I can't think of a better name if he ever donned the Keaney Blue.
Makes Joe Mbang seem basic.
Imagine standing up in school on the first day proclaiming Hi I'm always right.

Re: Always Wright
He shot 85% from the line and 43% from 3. I personally like this kid over Kortright and Robinson. My guess is he's still a backup plan but this kid has a knack for scoring the rock.

So, someone is going to transfer here to be a backup PG, also knowing that we have a frosh PG coming in?

Re: Always Wright
If they are a one year rental transfer they probably will. Wright looks like someone who can compete for playing time, not start. The numbers are promising, you can't teach a shooter how to shoot, he looks like he can get to the basket pretty good, but that competition he is going against in those videos is slloowww. That is definitely not A-10 game speed. So, even if they brought him in, there would most likely be a learning curve involved.
I'd still be all over the guy from Howard, or Noah, for this upcoming year.

Are there many teams that do not have 3 players who can at least play the position in a pinch?Billyboy78 wrote: ↑1 year agoSo, someone is going to transfer here to be a backup PG, also knowing that we have a frosh PG coming in?

Re: Always Wright
Yes, but an incoming freshman might expect to sit and learn. I don't think a transfer is. Transfers are, for the most part, looking for playing time, not sitting.DeanDome88 wrote: ↑1 year agoAre there many teams that do not have 3 players who can at least play the position in a pinch?Billyboy78 wrote: ↑1 year agoSo, someone is going to transfer here to be a backup PG, also knowing that we have a frosh PG coming in?

Re: Always Wright
Always Wright would be the freshman in that scenario.
Nevermind, I didn't realize he was a JUCO. The stuff I was looking at said 2023 G Always Wright. He's actually completing his first year of Junior College.
So what would that make him? A sophomore?

idk, he's a better prospect than the other JUCO and the kid from Quinnipiac, imo, but yet still a bit of an unknown.

Or if not a true PG, some kind of combo guard that can handle the ball well enough.Dino611 wrote: ↑1 year agoMy theory to a point, we have none of ours returning and only a freshman that we don’t know a lot about

Re: Always Wright
People were complaining that we were going after guards that couldn't hit free throws or hit a 3. At the very least this kid can do that. We shall see what happens.

Maybe just "pointing out" that they couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at the charity stripe, yeah. 53%? Re: Always Wright
Competition in that video is high school. So that is a year old.
Nothing to really form an opinion here.
Count me out on a combo guard playing PG. I’ve seen that show before. We need a true facilitator and playmaker at PG.

Re: Always Wright
Yeah, I learned that lesson Harrick's second year, when it was just P.Murph and he was gimpy after a few games and no one else. He was a great 6th man combo guard backing up Tyson and Cat, but not as a starting PG. Granted, that was an extreme example. He was the only guard available for the first half of the season, until someone else came on board academically. But, you know, "underachievers" according to some.

Re: Always Wright
backup plan?
we keep hearing their involvement in players that are essentially backup plans. Apparently they feel we need one.
it's kind of surprising if Archie goes into the season with all this notice, and all these expectations, and all these opportunities available and without a top tier PG however.

Re: Always Wright
idk, I just watched that video Steveystuds posted three weeks ago, which were of his JUCO team NEO.
He's good on offense, but matador defense. Kind of surprised Archie would be interested with his emphasis on defense. You're going to have to play D to get minutes, so his minutes might be sparse.
They have him playing down low in a pack line. I would have rather have a chance to see him guard other guards on the perimeter, like he would have to in this league. Down low, they always seemed to score on him. He threw at least one bad pass behind him that got picked off for a fast break for the other team.
It was only one game, but he didn't have that dynamic point guard look to him. He reminded more of just a shooter. he could hit some shots, I'll give him that. I think he could fit as a shooting option, I'm not sure he's the answer for point guard. He did distribute the ball on a completely stacked team, in the sense that, once the ball left his hands it wasn't coming back to him, so he can follow orders, that's good. It wasn't because of an exceptional ability to pass or anything like that.

Seems like a back up plan to me. This kid would commit here if he was offered. He retweets everything URI.

Re: Always Wright
My thoughts exactly. Tough Shot maker. Clearly a bucket getter…Defense isn’t there. But he did average 6 ast a gamesjcru wrote: ↑1 year ago idk, I just watched that video Steveystuds posted three weeks ago, which were of his JUCO team NEO.
