GM can give Dayton a close game depending on the status of Darius Maddox (14 pts).
He missed the last 2 games with a sprained ankle.

The Dayton game with the Marquis Jones buzzer beater in 2009. Dayton had just fallen out of the rankings but by all accounts was #26.reef wrote: ↑3 months agoGood call 208 , easy court stormNYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑3 months agoYeah, I always err on the side of storming. If it's a t all a question...get out there. It only happens when it's an upset, so, who's to say what's a big enough upset? Get out there folks, storm. Although, I'm leaning back towards my UConn cover prediction...
I think if you beat the #1 team, you always storm. No exceptions.
How many times have we stormed @ Ryan Center ? I know Nebraska, any others ?
Plus that was at a time when we figured that win was going to put us on the right side of the bubble. Instead we decided to lose to a bad UMass team at home, and then lose to Duquesne in our first A10T game.
The end of that season sucked but that Dayton court storm was easily my favorite URI basketball memory when I was in school.
If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

My opinion on court storming has completely changed over the years. I used to be one to call fans out for storming when I thought they shouldn't have, now I am the complete opposite. This is supposed to be fun, you're in college, if you want to storm the court then go crazy and storm the court!
In terms of Rhody court storms, there was a court storm in '03 when Dawan hit the game winner to take down Seton Hall in the first round of the NIT. I remember because I was working the game as a student and got in trouble because the emotion took over and I ran out there, forgetting that I wasn't supposed to do that because I was working.
I'm in here somewhere...

I'm all for a good court storm, it just has to make sense.
Like I think storming as a favorite in a game generally makes you look like a loser.
I'll leave exclusions for accomplishment (such as winning the conference) or circumstance (a miracle shot).
Probably would use the same standard against a similar rated/ranked team.
If you upset a major wagon, I think court-storm should be expected.
A good storming frequency is probably once every 2-3 years, if situation allows for it. I wouldn't want to be storming every other night.

Court storming among other facets is an expression of free speech. There is never a need to put asterisks or other qualifying factors to justify it because the implication of that claim is that you only you are the arbiter of good taste. Nothing smacks more of arrogance. These are young college kids enjoying life and the experiences that come with it, so let's not stultify youthful exuberance or what makes college basketball what it is. I will always come down an the side of the open mind and free inquiry.

I heard it’s the first time ever Creighton has beaten the #1 ranked team in the country. If that doesn’t justify a good ol’ court storming don’t know what does.NYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑3 months agoNo doubt about it ...I don't care if you're #2....beat #1....get out on that floor!ramster wrote: ↑3 months agoSo should Creighton have stormed the court or not with the win over #1 Ranked Connecticut? But for me never saw a court storming I didn’t like. The more the merrier.
Just curious what RJsuperfly thinks since it’s his conference and his earlier comment here.

Dayton loses at GM 67-71, the Flyers are now in 3rd place.
We still have to play GM in the RC.
La Salle dominated the Bonnies the whole game, they win 72-59.
We play them on Sunday in Philly.
GW loses to the Joes 75-79.
They have now lost 9 straight games.

I go to the games out of both habit and interest. And will continue to attend. As I stated in Loyola games thread, I am done being down after losses, done with thinking a NCAA bid is happening in my lifetime. Still like going to games, being on campus always have. It is for me refreshing to accept the what is. And the football comment drew me back into comment here. We purchased football season tickets for the first time. Rhody rehab is open…….

Well at least 3 of our remaining games are against teams with worse records than ours.
Fordham and La Salle are both away so it won't be easy, we should beat SLU at home.
George Mason (18-8) has been up and down and just beat Dayton, plus already beat us once, so maybe we can even up the score at the RC.
I don't expect us to win at VCU.

Student Section not too full
Attendance is much like the last 4 years in February
4,252 stated but realistically about 1000 less in actual bodies in seats

If it were my team, I would have preferred not to court storm. Creighton is a Top 15 team, spread was close, game was a blowout, and Creighton sees itself as a Final Four contender.ramster wrote: ↑3 months agoI heard it’s the first time ever Creighton has beaten the #1 ranked team in the country. If that doesn’t justify a good ol’ court storming don’t know what does.NYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑3 months agoNo doubt about it ...I don't care if you're #2....beat #1....get out on that floor!
But for me never saw a court storming I didn’t like. The more the merrier.
Just curious what RJsuperfly thinks since it’s his conference and his earlier comment here.
To me that upends the ranking of the opponent.
Now do I think it's egregious? No.
I may not agree with it but I get why they did it.
I just like storms to mean something, and to many storms takes away from the impact of the truly great ones.

Some would say that some of those empty lower bowl (100 and 200) are season ticket holder seats that the people are simply not attending but a good number of them are available for purchase. Season tickets have diminished with all the tickets.
It’s been a downhill curve since Hurley left.

Because we have absolutely sucked since then. I don't even want to go to games anymore because the product on the floor is horrible. I don't get amped about a game anymore. It's a miserable existence that I wish would end.ramster wrote: ↑3 months agoSome would say that some of those empty lower bowl (100 and 200) are season ticket holder seats that the people are simply not attending but a good number of them are available for purchase. Exactly right. Ever since Cox took over the recruiting talent decreased and the corresponding team performance decreased. 4 years of Cox dug a huge hole. Hurley left the program and Cox in great shape and on an upward climb and Cox (who Hurley developed and recommended, Thorr and Dooley squandered it.theblueram wrote: ↑3 months agoBecause we have absolutely sucked since then. The deterioration in the attendance gets somewhat masked by the reported numbers. The trend is not Rhody MBB’s friend.

I had 4 season tix in 110 back with Hurley. Cut down to 2 this year and might cut down to 1 or 0 soon. Product is too frustrating for me to waste 4.5 hours each time. It’s sad, but that’s how I feel about the program right now.theblueram wrote: ↑3 months agoBecause we have absolutely sucked since then.
