Wondering how many recruits who identify URI as “RHODE ISLAND UNIVERSITY” actually commit?

Just thought I would add him because I live in the Parkland school district in Allentown, Pa.
Also have 2 girls that graduated from there.
He is one of the top PG in Pa, and averaged 23 pts last season, 1st Team All-State 6A Pa.
Also had offers from the Bonnies, St. Joe's, Richmond, Fordham, etc.

He has nice size at the wing and is very skilled.
He is a '25 and his recruiting will heat up.

I personally will never hate UConn as long as Hurley is their coach.PeterRamTime wrote: ↑7 months agoI know we hate UConn around here, but it's really hard to be happy about Duke getting ANOTHER number one player in the country.

Yeah if I were to choose a blue blood to like it's definitely UConn. Today is the first day for recruits to sign their NLI (National Letter of Intent).
Hopefully we can officially welcome Hammond and Farrell.

So, 2 players have to leave to fit Ben and Tyonne next year. I'm guessing Rory will be one. I have no idea who the other will be. Hopefully Jaden House doesn't decide to move up for a grad year. Would love to see him here for 2 years.

Then 2 players won't be on scholarship.
I guess you can get around that by them being compensated in the NIL.
That won't happen though because some players will be gone.

Not sure he regressed moreso the pool of talent around him (vs last year) is markedly improved.KevanBoyles wrote: ↑7 months ago Rory looks like he has regressed based on last night's performance. Looked lost and I'm a Rory fan.
Rory’s issues are he’s slow afoot and not particularly strong. If he had 1 of those 2 attributes at least in A10 play he could be a valuable role piece. But a 4 man that is slow and can’t rebound effectively is going to be hard pressed to find playing time on a good team; barring injuries or foul trouble.

And yet he started the last 3 games of his freshman year. The starting line up at the Barclay Center vs LaSalle was Stewart, Martin as "bigs" and Carey, Leggett, Thomas.bigappleram wrote: ↑7 months agoNot sure he regressed moreso the pool of talent around him (vs last year) is markedly improved.KevanBoyles wrote: ↑7 months ago Rory looks like he has regressed based on last night's performance. So as much criticism as Stewart, Thomas and sometimes Martin reaped imagine they beat out Samb, Trickou and Weston in Archie Miller's eyes. Some were very high on Samb, Trickou and Weston and especially Trickou. I mentioned last year a common comment I heard was how weak our big men were and the talk was mostly about Samb and Trickou. Stewart basically got recruited over, and stayed on.
At any rate, whole new roster
We should stop comparing to last year's team and look at what we need to get back to Tier 1. Getting players the caliber of what Hurley had in his 8 man rotation his last 2 years.

Re: General High School Recruiting Discussion/Comments 2023-24
Based on the incoming class, the 2 guys who are being recruited over are Luis and Ways. Ben might not start immediately, but it won't be long. By mid-season, he'll be playing major minutes, IN MY OPINION (that's for Rhody 15). I know it'll take a little while for a freshman PG, but this kid is special. Somebody is going to lose a lot of minutes to Ben.KingstonLane wrote: ↑7 months agoThey will. Why would they want to stay?

Luis and House are technically seniors academically. Either of them could choose to look to play professionally or grad transfer.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑7 months agoBased on the incoming class, the 2 guys who are being recruited over are Luis and Ways. If we have a team capable of making the tourney and House is poised to be the focal point there would be very compelling reasons for him to stay vs testing the waters elsewhere for 1 year. Especially if we have a NIL package for him which I assume we do.

Yeah I think the odds he stays on a tournament level team are pretty high. Some people act like it's a foregone conlusion that any great mid major player will transfer.bigappleram wrote: ↑7 months ago If we have a team capable of making the tourney and House is poised to be the focal point there would be very compelling reasons for him to stay vs testing the waters elsewhere for 1 year. Unless he doesn't like Archie or his teammates I don't think he leaves. A tournament level Rhody competes at a high enough level where guys are more likely to stay than somewhere like Fairfield.

Yup, Hammond should be ahead of Ways right away. Unless Ways really improves. Re: General High School Recruiting Discussion/Comments 2023-24
It's not a knock on Ways; it's more about how good Hammond is. He's arguably Archie's best recruit and should quickly become our starting point guard. Ways is a great leader, excels on the fast break, and is a strong playmaker. However, Hammond is a better playmaker, scorer, and defender. He's arguably the best floor general in the 2024 class. No, I'm not saying he's the best point guard in his class; I'm specifically referring to him being a floor general. It's going to be challenging for Archie to keep him off the floor.PeterRamTime wrote: ↑7 months agoI ain't sleeping on Always. Dude just started playing basketball full time last year. Since Ways will be a junior by the time Hammond arrives, it makes sense for Ways to start initially. However, I believe Hammond will eventually take over the starting role. Nevertheless, for now, I'll focus on this year. Who knows what the roster will look like next year
