There is nothing this team does well defensively - can’t guard the perimeter, can’t stay in front of their man, can’t fight through screens, can’t guard in transition, can’t defend the rim, and can’t rebound
Let me preface by saying I know nothing about basketball…
But I see this all the time…
Guy gets beat, his man is open…
Teammates all leave their guys to give help…
Other team makes three passes around the perimeter,
comically trailed by five blue shirts…
And the third pass leads to a wide-open three.
And our opponents outside shooting percentage is like 60.
Seems like the jolt received from the addition of David Green, the return of Fuchs, Kortright’s solid play, etc etc has all just faded away. Can tolerate a lack of talent to some degree, but I can’t stand the inconsistency with the effort. Defensive effort is pathetic.
This is a season where Rhody fans should be THANKFUL that URI plays most all the A-10's best teams just once. Just imagine having to endure a second game versus both Dayton and St Bonaventure.

This Ram team is very immature with a shocking inability to protect the ball. Expect them to suffer a second straight rout on the road.
Don't know if you get the memo, but part of being a member of this community is to have optimism even in a slow rebuild ...
The game hasn't even been played. There are random upsets that happen all the time where an underestimated unranked team plays with house money on the road and defeats a much stronger and supposedly more capable team.
That's the nature of college basketball. Games can't always be decided by the eye test. Sometimes they're pure chaos and that's what makes this sport so fun.

They have a second half to change the tone and stop the bleeding. Last game they didn’t improve at all. This is an important halftime.
Was just thinking the same as you and Backroads, up above.
Hoping they can come out and show some pride, adjustments and improvements that they can carry into the next game to get out of this funk.
Let’s go!
ETA Guess not! Brutal.

It seems to follows the recent poll where 85% of fans that voted thought that URI would get a bye (place 1-9) in the A-10 Tournament. My reading of this forum for several years is that logic and reason very often take a back seat to emotion.
This is how Archie has us come out of the half? Tyson Brown starts and we go down 10000. I praised Archie during his run but teams know who David Green is now. Teams are doubling him and we have no answer. The worst part is we are sticking with the same defense. LIke try literally anything different. It can't get any worse than this!

Maybe instead of paying Archie 2.5 mil a year, we could get David Cox back for $750k a year and just BUY an all star team with the rest of the money.
Don't worry I'm sure we got another 3 game win streak in us before we get blown out by 30 again

How the heck can you get spanked like this so badly, twice in a row? How far back you have to go to find consecutive 30+ point losses?

Archie still has a lot of work to do. Our point guard position sucks right now. Luis is not a point guard. He's a solid guard who's forced to play point. Ways is terrible. Hammond will help but I hope we bring on another seasoned point next year to help teach Hammond the ropes.
We need to upgrade the wing position. Weston will be gone, most likely. Zek apparently sucks now. We could have used a player like Pride this season. Farrell is a fantastic defender, but he's so far away on the offensive end.
I like the frontcourt with Fou Fuchs Green.
Why am I talking about next year? Because we are down 30 again. We had an incredible opportunity to show our fanbase and the league that Archie Miller and Rhode Island are coming! We start 3-0, and we have two huge games on paper to prove to people that we actually belong. And even if we lost both but played a good competitive game, that would have been enough for most of us. Instead, we look like a D2 team. We looked checked out. We look like a poorly coached team. At least last year, we were consistently bad. This season we have looked great in moments. Man this sucks..

If you are going to reference his salary, at least get it right. Miller is probably at about $1.5M for this season.

These last two games have brought back bad memories of Jerry D and his URI teams. Hopefully nothing ever gets as bad at that Temple game at the PCC.

Fou outplays Brown and Fuchs for three straight games now, yet he rots on the bench.
Make it make sense.
Fou isn’t exactly lighting things up, has 1 FG and it was a brick 3pt that somehow went in and zero rebounds.
Its not that
It's energy, the way he moves, how hard he plays. If Brown and Fuchs are off they are super slow and just take up space and can't make lay ups, guard anyone or jump and grab a rebound.
Cox teams were bad too but they usually lead at every half and then just rolled over in the second half. Millers tenure is tough. I don’t feel optimistic.

I notice this. Nobody runs out there. They all shuffle their feet and kind of watch.
