Assuming Fordham finishes third, a tiebreaker favors UMass as they're 2-0 against Fordham and the best URI can do is 1-0. Just win tomorrow and none of it matters.RhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑1 year ago 2. Conference record of the tied teams based on winning percentage versus the highest

Re: 2022-2023 Women's Basketball Season
Wow, didn't see this coming.
Never expected to lose by 21 pts at home in a game which we really were never in.
Also out rebounded 51-29, not good.
I figured this would be a tough game that would come down to the wire.
Anyway, we need to turn this around quickly because we have 2 tough road games coming up.

UMASS was strong rebounding and had excellent interior passing resulting in easy shots. Many high percentage shots throughout the game for UMASS but especially in the 1st quarter.Jersey77 wrote: ↑1 year ago Wow, didn't see this coming.

I mean, an at large bid was always going to be tough with where we were, but that drop wasn't as bad as I thought it could be. I would have to think we're still in NIT range

I expect Tammi to make the proper defensive adjustments going forward.

Re: 2022-2023 Women's Basketball Season
Last season similar scenario. Big game at home with Dayton, lost by 10. Tammy said the team was devastated by the loss as their goal was to win the A10 Conference and the A10 Tournament. They went on to get upset by a freshmen laden St Joe team 1st game of A10 Tournament and then they got upset again at home to Quinnipiac in the Ryan Center in the NITJersey77 wrote: ↑1 year agoLosses like this can be a good learning tool and bring us back down to earth.ramster wrote: ↑1 year agoUMASS was strong rebounding and had excellent interior passing resulting in easy shots. This year Tammi said she wants the team to have fun. They put too much pressure on themselves last year.
Will be interesting to see how the remaining games play out.

Re: 2022-2023 Women's Basketball Season
Last year we averaged 1120 at home, this year it's up to 1395 with one home game left. For comparison, UMass is averaging 1209 per game this season.
Even if they listed an attendance of 0 for the last home game, which isn't possible, we'd have an average attendance this year of 1295. Can't complain about at attendance boost of 15+%, hopefully it keeps up next year

Re: 2022-2023 Women's Basketball Season
Next game will be a tough road test tomorrow at St. Joe's.
They won their last 3 in a row since losing to us in 2OT 77-73 at the RC.
Hopefully we can regroup since our ugly to UMass.
I will be there to help root us on.
Again they are led by:
(F) Brugler- A10 ROY 2022, averaging 16.5 pts/ 5 rebs.
(G) Smith - All A10 Rookie Team 2022, averaging 14 pts/ 4 rebs.
(F) Ziegler - A freshman big averaging 11 pts/ almost 9 rebs.
(G) Mullins- Averaging 9 pts.

This will be a very tough game. I hate to say it, but even withstanding the UMASS loss I don't think we win this one. They are strong rebounding and a strong inside offensive game. Great that you can get to see this one live. Great game to attend.

The Hagan arena is a nice little venue to see the game.

Brugler at 16.5 ppg and Smith at 13.9 ppg are sophomores and Ziegler at 11.4 ppg and 8.7 rebounds is a freshman. That's a helluva nucleus.

8 points in first quarter. Down 10 points. Yet another last possession play blows up. This is a disturbing pattern last few games. Need to get back to basics.

Re: 2022-2023 Women's Basketball Season
I feel like sometimes they just need to slow the game down. Instead of trying to force the other team to make mistakes, just hunker down on Defense, and let the other team make their own mistakes, that will inevitably come.
I feel like they could have done this against UMass as well, albeit, not as dramatically as they came back in this second quarter against St. Joes.

Re: 2022-2023 Women's Basketball Season
Another key to that second quarter is, Toure seems to be in a funk since UMass. She was going up way too strong with the ball, had something like 5-6 bricks from 2-3 feet out. They pulled her twice in the second quarter and she seems to have settled down a bit. They really need her inside scoring.
Sorry, meant Toure.
