I’m sure the P5s are making it rain for a 7ppg guy from Conf USA.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑1 year agoOr he has a better offer.PeterRamTime wrote: ↑1 year ago Well this is interesting!

My best guess is the staff held off his commitment.

For the record, Malik shots 33% percent last year .steveystuds06 wrote: ↑1 year agoYa I don’t see how they would bring him on if he’s not eligible. I would much prefer Dalger and curious when Green entered the portal and if he finished the season still on the team.
Also a good chance that he won't be available next season is concerning.
I guess after missing out on some other targets and especially Pride and Buru recently, this seems a little bit of a let down.

There are still quite a few impact player available that would fit our needs.
I am sure the staff is working hard to fill those open spots, but currently just not public knowledge.

I’m fine with this pickup. Another good 3 pt shooter and averaged 7 PPG with 16 MPG in 2021/22.

Maybe Archie fools all of us and takes Dalger as well since it’s not a guarantee that green will get a waiver, I’m just so confused this a let down and a red flag nice shooter

Bonnie’s have Yann Farrell and Billikens have Terrance Hargrove their starting 4s and Dalger is considering them I don’t know where Dalger is going that he’ll get more minutes than them

Do you think the delay with Green was because of Dalger’s decision?

Re: 20’ FL F David Green (LA Tech —> ???) (Official Visit)
Yes a similar % but I think he’s more of a shooter than Malik. Malik only took 2.6 3pt shots a game while playing a lot of more minutes (31MPG)…This kid averaged 3.1 attempts in only 16MPG. Green attempted 107 3s the previous season. Malik only attempted 82.McRam wrote: ↑1 year agoMy point was they are essentially the same three point shooters for percentage. I’m not super excited about this get. but it’ll be nice to have another shooter on the roster. Let’s hope he can make a jump next year.

Tough call on this one. Going to be a "wait and see" for me, but I guess I've said that about pretty much every recruit so far.

Re: 20’ FL F David Green (LA Tech —> Rhode Island)
Green is a solid addition. I like that he can shoot the 3 and has good athleticism.
However, I’ll admit that I was starting to get psyched for a possible Dalger signing today. But, maybe we will still land Dalger due to the waiver question hanging over Green.
Welcome to the Rhody family, DG! Get to work and us proud.

Sorry gang. Off-season appears to be underwhelming. Hope I'm wrong. It's becoming extremely difficult to push that season ticket renewal button. It's a long ride to keep watching mediocrity. We'll try one more season. Let's see why we hired Archie.

Re: 20’ FL F David Green (LA Tech —> Rhode Island)
I don't know, still feeling pretty lukewarm about this addition.
Of all the 3/4's we had interest in, he was the one I was least excited about.
I have to trust the staff, and hopefully he surprises me.
He didn't exactly distinguish himself at basketball powerhouses Hofstra and La. Tech.
His overall stats were pretty mediocre and his most minutes average was about 16 mins.
Aside from that, there are still several question marks regarding him: waiver/availability, injury, and circumstances he left the team.
Usually I try to be pretty upbeat and optimistic about our new players, not so much here.
However he has shown flashes, has athleticism, and can stretch it, so maybe he just needs to be in the right situation.
Will be very curious to see how Archie uses the final scholarship, hopefully an exciting prospect or an immediate difference maker.
Maybe even someone from our list that we previously discussed.

In full spin zone mode over here
Every player we’ve been excited about lately has failed to live up to the hype
Now we get someone no one wants. Underpromise overdeliver!

Re: 20’ FL F David Green (LA Tech —> Rhode Island)
The key is to improve enough as to make us a more attractive landing spot for future recruits.
Let's hope the staff has done that with who they've brought in for the upcoming season.
As they say, Rome wasn't built in a day. Sure looks like that is the case here. Most of the transfers have 2 years eligibility left.
NCAA tourney next year? No. By year 3? Maybe.

According to my sources, the recruitment of Tim Dalger is not in play. Obviously when @dloading21_ David Green was brought in that filled that position. I think #gorhody will be pleasantly surprised and pleased with David’s commitment and career at Rhody Hoops.

Re: 20’ FL F David Green (LA Tech —> Rhode Island)
If Green can't get a waiver and play this year, then I'll really be confused by this move. With the way things are now I don't see much point in tying up a scholarship for a year on a guy who can't play unless it's a total difference maker. So I have to assume he'll be able to play this season.

With the timing of everything that happened in the last 24 hours or so, it sure seems like we took Green because we lost our recruiting battle of Dalger to SLU.

I think someone thought Archie Miller deserved a B+ or A- with the off-season moves. I think it is more of a C-. I hope I’m wrong, but guys like Green who have done very little over 3 years of playing just don’t cut it. We lost out on the top targets we went after. Will we be better than last year-yes. How can we be worse. I guess we will see as you never know in college basketball, but definitely not exciting.

How could it possibly be a C-? I hope last year's grade is lower then, because the transfers from Alabama and Seton Hall didn't do shit for us.RamStock wrote: ↑1 year ago I think someone thought Archie Miller deserved a B+ or A- with the off-season moves. A- would have been Dalger. Clearly Green was not the first choice here, hence the dramatics of the last 72 hours.
Some might try to argue that Montgomery was actually the first choice, and not Pride. It kind of suspends logic, but I guess I could take their word for it. But not this time. Clearly, they paused to see if Dalger was interested,

I definitely agree with an F for last year R15 and RamStock. I'd say let's wait and see what these new guys can do. Hard to judge when we haven't seen them play together yet.

Dalger picked SLU because they've been winning lately.
We won't lose those battles after we start winning.
Green is still a nice piece that we can win with. Good athlete, nice skillset and has potential to show more than he has thus far in his career.
We've had a strong transfer haul considering.

I don’t see us getting 1 year players in our current state.
