I hope Fleming has a top RB on speed dial. You know, someone dominant like Kevin Brown Jr. I'm not asking for much.

No surprise, AJ Peña is entering the portal. I’d expect Buchanan to join as well. Fleming has his work cut out for him.

Re: 2023 offseason transfer portal - top post is updated
Most aren’t getting NIL money. AJ Cornelius and probably Antonio Carter, yes. Most think their talent is greater than their ability. Of the 3 DL transfers from last season, 2 went G-5 schools as backups, and the other paid to walk on at FSU to never play. The grass may be greener for some but not most. For better or worse this is college football.

Re: 2023 offseason transfer portal - top post is updated
These 2 All Conference Performers are transferring to URI as GRAD Transfers with 1 year of eligibility remaining
Arsheen Jiles, a senior defensive back from Montclair, N.J., recorded another impressive season for the Pioneers this fall. He has earned back-to-back year-end recognition from the NEC, but his first First Team selection. Jiles finished within the top five in the league in passes defended behind seven pass breakups and one interception. He forced a team-leading two fumbles this season while recovering one fumble against Merrimack. He also tallied 38 tackles and one sack.
Carson Primrose, a senior defensive lineman from Pittsburgh, Pa., was a big part of the Pioneers' defensive line success this season. For the second straight year, Primrose was selection to the Second Team. Playing in all 12 games, Primrose finished the fall campaign with 45 tackles, 2.0 sacks, and 5.5 tackles-for-loss. His two sacks, including one against Yale, ranked him second on the team, while his 5.5 tackles for loss put him third on the team.

So far... we're not doing too bad. Pena staying was absolutely humongous, pass rushers like that do not grow on trees.
And the three pick ups from Sacred Heart look really good.

Re: 2023 offseason transfer portal - top post is updated
So is this URI football rebuilding or restocking? To me, the latter means this is a team that will continue to win more than they lose. Do we have the next QB to lead us to the playoffs. Biggest question by far. This program has shown it can bring in new players for the open positions. I wouldn’t say QB, seeing they brought in Hill but it’s so tough to bring in the game changing QB and I’m not sure if they what have I house will fit the bill.

The little I saw of Farrell this season... I liked.
In this age of the NCAA, where everyone leaves if they don't get what they want, the fact that Farrell is still here tends to make me think the starting job is his.
Could be worse. Could be like New Hampshire, where Max Brosmer left for Minnesota. He was their entire offense.

Since Hill didn't lead the team to the playoffs his staying only delayed development of next QB

I like Farrell. Wish he had played more this season.jcru wrote: ↑5 months ago The little I saw of Farrell this season... I liked.
In this age of the NCAA, where everyone leaves if they don't get what they want, the fact that Farrell is still here tends to make me think the starting job is his.
Could be worse. Could be like New Hampshire, where Max Brosmer left for Minnesota. He was their entire offense.
