Holy crap, what an emBARONsing response from Michele Nota. Her box of decorations comment comes off as almost flippant although I doubt that was her intent.
I've talked with her a few times over the years and I can confirm she does suck.

Question???
Does URI take advantage of being the away team and stay in a hotel in Providence?
I remember the days of car parades going up to the civic center but with that said I know easy Ed use to take advantage of URI being the home team and staying in Newport on the home teams dime.
So I wonder if URI now does the same.
Probably not because we know the athletic department does not want to ruffle any feathers.

Two years ago, this pre-game event sold out within minutes. As soon as I received the announcement I tried to register. Sold out. In looking over the attendee list, it appeared that a few folks registered many guests that appeared to be PC fans. The event was at the Malted Barley. I made a stink with Alumni folks and eventually got in. Maybe they evaluated their handling this event and decided to pass this year.

I’m sorry but I’m still in awe (in a bad way) about that nonchalant standoff-ish email the alumni relations staffer sent.
That response is wrong in so many ways.
They do a postgame event at Mohegan, but not a pregame 30 mins up the road against our rival?

Disagree. We don’t have to play a rock fight style. We’re a better shooting team than them. We’d rather be running and in transition.
PC despite their talent in the backcourt has a glaring deficiency when it comes to ball security. They turn it over.
We are exactly the team that can beat them.
It’s going to come down to team defense and communication in restriction of access to the basket, and dealing with Oduros spacing and Hopkins scoring.

Re: 12/2 | Providence | 7:30PM (FS1)
Good points but I am not thinking rock fight as in poor shooting offenses. I am thinking a more deliberate game as I think their length and athleticism will give us trouble when we are on O so we will need to hold them in the 60’s and hit a high percentage of 2’s as I am not so sure we will get many clean looks from 3.Blue Man wrote: ↑6 months agoDisagree. I am not sure we can run on them. Can we rebound on the D end sufficiently to get out and run to offset their length on D ? I am not so sure with big B on a limits restriction.
Can we turn them over at 15 plus turnovers to run ? Maybe or more likely. The Friars haven’t taken great care of the ball to date.
However, to limit TO’s in transition and take advantage with Oduro and Hopkins, I have a feeling the Friars will be deliberate and try to pound us down low when they are on O and get our bigs in foul trouble to then pound us down low even more. Then use that to open up clean looks from 3.
That said, it’s an emotional rivalry game so anything is possible. “Everyone has a plan until they are punched in the mouth.” - Mike Tyson
I sure would like to see us come out punching them first and run their ass.
Go Rhody!
