Why are you so divisive? You can't just say BlueRam, Hammond is a 4*? Like I'm saying something intentionally wrong to make a point? I didn’t watch the game but saw all the score updates
I think we all over estimated Arch would turn things around quicker and looks like that might not happen
An 11-15th place finish could be in play here and it sucks !

Re: 12/10 | Charleston | 2:00PM (FloHoops)
Hammond is a very good point guard. However, he's best with good shooters and scorers around him. He thrives at putting players in great positions to score. I was very excited about the future backcourt of him and Cam. Right now, I agree. I really can't be excited about anything. I like some of our pieces, but plenty of bad teams have a couple of great players. Cam looked good today. Connor has some nice moments as well.. Who knows if these guys even end up sticking around...section(105) wrote: ↑6 months agoSo, we/ll go gaga cause he wants us. Archies’s high on him? We/ll see how that works out. We know he did win at one time with good players. Can he get those players and can he still win are the questions. It’s the horse we are riding in on for a while so we’d better hope the answer is yes.

If he were bigger, he'd be the starting point guard on a top-25 team. We are lucky he's 5'8. He's been playing and excelling against bigger dudes his entire life. Just like Fatts. He'll be a strong D1 player. Honestly, Hammond is one of the rare positive things to think about regarding our program.theblueram wrote: ↑6 months agoWhy are you so divisive? Know what? I am really getting tired of the suck fest the program has become. Including false hopes sprinkled about by those involved. Steady growth and progress does not seem to becoming our way. The college basketball keeps changing, and we seem to falling further and further behind. Super discouraged. Sorry to whine. Out.

Not sure why we think URI is going to be a bracket buster anytime in the near future. If you are a recruit and visit campus what are the chances a high level recruit is gonna say "Hell yeah, I wanna go here!" Because of the 3 months of beach time? Remember, it used to be called cow college. Built a fine arena but the rest- yeah not so much. Recruits are far more likely to go to Philly, NYC, DC. I am a bit concerned about Miller and his demeanor on the sidelines- not much chemistry with the boys. Sec 105 I am in complete agreement- all the preseason hype and stuff keeps us fired up until . . . always a let down. I give Archie two more years. How embarrassing to have the greats honored at the Brown game and LOSE!!

The problem Reef is progress. Or lack of. We are not seeing it. We just got spanked by 15. By a team that's not even top 100. Archie has only 1 win I believe on the road at URI. Not good.

He’s a great basketball mind. Fact. He’s taken a similar program in the same conference further than we’ve been in 25 years in the recent past.
But this team is full of kids that look like they don’t want to play. That’s on the coach.
I think he can figure it out for sure, but the last 3 games are 100% on the coach.

Eh, I wouldn't say that. I think he had some good defensive possessions. He had some issues against the bigger, stronger guard driving to the hoop, which makes sense as a freshman. Something great to see is that he actually had the ability to cause some turnovers which hasn't happened at all this season. Cam ended up with 2 steals today. 3-6 from 3 and 13 pts. He was one of our better players today.

Re: 12/10 | Charleston | 2:00PM (FloHoops)
I’m actually kind of in agreement with 22 here.
I’ll give one more pass season but then the seat will be warm. We should be migrating this season from Pitino to Wheeler, the bold move was made to Harrick which is the only reason we have a great on campus arena let’s be honest. Went with Cox instead and paid the price. Another rebuild.
Miller was a strong hire but these are tough times. I’m not convinced that this basketball reality (with hard to avoid frequent roster turnover) supports the pack line system.
Time will tell but it’s not working against talented opposition. There could be multiple reasons for that.
Crushing UNH and Northeastern is mandatory in the short term.
Disappointment prevails so far….

Yeah I mean I'm as down as possible at the moment but let's cool it with the hot seat talk.
If the season progresses like the last week? Sure, next year is a prove it or move it.
The reality is that this was a heavy rebuild for everything - culture, players, fans, program, brand, etc. It can't be done or judged within 2 years. Certainly not in December of year 2.
I would bet we will turn it around (otherwise I will probably not survive through March).

Yeah the hot seat talk is way premature. You don't give 4 years to David Cox and then turn around fire Archie sooner than that. Honestly I think any coach deserves at least 4 or 5 years, unless there are some crazy off the court issues.

Re: 12/10 | Charleston | 2:00PM (FloHoops)
David Cox had no head coaching resume, went 7-10 in conference in year 3, there were no expectations the team would go to the tournament in year 4, we were losing players at twice the national average despite one of his strengths being the supposed ability to keep the roster together, at the end of year 3 he admitted in a press conference that they scouted for a player that the board knew wouldn't be suiting up, and had made no improvements in his first three years, he kept making the same mistakes.
I thought he should have been fired after year 3, but we kept him around. There's no way this school gives Archie less than four years based on the above, and with his resume there's no way he should get less than four. Talking about a hot seat before conference play starts in year 2 is dumb, but makes sense considering we apparently live in the dumbest timeline humanly possible

Look at St John's and Pitino for anyone who thinks this shit is easy. He's probably the greatest living coach and is struggling with a first year squad.
While NIL and Portal make it easier to acquire players they don't make it any easier to build a winning culture and program.

I just do not believe we will lose to both UNH and Northeastern.

Yeah I’m an Arch guy , I like the way he carries himself and root for him to do well so I’m for giving him a full 4 years to get this team where it needs to be , if we are still struggling after year 4 then I am open to change

“I like the way he carries hismelf” shouldn’t be a qualifier for keeping a head coach.
And I would sure hope you’d “root for him to do well” seeing how he's the head coach.
Would be weird if you didn’t root for him.

Re: 12/10 | Charleston | 2:00PM (FloHoops)
I will disagree, 15.
First, carrying yourself has to do with character - which gets to the heart of who a person is, how he treats others, communicates, etc. It is more of a soft skills catch-all saying and soft-skills, character are important, imho. Perhaps not the most important for some when considering a coach but important none the less.
Not to speak for Reef, but I believe that is what he was getting at with “carries himself.”
Secondly, I wouldn’t assume everyone roots for their coach deep down. Some fans may not like their coach due to a lack of production in their subjective view, how he carries himself/herself, lack of like-ability or for non-sensical reasons and thus root for them to not do well or straight out fail. It could be a combination of reasons. It’s rare superficial behavior from real fans but people can be emotional, superficial, spiteful and vengeful at times and get carried away. But again, it is rare or not the norm, perhaps.
That said, I don’t see a problem with Reef reminding me of that when frustration (particularly my frustration) with the program is building. It gives me insight into his thought process and level of patience.
