I think so. A good loss if there ever was one. UConn doesn't make their FT's and the result might have been different.
UConn needed a game like that though. Get too cocky and it could bite them in the ass.

Ugh UVA gifted NC State a win just now , UVA was up 58-52 with 40 secs left fouled a 3 point shooter who makes all 3 then with 6 secs left UVA misses 1-1 and NC St makes miracle bank shot to force OT and they pull it out
That could cost UVA a bid and who knows PC could be the beneficiary

Let’s pull for FAU to lose their conference and Nc State to win , that would be 2 bid stealers

Re: Games of Interest - 2023-2024 MBB
From espn
BIG EAST
Locks
UConn Huskies, Marquette Golden Eagles, Creighton Bluejays
Work to do
St. John's Red Storm
Rick Pitino's now famous tirade (the one where he said he was having the "most unenjoyable experience" of his life) took place on Feb. 18, in the aftermath of St. John's losing at home to Seton Hall. The six-game win streak that ensued was ended by UConn in the Big East semifinals, but look at the distance the Red Storm covered in between those two losses. From "next four out" four weeks ago, St. John's has climbed all the way up to a projected No. 10 seed. At 20-13, the Red Storm look like they are about to return to the tournament for the first time since 2019. (updated March 15)
Seton Hall Pirates
As often happens late in Champ Week, inactive teams are seeing their positions change in mock brackets significantly. This shift has been worrisome for Seton Hall. The Pirates were in the "last four byes" category prior to their Big East quarterfinal loss by 19 to St. John's. Then, by Friday night, Joe Lunardi was showing Shaheen Holloway's group as the last team in the field of 68. Seton Hall could of course still be fine, but the dynamics of this reputedly "strong" bubble are making the wait until Sunday evening more suspenseful than expected for the Pirates. (updated March 16)
Providence Friars
If the prevailing view is correct and Providence does not earn an at-large bid, Kim English and his team might look back once more on the ACL injury suffered by Bryce Hopkins in January. Without Hopkins, the Friars quickly fell from 2-0 in Big East play to 2-4. PC then rallied and even defeated Creighton both in Providence and at the Big East tournament. But an 11-point defeat at the hands of Marquette in the Big East semifinals appears to have stopped the 21-13 Friars just short of an at-large invite. (updated March 16)

One would think.
Especially since the NCAA owns and operates the Tournament, the selection process and the NET calculation formula.
It’s not rocket surgery to think Pitt and St John’s would be in………or is it?

Net rankings aren’t used for whether you should be in, they are used as the measuring stick of every team you play.
So you get credit for beating teams by their NET, but your actual NET doesn’t matter as much

Today I’m watching VCU v st. joes and Duq. v the bonnies. These matchups tell me how getable of a league this is.
Earlier this week at the harbor pub, the tender johnny said to me “Mr. matunuck, mr. matunuck, what do you think the rams should do this year?” and I said to him “reload.”

The NET rankings are used to determine the breakdown of quad games. The final NET rank for a particular team is however mainly only used to EXCLUDE non power conference teams. Power conference teams with bad/high NET rankings regularly get selected every year. That rarely happens with teams outside the power leagues.

Can we find the lowest NET teams to get in the tournament and the highest NET teams to be excluded ?RF1 wrote: ↑3 months ago The NET rankings are used to determine the breakdown of quad games. I think Rutgers got in with a 77 NET and I believe a couple teams who had NET below 30 been excluded ?

I don't disagree, the do have an NET #48.
Problem is they will probably take an NIT bid away from someone, maybe an A10 team.

Yes because your net doesn’t matter for the 500th time, only the net of the teams you beat mattersreef wrote: ↑3 months agoCan we find the lowest NET teams to get in the tournament and the highest NET teams to be excluded ?RF1 wrote: ↑3 months ago The NET rankings are used to determine the breakdown of quad games. Purdue will not make the FF imo.
My prediction for the natty is either UConn or Houston.

That’s what I’m thinking too , I’m hoping Purdue loss drops them to behind UConn and Houston so that could be a potential final instead of semirambone 78 wrote: ↑3 months ago Purdue will not make the FF imo.
