I really dislike the WBB teams have a 10 day lay-off before NCAA/NIT games begin. Extend the season a week!

According to an email I received from the athletic department, the bracket should be announced at 2 and if we're scheduled to host a game tickets will go on sale about an hour later

Re: 2023 Women's NIT
It's bad planning and absurd to have to face a conference opponent in the second round. Ideally with 4 conference teams in the field, none should face each other before the final 4. Now, I do understand that could also depend on their seeding so I'll cut some slack for the final 8, but the 2nd round shouldn't happen.
Edit: Looking at the bracket:
https://womensnit.com/tournaments/brack ... n-WNIT/104
I'll retract this as it seems location based. Western teams on one side and eastern on the other. That makes it so the 4 A10 teams are all on one side of the bracket which makes more sense now.

Re: 2023 Women's NIT
It's all region-based... the WNIT has no direct affiliation with the NCAA so there's not a lot (if any) funding there. Teams have to pay their own way so it's structured as such to cut down on travel costs.

Seton Hall eliminated St Josephs
Syracuse beat Kent St
Fordham beat Drexel
Columbia still has to play Fairleigh Dickinson.
The winner of the previous post will face the winner of this group, and take the entire Group 2.

It should be at the Ryan. I know the NIT likes to place the game where it will get the most seat sales, but these two teams are in the same Conference and one was clearly better than the other.

Let's keep the NIT in perspective. This is an exhibition tournament among teams not good enough to make the NCAAT. We are getting better but we are not good enough yet. Making the NIT has never been a goal. Never be satisfied with making the NIT.

What was impressive this year was that this was a re-building year in which we were competitive to tie for the conference because of our depth. "A good stepping stone" is a euphemism for not quite being good enough.steviep123 wrote: ↑1 year ago

Are you sure? Since the NCAA started running the NIT a decade ago, it hasn’t been run that way. It used to be that way back in the Baron years, where our sparkling new Ryan Center got us some great home games.

Milan, that might hold for the Men's side, but the women's NIT is a different animal, I think. They still take it very seriously and the top finishers are traditionally primed to make it to the NCAA the following year, like it used to be back in the day.

NIT might not be the goal, but it's not the booby prize (no pun intended) in the women's division that it tends to be in the men's.
These college ladies are ultra competitive and they just want to win, period. There is no shame with them, they play to win.

Tammi took over a program that hadn't made a postseason tournament since 1996 and has led the team to postseason tournaments two years in a row, won the most postseason games in the history of the program and set new records for wins in consecutive years. I finally figured out Rhody72 refers to your IQ because you are an absolute certifiable idiot - not to mention an execrable excuse of a human being.Rhody72 wrote: ↑1 year agoNo. Great for a re-building year. As do you. I root for URI to win every game and do better than any point spreads regardless of whether the game counts for anything or not. This board voted to take my tag line as its name: NCAAs or Bust. This had been my tag line on prior Iboards.I I rail at posts that suggest satisfaction with anything less. While I have been a long suffering fan (since the days of Dayna Smith for WBB), I'll go to my grave striving for this ultimate goal. Along the way, I'll savor every win, suffer with every loss and never be satisfied with lower goals.steviep123 wrote: ↑1 year ago

Re: 2023 Women's NIT
For the 100th time, I wanted to extend the contract and end the buy-out while we lined up a replacement, If DC would not accept, he should have been fired. He wasn't the guy and we needed to make lemonade with a lemon. This is why Archie had no young players and we were awful this year. I was opposed to the original DC hiring because he wasn't ready. Shades of JD's hiring.steviep123 wrote: ↑1 year ago

Not extending the buy-out was always my intention. It's a fact that Thorr extended DC's contract and the buy-out which URI had to buy-out when he fired him a year later. Why not fire DC mid-season and hire Archie then when he could salvage players from the roster?RhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑1 year ago
