Ohio State Game at Mohegan
Who is going?
More important where are we meeting up before/after for libations and gambling. Is the alumni association doing anything?

I'm going. Not sure which bar/restaurant The Dude and I will be at before the game, but hopefully we can determine that over the next few days.

Going, and there's some slot credits available for RI residents( RI Days at the Sun) doing the new players card sign ups. The Alumni Assoc is doing a "reception" in the Sky Bar, no reservation needed, just drop in.

I'll be there with 3 of my friends from NH. Not expecting a win on the court, but hopefully some winning on the tables!

I'll be there with my wife. Then replay the loss in my head with free drinks at the 2/4 Hold Em' table. They're free if you win....

I'll be there, and I believe the Indy, Gansett Times and Projo are all sending reporters. Afterward, I think some buddies and I are hanging out around the casino, but plans aren't formalized yet.

I'll be there, but I will take in the football game first. I wonder if Vegas has odds on us winning them both.

hmmm....Aqib Talib coming in would be nice to see, especially to watch him pick six against that mouth breather luck.spookydog wrote:I will be at both day's games. I sold my Patriots game ticket to go. Hopefully I made the right decision.
But a shocking Rhody win would be unforgettable.

Re: Ohio State Game at Mohegan
Beating Ohio State or even Seton Hall would take a literal miracle, after what we've seen so far.
I guess we come out strong, and give them a game for 10 minutes or so. Then reality sets in. Oh well.
That's OK though. The phrase "Wait till next year" applies big time to Rhody BB.
P.S. I will be working at the race book in the Earth casino until 7, then I'll head over to the games.

Re: Ohio State Game at Mohegan
Blue Man, you better hope that Talib helps that sorry ass Patriots secondary, or there's no Supe for them this year. With his rap sheet, looks like they are desperate for ANY help.
As for Luck, he's the future, and he's not bad right now either. If the Pats can't beat him now, they won't later.

Oh my God how terrible are we back there? I mean, Talib is a certified gang banger...that's how you know we're desperate. Hopefully he's a complete game changer and will allow us to get out of that porous zone coverage that we've had to be in.rambone 78 wrote:Blue Man, you better hope that Talib helps that sorry ass Patriots secondary, or there's no Supe for them this year. As for Luck, he's a rookie QB. Rookie QBs don't tend to do well against BB.

Is TJ playing?
I'd like to see an all-hustle lineup: Buchanan, Munford, Nik, Aaman, Bigby.
Not a lot of offense, but there hasn't been any anyway.

I like it.
Munford can handle the point.
Not a lot of offense no matter who plays, anyway.

Our preview article with the chat applet goes live at 5 a.m. Sautrday - http://patch.com/A-z9Xm - The link won't work before 5 a.m., just to warn y'all. The chat itself goes live at about 5 p.m. As far as I know, I did get cleared for a media pass, and should be there Saturday and Sunday. I think the weeklies and the Projo are also covering both games.

Re: Ohio State Game at Mohegan
Given URI's slow start to games so far this season, a carryover from last year, this game will be no contest from beginning to end. The Rams will fail to score 50 points, the OSU margin will peak at 41 points and garbage time will reduce the final margin to 32.

Re: Ohio State Game at Mohegan
I don't know if it will be that bad. I agree that it will be tough for us to score 50 points though. Ohio State is a very good defensive team. Powell needs to take very good care of the ball, or your prediction could be right. I see more of a 20-25 point margin, let's say 72-49.Issac wrote:Given URI's slow start to games so far this season, a carryover from last year, this game will be no contest from beginning to end. Re: Ohio State Game at Mohegan
Should be real interesting to see what Hare looks like inside today. He has a couple inches on most of the low post players for Ohio State, but is outweighed by 20-40 pounds. May not be pretty. Somebody has to stop Craft from getting open beyond the arc as well. And I dont know who is going to be able to match up with Deshaun Thomas. Probably going to be a long day. I just hope to see continued effort and if we can hang with them for awhile I'll be pleased.

Thomas is the matchup we won't remotely have an answer for.
He's strong, and quick. Is Nik going to guard him? Malone?
Craft without TJ is a tough one, too.

Definitely Rod. I just have visions of Powell leaving Craft wide open for at least a few 3's. I hope I am wrong. Thomas is going to be an absolute nightmare for whoever gets that assignment.rodfromcranston wrote:Thomas is the matchup we won't remotely have an answer for.

I pregamed at the bar with the big waterall behind it, good spot.
What is everyone's review of the arena as a place to watch hoops? It was my first time there, and I thought it was a great place to catch a game. I was in the upper level, but still felt like I was on top of the action.
Only negative was the scoreboards. I would love a jumbotron hanging over the court. The 2 scoreboards leave something to be desired.

Yeah, videoboards are in need of an upgrade. They had some tired looking projectors in the upper corners for larger video, but those were fairly worthless. The video "ribbon" along the upper deck railing was OK, but had incorrect stats. URI and Ohio St each saw their Timeouts increase up to something like 8 and 6 by the end of the game.
