Re: Games of Interest - 2023-2024 MBB
So Ramster are you in the we should have kept Bassy on scholarship camp?
Also, has anyone challenged Miller about allowing Thomas to walk? Or has anyone in the media or elsewhere done a truly deep dive on the topic?
42 points on a CYO Cadet team is serious bucket getting. At any D1 level it’s a significant stat sheet.

We also don’t really know if Archie said he could stay and take a backup role.hrstrat57 wrote: ↑3 months ago So Ramster are you in the we should have kept Bassy on scholarship camp?

Thomas very may have left on his own.
Also it’s February, nobody in their right mind is going to ask Archie about a play who transferred almost a year ago.

Huge game for Bassy !
We been down that road Arch couldn’t guarantee him the playing time he probably wanted and Bassy found his perfect landing spot

Matthew Butler had games of 35, 31 and 27 after leaving URI. I think Thomas is better than him, but I'm still doubtful he'd be playing like this against tougher competition, and in an environment where his team wins games. It probably isn't a coincidence that Thomas is getting the green light so much for a team that's now 12-15.

Eh, not really out of nowhere.
Multiple analytics websites had them 2/3 in the preseason.
And many here laughed at that and said no chance they finish at the top.

Ya, I don't think anyone thinks Thomas would be dropping 30 or 40 pt games at URI. I don't even think he would have many 20-point games. It's the comments that he sucks that I find absolutely ridiculous.SGreenwell wrote: ↑3 months agoMatthew Butler had games of 35, 31 and 27 after leaving URI. Good, high-level basketball game, for the A10 that is, from Joe’s and VCU. Entertaining game.
Looks like VCU will pull it out to get win 18.

Re: Games of Interest - 2023-2024 MBB
South Florida is interesting to me
After starting 2-4 losing to Maine, CMU, Hostra and UMass, they are now 21-5 14-1 in the AAC with their only loss to UAB in conference.
An unbelievable turnaround, but it's also crazy that they are still nowhere near an at large team! They've had some bad losses, but it looks like they could win out to the AAC final, lose and they'd still likely be out with a 26-6 (17-1) record. Their NET is still in the 90's somehow (before today) and probably won't get much higher than 70.
Would just be lame as hell if they get left our after such a miraculous run, so we could watch some 14 loss power conference team that was under .500 get beat in the first four.

Big win for Rick today over Creighton for St John’s 3rd straight win
Rick closes out the BE playing the 3 worst teams:
@ 9th place Butler
@ 11th place and winless DePaul
Vs 10th place Georgetown

Reef,
If Loyola pulls the upset tonight at St Bonaventure then the Friday night game where Loyola will host Dayton becomes really big.
Whoever in the A10 scheduling office that put the Dayton at Loyola for the A10 Friday Night game deserves some credit.

Re: Games of Interest - 2023-2024 MBB
My thinking is the Bonnies win this at home, they are usually tough to beat at the Reilly Center.
I originally thought they had the 2nd best talent in the conference but have been inconsistent so far.
The Ramblers have been playing well, but I still like the Bonnies in this one.
Overall, I still give Richmond the edge right now in winning the A10 regular season and getting the #1 seed.
The A10T is wide open with VCU, Richmond, Dayton, Loyola, and the Bonnies all capable of winning it.

I’d guess and one of those 9 teams plus Dayton could get hot and win the A10
These last two weeks and the A10 Tournament will be very interesting and fun to watch.
The bottom 5 teams have NET’s that are way below the Top 10
The bottom 5 range from 182 to 216. Only 34 points separate these 5 bottom teams that include Fordham, LaSalle, URI, George Washington and St Louis
