12/28 | Harvard | 6 pm (ESPN+)
Thursday night the URI women (7-5) will finish their non-conference schedule in the Ryan Center against Harvard (6-5), who beat us twice at their place last season. They beat us 88-74 in the regular season and ended our season with a 74-63 victory in our NIT matchup.
Junior guard Harmoni Turner leads Harvard with 20.6 points per game, is second in rebounds per game at 5.6, is second in assists at 35, is second with 26 turnovers, is second in steals with 16, but has not played since their 12/2 game at Michigan, missing the last three contests. Senior guard Lola Mullaney is second with 15.5 points per game, third in rebounds at 4.5 per game, fourth in assists with 20, third in turnovers at 25, and first in steals with 18. Junior guard Elena Rodriguez is third in points with 11.5, first in rebounds with 6.7, first in assists with 40, first in turnovers with 29, third in steals with 18, and tied for most blocks with 9. Sophomore forward Katie Krupa has the co-lead with 9 blocks, is fourth in points with 8.5, and third in assists with 20.
In terms of common opponents, we won vs UMass Lowell 78-38, Harvard won at Lowell 62-41. We lost at Maine 59-48, Harvard lost at Maine 79-61. We lost vs Quinnipiac 61-59, Harvard won 85-41.
Harvard has an all time series edge of 12-9 going back to 1993, including the last two games. We have a 7-4 edge in the series in Kingston, including a 70-46 win on 11/23/21, the last time we played each other in the Ryan Center.
Massey Ratings gives the #105 (#75 NET) Rams a 57% chance of beating the #91 (#89 NET) Crimson, with a projected final of 66-63

Massey might want to contact Tammi before the game and ask if anyone was late for the bus this week.
Could be the difference in whether Jekyll or Hyde shows up.
I mean, pretty hard to make in game adjustments when you've already decided before the game that two of your best players aren't getting in there, no matter what happens in real time.
Just sayin'

As of 12/11 Harmoni Turner is listed as being out indefinitely due to needing knee surgery:

No. People on here have been complaining that certain players haven't been getting run, most notably Eva DeChent and Kattie Ledden. Tammi kind of addressed the message board in the postgame after Le Moyne saying it's kind of funny reading the opinions on the message board and knowing those people don't know what's going on behind the scenes

Noooooooo.
She flat out said, if you are late for the bus, you don't play. I didn't say that. Tammi did.
So, I said, Massey might want to consult the coach on who isn't playing before each game, on GAME DAY, before making any sort of prediction on who is going to win.
Not some cutesy... she thought it was funny what people say on message boards <--- what does that even mean?
No one knows what goes on on ANY TEAM behind the scenes, unless the coach owns up to it, which she did.

Perhaps Tammi ought to consult Coaching 101 Rules #1 and #2, which are, namely...
#1 never admit you read internet message boards
and
#2 never use the fans as an excuse as to why you are losing
Fans don't cause teams to lose.

Re: 12/28 | Harvard | 6 pm (ESPN+)
I mean, think of it this way.
When Pete Gillen gave his "foxhole" speech to the media while he was coach at PC, and Rick Pitino gave his "Larry Bird isn't walking through that door" speech while he was coach of the Celtics, both PC guys btw, they were PATHETIC. And that's why those sound bites live in infamy. They've been played over and over, thousands of times, to show you what a slow train wreck reaching it's end, looks like.
But, at least they were talking about fans who were actually at the game. People booing and hissing their teams poor performances during the actual games. Tammi is talking about "scorpio" or "PeteRI" made a comment about her players free throw shooting on KeaneyBlue.com, the internet, practically social media, and now they don't have the confidence to perform in games.
What??
Is that really the message you want to rally around here, as fans? You agree with Tammi on this? KB is responsible for her team going to St John's and losing in a glorified high school gym? Or is it her, and the decisions she makes?

Dude, what are you even talking about?
She isn't blaming fans for losing or whatever it is you think she's saying. She made a comment that people on a message board don't see what happens behind the scenes and playing time is earned, not just handed out. That seems like a very accurate and fair message to me

Re: 12/28 | Harvard | 6 pm (ESPN+)
I listened to her post game presser. She said her players read this message board and lost confidence in their ability to shoot the ball in games because of some of the comments here.
Like, that is completely unnecessary. What's next? Fleming is going to come on here and say his team tanked at home against Richmond because comments on KB were too harsh? And no, I don't think he would do that.
"very accurate and fair message"?

Re: 12/28 | Harvard | 6 pm (ESPN+)
That's not true, I listened to the whole press conference, she said they hear it from the questions from the media "you can't shoot, you're struggling shooting, etc." and she said that effects their confidence the more they are hearing it. They needed a break and re-set to get their minds right and get their confidence back.jcru wrote: ↑5 months ago I listened to her post game presser. The only comment she made regarding the message board was when she said people commenting on who should play more, and why don't you play so-and-so. She said those people making those comments don't see what goes on behind the scenes, how they are practicing, etc. Specifically, about Eva wasn't competing in practice and hadn't earned playing time.
It was never stated that they players read the message boards.

jcru....you seem quite upset with Tammi's handling of the team. ECR seems to have a pipeline to Thorr, maybe you can get him to send a note for you, telling her to clean it up?

I'm not really upset with Tammi as a coach. I simply took a little offense to the attitude of "yeah! good for Tammi, telling those know nothings at KB off".
Fans are not responsible for your team losing. They merely react to your team losing when the results don't match the expectations.

Didn't hold the door for teammate at library and then followed that up with a "no tip" on iced coffee the same week.

Re: 12/28 | Harvard | 6 pm (ESPN+)
Excellent win tonight vs a very tough and good Harvard team
Dutat has started the last 3 games: St John’s, Lemoyne and Harvard. Tammi said she had earned the starting spot in practice.
Dutat has played more total minutes than anyone on the team the past 3 games:
- 34 minutes vs St John’s was 2nd to Hyman’s 35
- 28 minutes vs Lemoyne was team hi
- 35 minutes vs Harvard was team hi
Dutat was key in bringing the ball up the court against Harvard’s pressure defense. She dribbled and passed effectively as she threw the ball in and worked with Davis, Debroise and Hyman to move the ball across half court.
Most minutes with 35 vs Harvard and she was only URI starter without a turnover
Dutat had a game hi 5 offensive rebounds and a team hi 10 rebounds
DeChent got in midway through Q1 and played well offensively and defensively.
Good crowd of 1400+ that was energetic and loud at times

This angle is even better. The Harvard defender did everything but tackle Sophie yet she nailed the 3. After the amazing 3 the defender puts her hands up to her head in disbelief. Love it!

Re: 12/28 | Harvard | 6 pm (ESPN+)
The defender was Saniyah Glenn-Bello, a 6’0” Sophomore. She played excellent defense on Phillips but couldn’t stop this amazing shot. Saniyah
Glenn-Bello Played excellent defense the whole game as did the entire Harvard team in most cases a zone defense.
