Boy, not sure how St Bona was picked 3rd in the pre-season poll, they look terrible in the 10 minutes of this game I've seen. They are especially bad on defense in the paint. I think we match up very favorable with them. Schmidt doing his best Cox impression already burning all his TO's with 12:00 remaining, trailing by 12

Almost like none of the preseason polls are worth anything. Like the experts might actually not know what they’re talking about.Shinze88 wrote: ↑7 months ago Boy, not sure how St Bona was picked 3rd in the pre-season poll, they look terrible in the 10 minutes of this game I've seen. Bad day for the A10, terrible loss for the Bonnies and Fordham.
Canisius shot 50% from 3PT, the Bonnies only 20%.
The Bonnies also 19 turnovers.

ETA: Oops, just checked the schedule quickly and saw we don’t play Davidson home this season so that will make it a tougher game. But, screw it, I still think we can beat them.

Two late games with impressive A-10 wins - Richmond routed Siena, 90-48 and Loyola Chicago dismantled Eastern Illinois, 80-65. Siena had opened its season with a win over Holy Cross which just knocked off Georgetown.

I remember March 2022 someone posted Leggett was a D2 player, said Carey should be starting over Leggett and Carey was a better player than Leggett and "it was not even close". Cox leaves, Miller comes in and immediately identifies the talent in Leggett. Defines Leggett's role, gives him confidence and Leggett becomes URI's best player. Leggett now at ACC Pittsburgh 14.5 ppg, 8 reg and 3.5 apg in starting lineup. Good for him.Blue Man wrote: ↑7 months agoOnyekaba went for 21 and 11 once.PeterRamTime wrote: ↑7 months agoNot a D1 player...bigappleram wrote: ↑7 months ago Sebastian Thomas with 24pts and 5 assists as Albany beats Columbia.
Thomas yesterday vs Columbia:
Game Highs with:
39 minutes
24 points
9 FT's hitting 9-10
5 Assists (tied) and only 1 TO in 39 minutes
7 rebounds were 2nd highest in game
In 2 games Thomas is 4-6 3P = 67% and 15-17 FTs = 88%. I know, I know, it's early. But it's also early to call him "Not a D1 Player"
American East Level is one thing true, but sometimes a Change of scenery is big. New team, new city, new coaching staff. Confidence is huge for some players and to different degrees. I always thought Thomas could shoot Its (as he did in RI State Championship games) but he seemed nervous. FT Shooting is much impacted by confidence. Confidence comes from practice, practice, practice and from encouragement from others. Plus success breeds success.
If Thomas is not a D1 player then what does that say for all the Columbia and Albany players?
I wish Thomas the best, especially being a RI kid from Providence and Bishop Hendricken HS.

Re: Games of Interest - 2023-2024 MBB
More on the confidence side of things - what Albany's HC says about him.
“I think he’s got a chance to be the best point guard in the league,” Killings said. “My standard for him is really high and I think there’s some days where, it may not be his favorite thing, but I think he’s got a chance to have a perfect game. When I’m saying that, 10 assists, no turnovers. He has the ability to impact the game on offense and defense. He’s got a gift. He makes players better.”
Even with UAlbany’s addition of Thomas and four other transfers, the America East coaches don’t expect the Great Danes to be much better than last season. The Great Danes were chosen seventh of nine teams in the preseason coaches’ poll announced Wednesday.
“I don’t agree with it,” Thomas said. “I think we’re better than that, but it is what it is. Being picked seventh, I think on the positive side, nobody expects us to do good, so I feel we can prove a lot of people wrong in our conference and hopefully this season we’re higher than seventh.”
Doesn't sound like a D2 Player to his new HC

