Total speculation. The “J “ term starts Jan2. The regular spring semester starts Jan 20. Maybe that is when he officially becomes a student??
That kind of would make sense, since this seems to be a transcript and eligibility issue ultimately, vs. an old school mid-year transfer. I was racking my brain, trying to think of the last time URI had a player join midseason. Was it Scott Hazelton? If so, it's ancient history, but his first game was the 10th regular season one of the year, on Dec. 21, 2003. However, he was more of an old school, traditional transfer, and any snafu with grades or eligibility had 6+ months to be worked out.
If Harris needs to be "cleared" by the NCAA, URI or whatever JC / community college he was at this past semester, then Jan. 20 is probably as good a "deadline" date as any. URI would still have 12 games, plus the A-10 tournament, which is enough to make it worth the effort.
Didn’t Kuran join mid season and sit out the rest of that year, and the following years first semester?

I didn’t look it up, just came to mind.
Sure - I think that happened with him, Stan Robinson, a couple others. What I mean is a transfer that didn't start playing games until second semester of a year, which Harris would be doing here. Scott Hazelton might have been the last one for URI.

Walker’s first year here he started playing second semester.
First game was against Western Kentucky on 12-21-19.

Ah, thanks! I -knew- there had to be another one, haha.
I guess you weren't around for Jared Terrell before he was seen in uniform.
Nope, but how about for someone that's never played? A good test for those with memories of the obscure..."the player with the most pages that never ever played a minute here." I mean, it's still open that Ant might play here, but he has to be the LITC, no?
Naheem McLeaod 22, Anthony Walker 19, Brendan Adams 17, Rokas Gustys 17, Dahmir Bishop 16, Elijah Wood 16.

Up to 14 pages
Too much sunk cost.
Now that we’ve gone this far, may as well keep it going.
He stayed for a bit then decided, like many Rhode Islanders, to spend the rest of the winter in Florida. He’s expected back in March to play in the A10 Tourney.

While he’s there he might as well take in spring break!

No posts for several hours in here. I felt compelled to resuscitate the thread.
Ant update!
Sources told me they saw Ant in Rhody gear on Miami Beach this afternoon with a lap top taking a “j” semester class. He said he’s still planning on heading up to Rhody in March in time for the A10 Tourney.
Said he’s been running the beach, working on his jump shot and watching 3 point shooting videos produced by 72 to improve his shooting form to get ready.

72 is a free throw shooting expert. He's the one who taught Jimmy Baron.

This situation is such a headache. Can we get a real update??
This from Bill Koch a couple of days ago.
"To paraphrase Archie Miller from his introductory press conference, Anthony Harris will be here when he's here.
It's still a paperwork/compliance/transcript issue. Not always a defined timeline resolving those."

We'll probably have real clarity sometime toward the end of next week, maybe the media session before George Mason. Would have to think all paperwork will have been evaluated by that time and fall classes start the 23rd
Take down the Robert Carothers banner and fix the concession stand lines

Got it
Archie didn't say that he 'will be here when he is here'. Bill Koch used it as a paraphrase to answer the question about Ant.

I know, read it that way. He paraphrased what he heard.
