“We hope to be in it by next summer,” Bjorn said. “That’ll be a total renovation of West Gym, it’ll be a men’s and women’s basketball only practice facility. All four buildings are connected and so coming out of the locker room for the men’s and women’s program is an easy walk right here, so it’s the access which is important.”

There’s a swimming locker room,
and it’s a 75-yard walk to the RC.
They’ll figure it out.
In retrospect, I now think we should spend $15M more for a deluxe hoops locker room in Tootell.
Because, you know, every team needs a locker room closer than 75 yards to its practice court.
And let’s delay the project for 3 more years.

How about a people-mover or monorail between the locker rooms and practice court? Is there a well-vetted master plan for athletic facilities? Leadership is lacking.

Maybe a 5 minute break to catch his/her breath would have made sense before sending out update. Seems like more formal updates would make sense to leverage the importance of the project. I saw lots of activity in the hallway earlier this week and I've seen the mannequins but thought otherwise on showing the manikins on KB unclothed and lo and behold the mannequins get filmed and negative commentary on KB. Oh well. Get the marketing department doing its job and leverage projects such as this. Like any updates at all but they are not very frequent and when they happen it's more like this one.

The mannequins have been in the hallway most of the summer, awaiting completion of the 2 displays cabinets. I'm assuming they will be clothed in men's and women's athletic attire. There was a reason I kept from showing them in update pictures.

Tammi does her own marketing and is tremendous generating excitement and anticipation in the WBB program.
You can call it complaining but I travel a lot and come into TF Green Airport and see big wall size advertisements for Providence College in the Baggage Claim area and also by Gates 16/18 there is. Big wall advertisement for Bryant University.
URI none. Just sad that we can't put something on a wall at the State Airport to promote the State University yet 2 private institutions see the benefit in such.
But there is a nice series of pictures on the wall headed to Baggage claim for the Matunuck Oyster Bar that is very well done.
Out players, coaches, potential recruits, opposing teams come through the airport and see PC and Bryant year after year and no URI. Little things add up.

Like seriously, roadside billboards and airport advertising is literally the worst advertising you can do. You're talking about two areas where people are in a hurry and not paying attention to ads and assuming they're moving slow enough to notice ads they're being inconvenienced and are in a foul mood. If you're in a foul mood you're not engaging with the ad in a positive state, so it's not sticking with you in a positive manner. If I'm sitting in traffic on 95 north and just got cut off I'm not interested in anything being thrown in my face at that moment.
Again, those types of ads are highly visible but terrible investments. Personally I'm glad our competitors are wasting their money on those ads and I'm happy we're not burning what marketing budget we do have on them

ETA...there are 'some' refreshing commercials... Liberty Mutual does a great job. Limu Emu and "young people, having a good time with insurance" - quite refreshing.

Re: Practice Facility
I generally agree with this but if you have the luxury of having the budget to do a saturation-style campaign where the direct impact of any single given component of it is not the point, it isn’t necessarily a waste. If you can afford to just inundate people with exposure, I think the indirect benefits of that are probably worthwhile. I doubt anyone is going to get off the plane and see a Friartown ad and stop what they’re doing to call and buy season tickets. But contributing to the subconscious perception that this is, in fact, Friartown probably does have benefits in the big picture.RhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑10 months ago Like seriously, roadside billboards and airport advertising is literally the worst advertising you can do. Ah yes don’t advertise in airports bc ppl are in foul moods there and it doesn’t work. Advertising is subconscious. No people don’t see a billboard and immediately ring up admissions or the ticket office. That’s not generally how marketing works. It’s reach X frequency. Reach equals total eyeballs exposed to a message and frequency is how often. It all adds up. If you don’t think the high exposure billboard in PVD, takeovers in the airport and other points of entry doesn’t further PCs brand and perception I don’t know what to tell you.

Re: Practice Facility
There is direct response marketing and there is brand building. Billboard or out of home isn’t designed to be direct response. Digital and other platforms are better vehicles for that. But you don’t build a brand solely by running ads to sell something (ticket packages etc). Each has its place in the marketing mix.