By Dec 31 this November 11 "Thomas is not a D1 Player" statement could rank right up there with the March 2022 "Leggett is a D2 Player" statement. Let the OOC Games layout, it's still very early.Jersey77 wrote: ↑7 months agoHe is definitely a Div. 1 player and good kid with a great attitude.ramster wrote: ↑7 months agoI remember March 2022 someone posted Leggett was a D2 player, said Carey should be starting over Leggett and Carey was a better player than Leggett and "it was not even close". Re: Games of Interest - 2023-2024 MBB
Sunday, November 12, 2023 03:00 PM (ET) Matchup
Last Meeting ( Nov 17, 2016 ) Clemson 95, Davidson 78
Davidson will be out to make a statement Sunday when it faces Clemson in the title game of the Asheville (N.C.) Championship.
The Wildcats held off Maryland 64-61 in the tournament opener Friday as freshman Bobby Durkin scored 16 points, including a 3-pointer with 12.7 seconds remaining.
Angelo Brizzi scored 10 points with six steals, and David Skogman added nine points for Davidson (2-0). Brizzi scored four points in a 6-2 run that gave Davidson a 57-49 lead with 3:54 remaining. But Maryland tied the score 61-61 with 37 seconds remaining.
Durkin's game-winner came after he slid open on the right wing and buried his fourth 3-pointer in five attempts. Maryland missed a 3-point attempt with five seconds remaining.
"I believe that we are doing the right things here as a coaching staff," Davidson head coach Matt McKillop said. "I believe we are doing the right things with the people we're trying to bring into this program."
Clemson (2-0) will enter as the favorite Sunday after holding on for a 77-76 victory over UAB in Friday's second game at Asheville. The Tigers needed to rally from a nine-point deficit with just under seven minutes remaining to pull off the victory.
Center PJ Hall had 27 points for Clemson on 11-of-18 shooting from the field, while playing 35 minutes. He also had a game-high nine rebounds with three blocked shots. Chase Hunter had 16 points for the Tigers, including two free throws with three seconds remaining to put the Tigers in the lead.
Going back to last season, Hall has 13 consecutive double-digit scoring games. He also has 17 games with at least 20 points for the Tigers during that span.
"This was a hard-fought game and they can kind of make you play ugly at times," Clemson head coach Brad Brownell said, according to the Greenville (S.C.) News. "I'm proud of our team for just hanging in there. It was a bumper-car type of game."
Clemson was 6 of 19 from 3-point range against UAB.
"I just kept trying to get our guys to relax," Brownell said. "Offensively, I thought we were just a little hyper, especially early in the game. ... We got a bunch of good shots, we just couldn't make any."

Tsimibilia wasn't the only one missing for Fordham. The game had few fans as well. While Fordham will never get appreciably high attendance numbers due it its small gym (listed capacity at 3,200), they still have trouble coming anywhere filling it up. There were just 847 in the stands for yesterday's 1pm game on a Saturday. They only had 1,837 for their first game and have a YTD average of 1,342. These numbers despite coming off their best ever year in the A-10 (30 some odd years) and being located in the largest population metro in the USA.Jersey77 wrote: ↑7 months agoNo excuses for this bad loss, but Tsimibila their all-conference defensive center didn’t play. I read in Fordham board he aggravated an ankle injuryJersey77 wrote: ↑7 months agoNo excuses for this bad loss, but Tsimibila their all-conference defensive center didn’t play. Not sure why.PeterRamTime wrote: ↑7 months ago Fordham almost came back and won
But joins VCU on adding another 200+ NET loss to the conference.
And this from Fordham post game write up
the Rams (1-1) were without the services of Abdou Tsimbila, who missed the contest after tweaking his ankle in practice earlier this week.

He's just not that bad of a player. Also had 19 against UMassBlue Man wrote: ↑7 months agoOnyekaba went for 21 and 11 once.PeterRamTime wrote: ↑7 months agoNot a D1 player...bigappleram wrote: ↑7 months ago Sebastian Thomas with 24pts and 5 assists as Albany beats Columbia.

Bassy is in a perfect spot. He can take 15+ shots a game, he can get big minutes, and won’t have the pressure of other guards taking his spot like he would have here. I think he’s going to put up good numbers with this role.. I wish him nothing but the best but he dropped down a level for a reason.

I'm confused. You said he is not a D1 Player. What is he? D2? D3? None of the above?PeterRamTime wrote: ↑7 months agoHe's just not that bad of a player. Also had 19 against UMass

I was being sarcastic towards the ppl that said he's not a d1 player
