Re: 2024 Coaching Carousel
UMichigan and Ohio St. jobs reportedly opening at the same time. Things are going to get busy, buyouts to be paid.
SLU apparently in place to move quickly:

Amazing coaches in the Big East 77, even the 2 dregs of the conference now have 2 good coaches with proven track records

Re: 2024 Coaching Carousel
Has been at ASU for nine years with a majority of seasons (5) having a losing record including this year (14-18). Took the program to three NCAA Tournaments but failed to ever win a game (also no win at Buffalo with his sole NCAA trip there). Hurley's Sun Devils overall record is 155-130 and just 79-89 in the PAC-12. Given all the resources and expectations at a P5 school, I would think he is not meeting the grade.ramster wrote: ↑3 months ago 90-57 Arizona State loses to Utah

I would think his seat is super hot. Would also think that any high profile school that has an opening would be somewhat hesitant to hire him (assuming he is out) given his record at ASU. Bobby may have to go to a lower level if wants to continue coaching.

Re: 2024 Coaching Carousel
His name was mentioned as a candidate for DePaul, also UCF. Think ASU probably moves on, a job in the MWC, AAC, or A10 would be good for him.RF1 wrote: ↑3 months agoHas been at ASU for nine years with a majority of seasons (5) having a losing record including this year (14-18). Re: 2024 Coaching Carousel
Would think Bobby's financial situation is in a lot better position after nine seasons making several million annually at ASU. Despite having played in the NBA, he had made some bad investments and was supposedly in debt 12 years ago when he was on the URI staff.

If he is dismissed he will end up on UConn payroll.

Louisville is a dumpster fire. Pitino will have taken 2 different teams to the NCAAs 3x. Since he left Louisville has had 5 different coaches.
If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

Re: 2024 Coaching Carousel
We have Archie for at least another year and most likely 2.
If he can't get enough talent here, whether it's due to money or just poor recruiting, then he wont be extended after year 4 and let go then.
The powers that be are giving him the chance to succeed here, but the leash wont be very long.

The NIL, no sit-out transfer, world is leading to coaches being canned quicker than normal. Rebuilds can be quicker. Results expected sooner.

Re: 2024 Coaching Carousel
I mean, it also helps if you don't punch an assistant coach from another team, or (allegedly) get into a screaming match with a strength coach, or win just eight games. You can survive one or two of those things happening, but not all of them.Section104 wrote: ↑3 months ago The NIL, no sit-out transfer, world is leading to coaches being canned quicker than normal. This may be true, but doesn’t relate to Howard whatsoever.Section104 wrote: ↑3 months ago The NIL, no sit-out transfer, world is leading to coaches being canned quicker than normal. Rebuilds can be quicker. Results expected sooner.
18-16 last year.
8-24 this year with multiple incidents that were less than ideal.

Re: 2024 Coaching Carousel
Michigan short list? No names, but someone that can recruit, work the portal, handle their NIL and most importantly is not locked into a system come hell or high water and coach to adapt to the players skills…..

Re: 2024 Coaching Carousel
Brian Dutcher (San Diego State) may be on the short list.
He is a Mi. native and spent 9 years as an assistant there under Fisher.
Was a part of recruiting the Fab 5, and also there when they won a Natty (1989).
Record at SDSU (174-56) and the Championship Game in '23.

Re: 2024 Coaching Carousel
Not surprising. Many were expecting this well before they ever won the A-10 Tournament and made the NCAA field. Dambrot is of retirement age and his wife had health issues this past year. Getting to the tournament is now icing on the cake as Keith gets to go out on top.

Re: 2024 Coaching Carousel
The press conference has occurred and it is now official that Dambrot is retiring. He indicated that he was some 80% decided on retiring back in November before the season even started.

Re: 2024 Coaching Carousel
One of UConn assistants will get a head job and Bobby will rejoin Dan.
"Every season, college basketball has one or two teams that rise from dormancy to relevancy, squads that make long-awaited charges at the NCAA Tournament and become really fun storylines along the way."
