Ousmane would be an immediate starter at center for us this season.
Also, probably for about half the teams in the A10.
North Texas is no slouch team, they won 25 games last season (16-2, C-USA).
He had 16 pts against Virginia in the 2nd round NIT.
77,
Is your point on Ousmane that David Cox should have done more to keep Ousmane from leaving URI after he committed?
Sounds like you are saying Ousmane left URI because exactly why?
Ramster, just my guess.
I felt that once the twins committed here, Ousmane may have thought that Cox would prioritize them, and he would be buried on the bench.
Ousmane had committed here on a Friday, that following Monday the twins committed.
Within a few days after that Ousmane decommitted.
It turned out well for him, starting every game as a sophomore on a very good North Texas team and having a nice impact there.
Agree, a wise move by Ousmane, especially after seeing the disastrous 2 years for URI under Cox that Ousmane would have experienced.
I disagree with those who think Cox was a great recruiter. A huge part of Recruiting is being able to judge talent which includes physical ability, work ethic, basketball IQ, basketball emotional intelligence, upside potential, unselfishness. team player mentality, etc.
While posting the 1st game of the season results for 5 players, what about those who left and didn't do much?
Nate Brafford did not play in Georgia Southern's 15 point loss at San Jose State
Ileri Aya-Faleye did not play in Vermont's 1st game vs Brown. He played 8 minutes vs St Michael's and 13 minutes vs Middlebury in Exhibition games
Tres Berry played 12 minutes in a 31 point win by Charleston Southern over Tacoa Falls. He went scoreless, 3 steals, 4 assists.
Cox was often not a good judge of talent, work ethic, upside potential in recruits/transfers, etc.......... especially with big men as evidenced in the Twins and Jermaine Harris.
