I would like to get him , averaged 7 rebounds in 22 minutes and looks like he can put it on the floor a bit

Cunningham is also following a 6'7 200lb wing from FSU
Would be a junior next season. Hardly played at all in two years at FSU, but looks like he can really shoot it nonetheless.

I would be more fine with him than I would Traore. Played a touch more and can legit shoot it.

Both Avila and his coach had everyone returning and could have made it a special season while making the tourney. He then could have parlayed his success into a much better job than St. Louis. Both will probably end up with a very mediocre season at best next year instead of making the tourney

Kind of expected that, SLU might get Swope but I’m pretty sure at least 3 of those guys go P5.Jersey77 wrote: ↑2 months agoConwell has a visit with NC StateRamfan22 wrote: ↑2 months agoHe’ll get Robbie Avila, and maybe 1-2 other starters. Yes, I did also, but if Schertz can still bring in Avila and Swope not bad.
Plus returning Gibby, Hargrove, and Hughes, they can be competitive.
Biggest upgrade is Schertz over Ford.

Avila (if he goes which I assume he will) and Jimerson gonna be one hell of a one-two punch.

Really?? Talk about blind homer optimism. I see nothing, and I mean nothing, to back this up. How someone can say that after watching the team for the last two years is beyond me. But hope springs eternal and I hope this happens.BobfromMatunuck wrote: ↑2 months agoI was at Dave’s Market earlier today. One neighbor said to me “Archie will get us to the promised land.”

Re: Men's Basketball Transfer Carousel and Portal - 2024-25
I am totally with BAR here. The guy had one great season and no P5 came calling. You expect them to have a better season next season? Everyone returning? No chance that would have happened in todays environment. If not now when do you make this move? And sorry this reads alot like the A10 sucks and why would he take a job in the lowly A10. There are many worse jobs in the P5 then the St. Louis job. This goes back to the over the top negativity towards the A10 that many have on this board. Now whether he is a good coach or not, I have no idea. We will find out.bigappleram wrote: ↑2 months agoSchertz just got a 1.5mm raise and will take his whole team with him and likely compete at the top of the league for a bid just like he would have done in the Valley. Indiana State star Robbie Avila, one of the breakout stars of the 2023-24 college basketball season, has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
Avila's portal entry is marked by a red exclamation point, which means not to reach out to him, a sign that he's already made up his mind on his destination.

I've decided, after much consideration, I'm entering the Fan Portal. Any College team can reach out to me and provide NIL offers. Free tickets, free beer and concessions would put them at the top of my fan list. Willing to make official visits as well. Please have a lot of swag available for me. (c/s)

To me, stealth recruiting tells me they are not confident in their position. They are fearful of competition and losing publicity. I can understand it under certain circumstances, but not as a practice. But Archie sure doesn’t seem to like high expectations…he was laying the groundwork with “we’ll be good when we are good” which could mean the next coach.

Regarding visits, more importantly…
My question is, do we still arrange all those chocolates on the hotel bed like when DC was here ?

It said:

Either we’re not getting a commitment. Or the coaching staff caught onto them posting that after a bunch of Rhody fans saw it and told them to take it down.
Edit: URI managers account posted it

Good thing The Masters is holding my interest today (it looks like an exciting finish is possible) otherwise, the lack of Rhody portal commitments, news, rumors and buzz would be getting me really frustrated.
Some rumors about a new assistant, too.
A string of good news around the program would be nice after last season, although Stone taking over the collective was very good news.

It may just be me, but I hate it when we congratulate another team on their pick up…who gives a . I hope every other team stinks, especially our neighbors to the north…all of them. I know I would be much more willing to praise others if I felt we were holding our own.

I have no problem with the other A10 teams (except for UMass) upping their game and getting impact players.
I want our conference to be strong and always be a multi-bid league.
We just need Archie to keep pace, no more excuses.
