The promotion works well budget wise. The way things are going, one batch of shirts might last all season.BCRhody03 wrote: ↑1 year ago Wasn't able to make the Texas State game so looking to see some improvement from whoever ends up seeing the floor tonight.
Just heard them announce a "Tee's for 3's" promotion, where they're supposed to throw shirts in the crowd after URI makes 3 point shots. They might want to re think that strategy if fan engagement is the goal.
Hopefully tonight changes that trend. I'll predict its Rory based off pre game warm-ups.

We are shooting well so far: 52% from the field, 3-3 from the line, 25% from 3 (which is good for us so far this yr.).
Keep it going!

Yea, I saw the 18% after I sent the message. ESPN doesn’t update too fast. Same with the turnover’s; we had 4 when I typed, then we had 8. My posting might be causing bad ju ju.
9 assists on 14 made baskets.

They are zoning us which is a smart thing to do with our 4 point shooting
Our ball movement is pretty good we need to get Rory some 3 point attempts!!

We need shooters bad. Thomas is one of the worst shooting guards I've ever seen start at URI. Wide open looks. 30% FGP and 0% on 3P% . 0-7 on threes so far this season.
Guess it can only improve.....

Not sure what your point is anyways. I love a lot of what Archie has this team doing. Ball movement is amazing. We just don’t have shooters on the roster. Is what it is

Thomas could be such a great player if he was even a below average shooter.

Thomas has to focus on facilitating. He’s great at pushing the offense. However, teams leave him open since he hasn’t proven he can hit from long range. Archie needs to curtail the shooting.

It makes it tough to run an offense when the other team can leave your guard wide open and know he can’t shoot.SandorClegane wrote: ↑1 year ago Thomas has to focus on facilitating. True.. it’s not a good thing, but you can still make an impact and be a crappy shooter. Won’t be the first we’ve seen in keaney blue.KingstonLane wrote: ↑1 year agoIt makes it tough to run an offense when the other team can leave your guard wide open and know he can’t shoot.SandorClegane wrote: ↑1 year ago Thomas has to focus on facilitating. Re: 11/15 | Stony Brook | 7:00PM (YurView/ESPN+)
Wow, the piling on on Thomas is something. He obviously needs to improve his shot but the lack of shooting in the rest of the lineup is what is highlighting his poor shooting. The kid has 8 assists and could have double that if some of the other guys could hit open shots as well. He's not forcing bad shots, if he's open he's taking it, needs to make some obviously but that's not why he's out there. I have come around on him after thinking last year that he should not even see the court. There have been some very successful point guards who can't shoot, some have had very successful NBA careers, think Rajon Rondo.

Rondo shot 55% from 2pt and 28% from 3pt in college lol.JFrech21 wrote: ↑1 year ago Wow, the piling on on Thomas is something. Thomas is shooting 45% and 18% in his career respectively. That’s also SEC vs A10. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here
But yes, I said this last week. Thomas being a 0 as a shooter/shot created is amplified when the lineup as a whole lacks shooters

All Lane does is talk smack about Thomas. Reminds me of 15 with Harris. We would be losing if Thomas didn’t play tonight. He’s had some incredible passes. He shoukd have 10-12 assists if we hit some shots.JFrech21 wrote: ↑1 year ago Wow, the piling on on Thomas is something. Re: 11/15 | Stony Brook | 7:00PM (YurView/ESPN+)
I was not comparing him to Rondo, just used him as an example. I'm not getting ahead of myself at all, just stating that point guards don't have to be great 3pt shooters to make big contributions. Those last 2 shots he just made should help those percentages as well.KingstonLane wrote: ↑1 year agoRondo shot 55% from 2pt and 28% from 3pt in college lol.JFrech21 wrote: ↑1 year ago Wow, the piling on on Thomas is something. Nothing wrong with taking them, we’ve had great ball movement and gotten a ton of open looks. We just don’t have enough shooters to be dangerous. I’m sure that is/will be a large focus for the staff going forward

Re: 11/15 | Stony Brook | 7:00PM (YurView/ESPN+)
They are going to win this game, but very disappointed in Freeman, Weston and the guard play this year. We are such a bad shooting team. I guess this rebuild is going to take a long time, but when Martin and Leggett are leading us we are definitely in for a long year. I guess Hutchinson was the bright side from this game. We haven’t been able to shoot at all the last 3 years

Should a team up 6 with 30 seconds left in the game win 99% of the time? Yes
But kinda crazy our announcers are acting like that kind of lead has never been blown before
