like ARD only with a bigger upside.
He's going to be playing SF, which is where he wants to be for his
NBA future.
He'll probably need to work on his face up game and his outside shot, but at 16, he's got a lot of time to learn and develop.
By the way, was Martin even in that video?

No, he wasn't in the video. He is #21. He was probably hurt during this time.
Yeah, I thought he was playing in that game. He's listed on the roster of the youtube video description, but they probably just copied and pasted the schools' rosters.
"The trio controlled the pace of the game, scoring and dishing to Rhode Island-bound forward Hassan Martin of Curtis High, who finished with 22 points"
Hassan Martin (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis)
2013, PF, 6-7, 190
College: Rhode Island
If there was any doubt that he’s a flat-out steal in the Atlantic 10, Sunday’s night’s performance should put that uncertainty to bed once and for all. He’s added notable muscle mass to his frame since July while maintaining the same long and cut build to complement his mobility and athleticism. The southpaw’s face-up skill set has continued to evolve to the point that he made short jumpers off both the catch and the dribble. Also, he was as consistent a finisher as there was in the field, rolling off screens and crashing the offensive glass to throw down emphatic dunks with both hands.
The level of recruit that the Hurleys are chasing [and getting] is light years better than what we've had for a long time, with the possible exception of Hare. Of course, the coaching staff still had to close the deal on him, and the fact they did, tells me he will be worth it.
I have no doubt also, that these types of recruits will be coming to Kingston for a long time. Maybe we will, after all, reach that Xavier level we've all been dreaming about.
Hassan has said that the coach sees him as a 3 on this team.
We're seeing that, overall, the staff can get the players they want. The next step is to see how they turn out. I'm not worried about that at all, BTW.

That's great to have a big 3 like that who can score.
I agree on how they turn out - this coach is COACHING.

NEVER seen Martin listed as a 2.
His forte is inside play, rebounding and finishing.
He is working on his face-up game to be a 3 in the NBA, where
many feel his upside will bring him.
Hopefully this is only the beginning. looking forward to Midnight madness 2013.

"3:04 p.m. ET: A source informed Scout.com that Rhode Island now has Letters of Intent from E.C. Matthews and Hassan Martin. Very good two-man class for R.I. (ED)"
"Hassan is a versatile, talented forward that can develop into an impact player. He comes from a basketball family and played for outstanding AAU and high school coaches with strong traditions," Hurley said. "His explosive athleticism will fit perfectly with our attacking style on both ends of the court and Hassan will help elevate this program in one of the best basketball conferences in the country."
Great stuff. Signing days are one of the best days of the year to follow college sports, although you wouldn't have known it following Jim Baron's Rams. Great to finally join the rest of the college basketball community in being able to celebrate the newest members of our family.

When's the last time we were this pumped for a recruiting class? Top to bottom, the guys coming in are the best group we've brought in talent-wise- possibly in the last 20 years
