Roster is flawed, but in contention to make the tourney just after the quarter pole...
Kluber is a mess, has he lost it? (Had he lost it before he got here?) ....
Why you can't ever say you have too much pitching. Thankfully, just a one year deal.
A week ago, they supposedly had 6 starters....now two of them suck. And suck bad.
I wouldn't want to pitch either one of those guys at all now....What're ya gonna do?
Last year was one of his worst years in the majors, only his first two abbreviated seasons at 25 and 26, and 2019 were worse. When a 36 year old pitcher is trending downward it's dumb to count on them, even if you're only signing them for one year.
More Dan Duquette style injury and old player dumpster diving from Chaim Bloom
Take down the Robert Carothers banner and fix the concession stand lines
OK...now that the funk from the C's and B's epic fizzles has worn off (mostly).... a lonely Red Sox Nation turns its eyes to see:
- Tied with 2 other teams at 4 games out of a wild card slot
- Chris Sale....MRI-bound (I know...inevitable)
- Lost 7 out of last 10 (only the A's have been worse)
- 10 games out of first place on June 1 (the Rays have been ridic, but even still...)
- 6 games behind the Orioles
- Only 5 AL teams have fewer wins
- Starting pitching ERA has to be over 5... (tltc)
- Overall ERA is worse than all but 5 MLB teams
- Pitching has given up the 3rd most jacks in all of baseball
But....pitching is like defense (boring) and offense wins eyeballs and optimism, so...
- Only the Rangers and Rays have scored more runs
- Only the Rockies have more doubles
- Going yard more than once a game, which isn't 'turrble' (but never enuff w/this stat, casual fan eyeballs need the longball)
- Walks (boring like pitching, but I guess the bases help) 20th in baseball...not good
- Only Cleveland and Toronto (meh teams, both) have whiffed fewer times...so, relatively meaningless, but good to see, I guess. I would take a few more whiffs if it meant a significant move up in the gomer rankings though)
- Esteury Ruiz, a nohehoh unless you're in a fantasy league, that plays on the worst team in baseball has 28 SB. Sox have 31
- 4th best BA in baseball, 3rd best OBP
This all sets up perfectly for the Sox to lose 4 games in 3 days this weekend, and start next week 14 games out of first place. On the bright side, the weather looks to be crappy enough that maybe at least one will be scratched? Yet, somehow manage to win this series though and we're right back in it, baby!
ETA:
- what's up with these game times creeping back into the 3 hour range again?
- raise your hand if you've seen enough of Dave Bush
If they had approached Corey Kluber's agent and said, "we'll give you an additional $5 million, if Corey could just suck more than he already does"...the agent would have to say, "sorry, not possible"....wouldn't he?
b-bye Messrs. Bass and Dermody, we hardly knew ya. You cannot have been so silly as to think you could post your personal feelings in public without vetting them first. Tusk tusk tusk....

Yanks and Twins at the moment are cupcakes due to injuries.
I’ll be sucked back in when they do the same to Rays and O’s…
Too late here...already sucked back in... just two games out of the wild card....
Besides, it's summertime and as far as TV goes..."I got no place to go..."

Potentially a much better player than Steve Lyons.. hopefully it's clicked with him. Time will tell..
I think, already a much better player. But, I once saw Psycho end a game, down a run in the ninth, getting thrown out trying to steal third with Wade Boggs at the plate... I just have to shake that though....Duran's turning out to be pretty good

You guys like Jarren Duran ??
Love him Reef. Sox called him up on April 17 and had him batting 9th in his first game. Now he leads the team in Batting Average, Doubles and easily leads in stolen bases with 17.
His doubles place him 2nd and steals 10th in the American League despite not being called up til April 17.
If Duran had enough At-Bats/Games played to qualify he would be 2nd in AL in Batting Average.
Go back to page 31 and read what we were saying about him a year ago when they called him up. I copied a couple of our comments from a year ago and pasted below. Sox have been slow on a number of your players the past couple years to bring guys up from minors. Glad Duran has finally gotten his chance.

Another win today for our guys that’s 31-12 in our last 43
I really like Duran reminds me of a young Jacoby Ellsbury had 4 hits and 2 stolen bags today
6 straight wins
Sox now leader in the Wild Card Race
Love Duran. Sox were slow to bring him up but kid is owning the lead off spot. Gives Sox first 4 hitters all over .300. Refsnyder also hitting great

Red Sox are still a last place team and 2.5 out of final wild card. Don’t let Chaim move the goalposts.
Very interested to see what Sox do at deadline considering Chaim has consistently lost trades during his tenure with Red Sox and is desperate to save his own job.

Red Sox out of the cellar !!
Sox have won 11 of last 13!
Yankees now in last place
Only 5 teams have a better record than Boston in the AL and 3 of them are in the Eastern Division.
2 more at hapless Oakland then 3 at home vs NY Mets (the most expensive team in baseball history) and then 2 at home with MLB best record Atlanta (61-31)
Story, and then Whitlock and Sale until they get hurt again.... Trade everyone except Devers, Duran, Bello...even if you only get the big guy for a month. Trade Dave O'Brien (but not Bill Burr) ... whatever it takes
A Judge - He ran the bases Wednesday and said the biggest hurdle for his return is more mental than physical.
If I'm a Yankees fan, I'm thinking..."swing the bat, then take whatever time you need to get around. Do not stress the toe, or otherwise cause it any anxiety...just swing the bat." But...I'm not a yankee fan, so, I hope, for his sake, he takes his time to get 100% over every single hurdle he may have before getting back out there...and if it doesn't happen this year...so be it.
Both Boston and New York are just treading water. Do either of them have a 15-5 run in them?
