Any updates on this?
Good question, 05. Hopefully, it is still on schedule as projects can get delayed at times for various reasons. I am sure someone here will see your question and get us all a quick update.

I can't imagine a remodeled Tootell West costing $8M. I smell a bait and switch. We'll see something else enhanced with money that has been freed up that has nothing to do with MBB.
Come on 72.
You brought this up earlier in the thread. It was $8m 2 years so why now are bringing up $7m 2 years later? 8m is the correct cost.
This was already discussed so maybe save effort and energy to reread the thread from beginning?
Project was designed and bid out.
Money is not being used for things other than the Practice Facility.
Stop questioning the money and showing distrust for the process unless you can prove/show otherwise. It’s unfair what you are doing and casting a cloud over what is an outstanding project, long talked about and will benefit both MBB and WBB for decades to come.
Here is another 7 page thread on the practice facility started 4 years ago with more info. Some good info showing how other programs spent well over $8m http://keaneyblue.com/viewtopic.php?t=7494

Because 72 is either a troll or rampant shitposter or, most likely, institutionalized individual who has way too much allotted computer time.
If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

Thanks for sharing these photos. The practice facility looks to be coming along nicely. It really is starting to come together and will be really nice looking.

You are welcome. This is the hallway view from both ends.
Decided to check the capital budget and it doesn't show any funds being spent on the facility after fiscal year 23, which indicates it's slated to be completed June 30th or sooner
Take down the Robert Carothers banner and fix the concession stand lines

Any new photos of the practice facility from march 2023 that shows more progress this month ? Does anyone know if there will be any treatment to the exterior of the building such as some type of signage or other changes to the exterior of that part of the building ? I would hope that they would dress up the outside of the building to really look like a brand new facility from the outside too . There haven't been any artist depictions of any planned
changes to the exterior that I'm aware of .
Is this to catch-up with competition or does this give URI an advantage over competition? To me it looks like a renovated old West Gym for the exclusive use of the basketball teams. I'm not impressed with what I'm seeing so far.
I think this is catch up situation, in the arms race of college hoops. The other emerging things in the arms race is obviously NIL and portal, maybe we are playing catc up there also. I think the importance of practice facility is over valued(G’Town as example)by players. Kids just wanna play, see court action to further careers. Some where else I said, the right coach and right players would play on blacktop parking lot with portable hoops.

R72 If they built a brand new facility instead: "I can't believe they wasted $47 million on a new facility instead of renovating Tootell! That money could have gone elsewhere!"
Bleed Keaney Blue!

Because those comments came from 72, you are quick to dismiss them. If they came from one of the beloved icons on this board, most would be in agreement. It will be a serviceable facility but very underwhelming.

You’re not wrong in that it’s underwhelming in a relative sense to many P6 facilities or top mid majors
That being said you need to work with what you’ve got. We were squeaking out every last dollar to just fund this facility. If we wanted a state of the art new building we’d be waiting another decade.
Check the box, have a practice court and facility that allows players 24x7 access.
It’s not the best thing ever, but it’s certainly better than the alternative of having nothing
I think one very important thing is that we'll still have access to the Ryan Center in most cases for practice, where a PC or Georgetown needs a top tier practice facility because they have far less access to their home venue
Take down the Robert Carothers banner and fix the concession stand lines

R72 has earned that negative reputation. Other posters have not. Based on the poster's trolling history, whatever URI does, even when they do something they should isn't good enough - and they might be right, but R72 100% would have gone the other way if they did spend a fortune on a state of the art facility instead of remodeling Tootell West. I'm pointing out the hypocrisy.
I have not seen the facility other than the pictures posted here and therefore can't comment well on the facility itself. Is it a good practice gym? Does it have good locker room? Is it close to the RC (yes). Does it have other things that we can sell on recruits?

some of you are insufferable. just miserable shits.
deeeeeeer, we need a practice facility, deeeeeeeer, so and so has one. deeeeeeeer, we're URI, bottom of the mid major, one bid A10, going we going places. deeeeeer.
then we get it and its, deeeeeeer, this isn't good enough. deeeeeeer, i dont like it, deeeeeer we need more.

A dedicated practice facility is just another item that is needed in today's arms race to compete in the NCAA. It will check another box off the list and help with some recruiting. The lack of such a facility can no longer be used as a big negative for other schools to use in recruiting. Will the facility be the best out there? Not by a long shot. It is a relatively low cost $8M carve out of existing space effort. It will not be on par with much more expensive stand alone facilities in the A-10 such as those found at VCU and UMass. It will likely only rate mid range in the conference (behind VCU, UMass, UD, SLU, LUC, UR). Rhody however has a better arena than some of these schools (VCU and LUC) and better fan support (UMass and LUC). In the end, this facility will just be another needed piece to help better level the playing field against team we want to compete with.

Catch-up. We ask for donations for mediocrity. No wonder it took so long to raise the money.
