Re: '22 SF Buru Naivalurua (Garden City CC ---> ??? )
So they went back to Australia already? They would have to fly back again?
We are his only visit to date and no others scheduled?
Seems like they would announce today or tomorrow if he is coming to URI if no other visits are scheduled or planned soon.

I believe we will get him and I hope he makes an impact. He is 29th in the top 100 JUCO college transfers according to JUCO Recruiting.
The offer list is not over the top and after one season he can transfer again with out waiting a year Risk/Reward.
All about today!

What in the world could the reason be that he has not announced his decision? Especially, if he and his family went back to Australia.
Maybe he has a chance to play in some Pro league down under???

Don't know Ramster, but that is how it appears to me, unless some other visits are immediately happening.ramster wrote: ↑1 year agoSo they went back to Australia already? They would have to fly back again?

If Buru comes to Rhody he is probably looking at 25+ minutes a night. If he plays well we could actually have a good team. We have players who should at least be average at all the other spots and Rory Stewart should be a decent back up. I hope this plan is coming together and we hear from him soon.

I wouldn't read anything into that. It's kind of like when the guy promoting the visit mistakenly said "Rhode Island College", I'm thinking.

If I had to guess, without knowing anything, they are impressed with the facilities and he was probably offered some sort of NIL package as well.

Ehhhh idk how someone can mix up professional and college. At the same time why would his sister post a montage of his visit to RI? I think he’s coming here.

Re: '22 SF Buru Naivalurua (Garden City CC ---> ??? )
I would think the Pro route is our biggest competition at this point. NZL and Australia have great professional hoops. That said, I'd imagine our ability to offer something in NIL will be similar to what he'd get going pro and could improve his marketability back home if he had a successful US College tour.

Is that the sticking point though?
The point I was making is how the heck could you possibly interpret that? Maybe you can. I guess the social media innuendo evades me.

His friend congratulated him on becoming a professional basketball player. How else can that be interpreted?

Re: '22 SF Buru Naivalurua (Garden City CC ---> ??? )
I guess what I am trying to say is, if it were you, or I, wouldn't WE make a statement, on social media I suppose, stating, after careful consideration, and after waiting years to make it to the States to play basketball, I've decided to return to my home (or Europe, or wherever) to play professional basketball overseas. In the end, the grass wasn't greener on the other side, after all. I didn't like X, Y, and or Z. I don't like 20 hours of plane flights to my destinations. I was expecting to play for Kansas or some other Big 12 school, year two. Miami doesn't compare to the Gold Coast. etc, etc, etc.
No, instead we have a retweet of a well wish by someone he knows, and that's it. Close up the thread, it's all over. Last one out, turn off the lights. No mention by Bill in the Projo of Buru opting out of Div 1 College ball. No mention by Archie. No mention by any recruiting gurus. All that is necessary, apparently, I don't know when this came to be, I guess right now, is a vague retweet.
Good times.

Coaches aren't allowed to publicly discuss recruits or potential players until they have signed.
I quit trying to interpret this stuff a while ago.
Until they get a commitment, I am sure the staff is working hard to fill the spots.

If it was just some random post from some guy, I wouldn't think much of it, but Buru reposted it. Why would he do that if there was nothing to it?

Old people on social media makes me laugh lol. It was originally from 2020. He simply just reposted it on his daily story. Prolly because he was recently reminded of it because the next step of his journey is coming up. The other dude that reposted it may have thought it was a new video like many of you did. Idk. He could just be calling him a pro basketball player because of the level he has gotten too or that a pro career is likely in his future.

What I meant to say this morning, and didn’t manage to get the point across I guess, but someone else ended up saying almost the same thing since then, is that I would gather that to these guys in Australia, the lines between college and pro basketball might seem quite “blurred”.
And especially now that we have the NIL, they are right, because they are much more blurred now that some of them are getting quite a bit of money
