I would like the addition of Miranda, 79. Although, I do not know how positive I would be because I don’t know what his ceiling is. I would need much more current scouting reports from our KB scouting crew to have a chance at going really positive.79RhodyFan wrote: ↑1 month ago I really hope Bassy has been on the phone trying to recruit Miranda. Is he changing, evolving or has he given up? Just play free! You tell me how you want to play.
I need more context from the Projo to start speculating.
I no longer receive or go on-line for the ProJo. Can you share more context, RIFan, when you get a chance ? I would sincerely appreciate it.

Re: Men's Basketball Transfer Carousel and Portal - 2024-25
Miranda is so raw. I'd rather we land a proven big that will help us right away. I want the best possible team next year at this point. I'm done worrying about potential. I want to have games that matter to us again in March. I miss waking up and thinking to myself Rhody has a huge game today. I started to feel that way after we beat Umass. Then we lost by 100 in back-to-back games and got embarrassed, and it went back to pointless basketball for the rest of the year.. I can't handle that another season.. Most of us can't.
ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING

This one play sure is incredible. He may be a bust, but the odds of him being better than what Tyson and Fou were last year are probably 100%
Maybe he got a little homesick at NC State and Oklahoma St and would feel more comfortable playing college ball back home?
Seems like a longshot, but I don't know if he's getting any buzz from the NBA. There are some red flags about him, but I think its worth giving him a shot if he wanted to come here. Would have to get another big for insurance though I think. We should have Fuchs and two other 5 men anyway.

As for my spec, on first glance through the story, I think he left due to a limited role which shows a lack of confidence in him at that point in time (which isn’t surprising since Archie didn’t recruit him to be on his team). Additionally, I think Archie, at some point became convinced himself or by Carroll maybe, that Bassy has improved in the areas he was weak in when here and can fill a sudden need.
So, Archie gave Carroll the go ahead to reach out.
I think it shows growth and adaptability on the part of both parties - which is a good thing in my book.

Archie is staying away from players with red flags.

Okay I counted 72 centers in the portal without new homes.
Haven't seen that we've reached out to a single one of them.

I feel like he initially tried to go big, get the splashy name- poaching Freeman from GW, getting a former 4 star in Harris, even Kenny Johnson probably fits here. Now, just get the guys who can play, who fit, and who you can develop.

That's what DH is doing at UConn - not getting the stud just b/c they are a stud, but getting those that want to work and have the attitue. Or the old Herb Brooks in 1980 - (paraphrasing): "I'm not looking for the best players, I'm looking for the right ones!"
Works for me if that's what Miller is doing.

That could be Ace. I think year one he needed bodies. Year 2 he needed players but couldn't be too picky. This year, fit is much more important.

How many of those centers a could be headed to the A10? Most of the really good ones are power 5 locks, and there’s a lot of ones who aren’t even close to A10 level, possibly dropping down to D2 or JUCO.PeterRamTime wrote: ↑1 month agoIt took like 1 minute.Rhody15 wrote: ↑1 month agoDidn’t you say you live in Nashville?PeterRamTime wrote: ↑1 month ago Okay I counted 72 centers in the portal without new homes.

I would argue having a proven record of being unable to play at the Atlantic 10 level should be a giant fucking red flag, and yet he brought Thomas back

The Thomas that is coming back here now is clearly a different player than the one that left...he may not 'star', but I'd venture to say that he is now "able to play" at an A10 levelRhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑1 month agoI would argue having a proven record of being unable to play at the Atlantic 10 level should be a giant fucking red flag, and yet he brought Thomas back

Re: Men's Basketball Transfer Carousel and Portal - 2024-25
I'd say this is a bit of a stretch. In his two seasons here, Thomas has proved he could compete, though not star at the A10 level. He did leave some to be desired, but could be an asset in the right system/right players around him. Would I rather have Jeff Dowtin or Tyson Wheeler 2.0? Of course, but we could also be getting worse. I'm also talking myself into him.RhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑1 month agoI would argue having a proven record of being unable to play at the Atlantic 10 level should be a giant fucking red flag, and yet he brought Thomas back

5 left. Who's next? 16 players on the '23-'24 roster (including walk-ons). 11 are gone.

Remains to be seen if it was an upgrade or downgrade but it was clear that at least 1 was going to go portaling from current back court after adding 2. My preference would have been Ways, but my #2 would be Luis. Too much of a tweener and we have better options at the 2 and 3 spot.

Kind of expected that one at some point. Felt like we didn't really have a spot for him to play his natural position/role. He always seemed to play hard and had some really good games. Best of luck with whatever comes next!

I think Luis leaving might have as much to do with Lawrence coming as it does with Bassy. Lawrence can run an offense better than Luis can. Or it's at least comparable with JLaw having way more upside.bigappleram wrote: ↑1 month ago Remains to be seen if it was an upgrade or downgrade but it was clear that at least 1 was going to go portaling from current back court after adding 2. Giving Luis minutes might have meant less for guys like House and Cam. Then you gotta factor in minutes at the wing.
Bassy
JLaw
House
Cam
Ways playing spot minutes if need be
No more slow offense.

Agreed. Remains to be seen if it's an upgrade or downgrade. Let's not pretend Kortright was some stand-out player. He was incredibly slow defensively and clearly out of position as a PG.bigappleram wrote: ↑1 month ago Remains to be seen if it was an upgrade or downgrade but it was clear that at least 1 was going to go portaling from current back court after adding 2.
