Re: 2022-23 Men's Games of Interest
If anyone is watching the UVA vs. Houston game, pay attention to UVA’s pack line defense. This is how it’s done. I think Archie plays a different version and I don’t know the difference. I like to watch how they pack the line and stop the penetration.

Re: 2022-23 Men's Games of Interest
If UVA holds their opponent to a point a minute for at least 3/4 of the game, the are virtually unbeatable.

I’ll go out on a limb here and say our defense will never be on the level as Virginia’s.KevanBoyles wrote: ↑1 year ago If anyone is watching the UVA vs. Houston game, pay attention to UVA’s pack line defense. Never is along time, give Archie some years here, getting layers to learn and execute it and we’ll Be in business.

It took years for UVA to play the defense well.

Agree. I watched it. What was Grasso doing playing zone in the 2nd half with Liberty's shooters?
Edert has regressed from his days at St Peter's last year
Defense leaves a lot to be desired with Bryant
The Local Media darling didn't come through today at Springdale

A good spot win, as some say, Jersey. They caught SH in a good (for the team from Prov) spot. Not good for SH being under-manned.
It’s good to be lucky.

Re: 2022-23 Men's Games of Interest
Maybe. Cooley’s going to need to use his bench more than he did today, though, or the starters will wear down. I also need to see how they perform when Hopkins is on the bench for a prolonged period.

I agree Reef, Cooley did a nice job of reloading this roster, Hopkins is a stud.

Hopkins is the best player of the Cooley era. And he’s had some good ones. He’s one and done. NBA ready.

Re: 2022-23 Men's Games of Interest
Good win by Duquesne over a decent Indiana State team 92-86.
Duquesne still with a depleted roster, in addition to still missing a couple of bigs, starting guard Tevin Brewer was out with a shoulder injury.

UMass looked really bad in second half in loss to North Texas, 62-44.

UMess seems to be slumping after a pretty good start to the season.

VCU up 26 on N. ILL.
St Louis could use a win against 8-2 Drake tonight. Dayton could use a win tonight against Wyoming, too.

The Martin stare must have burned holes in his players uniforms today during that game.

Re: 2022-23 Men's Games of Interest
I think that’s where they are talentwise but really need to start stacking wins. They’ve lost to every decent team they’ve played until today. The BE is a bit down this year which makes it more challenging for a team that accomplished nothing in the non-conference slate.

Re: 2022-23 Men's Games of Interest
As evidence of UMass shooting futility, with 8 minutes left in game Matt Cross put in a jumper to bring UMass to within 5 at 45-40, From there the Minutemen were outscored 17-4!

Dunn was an incredible athlete but had a flaw in his game - not a great shooter - Hopkins has no flaws and has an NBA body.Rhody15 wrote: ↑1 year agoEhhh Dunn was incredible.bigappleram wrote: ↑1 year ago Hopkins is the best player of the Cooley era. You made some big statements there BAR. I don’t think he’s there yet, but there’s a lot of growing he can do in the next couple of months. Should be fun to watch.bigappleram wrote: ↑1 year agoDunn was an incredible athlete but had a flaw in his game - not a great shooter - Hopkins has no flaws and has an NBA body.Rhody15 wrote: ↑1 year agoEhhh Dunn was incredible.bigappleram wrote: ↑1 year ago Hopkins is the best player of the Cooley era. Re: 2022-23 Men's Games of Interest
Davidson with 8 attempts from the line compared to 31 for Purdue. Now, that is some home cooking in Indiana or a lot of Davidson clutching and grabbing.
The game finished with 11 (6-11) attempts to 37 (28-37) attempts from the line. Davidson called for 21 fouls to 11 for Purdue.
Davidson actually outshot Purdue from the floor 24-61 to 19-58 including from 3 ( 7-25 to 3-25 ).
Solid effort by Davidson hanging with #1 Purdue away from home. They just couldn’t catch the whale.

Re: 2022-23 Men's Games of Interest
Please stop with this nonsense. Purdue hammers the ball inside to Edey or tries to on every possession. Davidson actually triple-teamed him on a few possessions with little Foster Loyer draped on his arm. Edey is 7'4"...the only way to stop the guy is foul him or pray that his misses from 4 feet away.Jdrums#3 wrote: ↑1 year ago Davidson with 8 attempts from the line compared to 31 for Purdue. UCLA is my national champion pick this year. They got off to a little bit of a rocky start but I think they are really really good.

I think you are jumping to conclusions, PMMM, and only picking out one part of what I said above.PlayMikeMotenMore wrote: ↑1 year agoPlease stop with this nonsense. If you reread my post above, I said, now that is some home cooking in Indiana OR a lot of Davidson clutching and grabbing. Since I didn’t watch the game and only read the game stats, I could not say it was one reason or the other.
No nonsense here. You just misinterpreted or didn’t fully read my post.
I take it you watched the game and I appreciate your insight that it was Davidson clutching and grabbing that caused the fouls discrepancy.

Who was it last year who called the Friars the luckiest team in the country? They are still at it as Seton Hall's starting center did not play at all yesterday and Croswell had a field day against their second stringer.

What are you even talking about? The only guy who didn’t play for SHU yesterday was Femi, who averages 5 points and 20 mpg. Their center is Tyrese Samuel.

Re: 2022-23 Men's Games of Interest
Actually Friar, Seton Hall has also been without starting PF Alexis Yetna, their 2nd leading scorer returning from 21-22.
They were hoping he would be back for conference play.
