I think that iso turnover in the early 2nd half was enough for Archie.
Kid has talent but he blatantly ignores coaching and just does what he wants.
If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

Re: 1/31 | La Salle | 7:00PM (ESPN+)
Tyson Brown played much better defense and kept a few offensive possessions alive battling for boards... Fou is the better offensive player, but when he's out of control and giving up multiple layups, it's time to sit him. I think he would have played again if Brown wasn't making an impact, but he was so he kept him out there.

He is like a wild horse at times. Archie and staff have to break him without him getting frustrated enough to transfer. He has an excellent future here if he trusts the coaching.

Foumena hurt his back on the big fall he took in first half. Was on stationary bike most of 2nd half.
What an ugly game by 2 ugly teams. Pat on back to Tyson Brown for multiple hustle plays in 2nd half. A win is a win.

Part of the reason Yorke was so noticeable might have to do with the fact that there were not that many fans there...I mean, there were times we could hear Arch on the court...DeanDome88 wrote: ↑4 months agoUnfortunately it is par for the course. Loudmouth Yorke with too many amps.

Yes they stink, TBR. But, I think what Brady is getting at (and I hope he corrects me if I am wrong) is how 15 is compelled to remind everyone he was right and PRT wasn’t.theblueram wrote: ↑4 months agoI rarely defend 15, but Brady you are off your rocker tonight. We all could see from tonight that LaSalle didn’t not have a good game tonight. We all mostly read through the posts this week leading up to the game.
Typical dick move. Like a fragile child keeping score.

I wonder if our depth wore LaS down tonight. I didn’t watch tonight so I couldn’t notice if it did or not.

Rhody15 said they are awful by every measure which is just dumb. I didn't even said they are good. By "not that bad" they can beat pretty much anyone in the A-10 not named Dayton. Kinda like us. You'd think I picked them to go to the final 4.

La Salle played smart, just don't have the athletes we do, but their offensive execution was way better than ours. Fran Dunphy is a helluva coach.
Oh but yeah, no matter how many decent teams they've beaten, tournament teams they've come close to beating and how they were only down single digits for a half AT Duke...yeah they are just totally awful. Nothing is good about them at all! Every team we have beaten stinks this year. Everyone but Richmond and Dayton SUCK in the A-10....but you know what? They suck because they are in the A-10! Everyone sucks!

You are pretty hopeless lol you refuse to wrap your mind about what I'm saying.
By not that bad I mean, they CAN play WELL. Are they a good team? No. My point is, sometimes they play well, that's how they have a winning record and that's how they have competed with really good teams. In the context of the original discussion I mentioned that they weren't that bad, in lieu to my have seen them be competitive with the Duke's, Miami's and Dayton's of the world. Their ability to be competitive in those games suggested to me that in wasn't going to be easy for us to beat them. Because....they aren't THAT bad. If they'd been getting blown out all year I wouldn't have said that.
I get your perspective. It's simple. Typical everyone sucks argument. Yes their NET and A-10 record stinks, but that doesnt mean they dont have their moments. You're just REFUSING to consider my perspective at all, either because you're too dumb or you only argue in bad faith. Ha, it's probably both.

Lost @ Duke by 29.
Lost @ Miami by 7.
Lost home Dayton by 12.
Lost @ Temple by 7 in 3 OTs.
Lost home to HOWARD by 5.
If that’s your barometer for “not that bad” then sure, you nailed it.
To me, that means they stink.
Sure, it wasn’t going to be easy for us to beat them.

He has a career winning % of over .600 and his overall record this season is 11-10 currently.
I am confident Archie would agree that, even at 75 yrs old, he - and by extension, his team - is a difficult adversary to compete against.
15’s strong opinion, in my strong opinion, is superficial, lazy, highly reactionary and reliant on recency bias. It is wrong. Therefore….
It is what it is: Advantage PRT.
Unfortunately, someone here on KB may not like my strong opinion above or may be offended by it. Remember, it’s nothing personal. We are all Rhody fans here. But just like 15, when I see an opinion so off base/ so wrong, I am strongly compelled to call it out….at least for tonight before morphing back into my imperfect self tomorrow.

That’s so true , LaSalle shot 36 % field and 26 % from 3 yet we only win by 2 , also LaSalle was 9-18 from linePeterRamTime wrote: ↑4 months agoWe are lucky La Salle missed a million wide open threes as well...Jdrums#3 wrote: ↑4 months agoThanks for clarifying my recollection, PRT.PeterRamTime wrote: ↑4 months ago

This is a very ugly win which we don’t feel to good about but we got it so I guess we will move on to the Dukes and we are 4-4 in conference now
Also Arch mentioned Fou took a spill which limited his 2h minutes and he said Fuchs was just out of sorts tonight

I was also predicting that LaSalle would be a tough game. Based on the return of most of their team last season plus some key new additions. LaSalle played 3 games last year in A10 Tourney.
I agree with you that we were lucky LaSalle had an off shooting night. They did, however, I’d say it was the best I’ve seen URI play defense extended out to the 3P line. LaSalle had to pass multiple times around the perimeter because we were so strong. Sometimes the shot clock ran out or LaSalle was forced to take a less than ideal shot. Combo of both.
Had LaSalle shot more their norm and had URI not stepped up the perimeter Defense we would have lost by lot.
Saying LaSalle would be a tough out was right. Miller is now 0-4 vs the point spread vs Fran Dunphy in the LaSalle-URI series between the two.
Jdrums,
Dunphy is a Philly legend. Over 600 wins as a Coach. Note how he shows his appreciation below for the players who played for him.
I watched Dunphy on the A10 Media Day back in October because I wanted to listen to the observations of a Philly legend. He did not disappoint. If you get a chance go back and listen to him on media day.
A10 is fortunate to have him. He is Coaching LaSalle for his 2nd year because he played at LaSalle. He is also supporting improvements to the Basketball facility during his time there.
PHILADELPHIA -- La Salle coach Fran Dunphy won his 600th career game, hitting the milestone Sunday in the Explorers' 81-62 win over Coppin State.
Dunphy, 75, is the 43rd NCAA Division I coach to win 600 games.
Dunphy won 310 games as head coach at Penn from 1989 to 2006 and 270 at Temple from 2006 to 2019.
"I've been in coaching a lot of years and am appreciative of the guys that played for me," Dunphy said Sunday.
Dunphy was coaxed out of retirement last season to lead the program where he served as co-captain and helped the Explorers to a 23-1 record in 1969 under coach Tom Gola. Dunphy led the Explorers to 15 wins last year, and they are 5-1 this season.

Bottom line game was close as PRT and I both cautioned.Rhody15 wrote: ↑4 months agoPeterRamTime wrote: ↑4 months agoYikes, that's all you got?
That’s because we’re not all that good either.
An off shooting night for LaSalle combined with an extended defensive pressure on ball around the 3 point perimeter helped URI to the 2 point win but loss vs the 2.5 point spread. Had LaSalle shot closer to their season average and URI played a softer perimeter defense we could have easily experienced a double digit loss.
We also don’t win this game if David Green and URI did not benefit from the unexpected court order in December. Green put the team on his back the crucial last few minutes of the game.
Fran Dunphy is a heck of a coach as PRT said. A10 is fortunate to have a 600+ career win HC who played for the team he now coaches.
LaSalle at Philly will be a tough game. We have now seen what this year’s URI roster is capable of playing at home vs LaSalle.
Glad we won a nail biter.
