2022 Rhody football commits
K Dylan Shank - it seems we were his only scholarship offer
LB AJ Pena - spent the year at Milford Prep, I'm not seeing other scholarship offers for him
QB Kennique Bonner-Steward - signed with Temple and was on their roster in 2019, looks like they spent this past year at Coahoma Community College. He should have three years of eligibility remaining. Was ranked as a 3 star coming out of high school and the 32nd ranked dual threat QB in his class. Was offered by Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, Old Dominion, and Tulane coming out of high school.

Wesley Neal is doing a lot of twitter recruiting that's for sure. Apparently we signed 3 big OL yesterday.

Re: 2022 Rhody football commits
Peña’s tape is impressive, he’s a true pass rusher. 21 sacks during his 1 prep season. The new O-lineman provide much needed depth. Overall pretty good for day 1. Rhody does the bulk of their signing during the 2nd singing period in Feb.RhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑2 years ago K Dylan Shank - it seems we were his only scholarship offer

Marquise Buchanan is a really good athlete. All-state in both football and basketball. 6'4" 175 and fast. He'll just have to get stronger, put on 15-20 lbs. It'll be fun to watch him develop.

Re: 2022 Rhody football commits
That would be cool. But he said recently that once he gets to college, he'll be devoted to football year round. It makes sense because some are saying that if he develops, with that size and speed, he could be a future NFL prospect.ramster wrote: ↑2 years agoBuchanan was RI POY last year and preseason POY in todays ProJo - in basketball.

Rhody just added depth to the TE position. A solid player out of Ohio who decommited from Lafayette and had offers from Holy Cross and Albany…

Nice additions to a already talented team. If we are not in the hunt for a playoff birth next season something went wrong.

Here’s the article on Baker de-committing from URI to go to Navy. Tough break for URI but Baker explains the opportunity he couldn’t pass up

This is great for the young man, not much of a loss for us. We’ve got 4 scholarship QBs on the roster and he would’ve been a 5th string walk on. Every student at the service academies are on scholarship.

Late addition: Harrison Leonard. K. Notre Dame. Strong leg. Could take over kicking duties.

247 sports had him the number 23 kicker in the country coming out of high school, ESPN had him number 9

Sounds like a smart kid, from this article. Already has his degree, and he's founded a company that'll help college players maximize their NIL opportunities.

Would be great for the program to have a good kicker. That is an area of the game where there is typically a big difference in the separate levels of college football.

Re: 2022 Rhody football commits
Huge weapon for a year. But you have to hand it URI they have had good kickers, Leslie, Feinstein and CJ over the pat decade. If the guy can kick 45-50 yards awesome but I don’t know if that is going to happen. Still a interesting player and I’m glad he is in the team.

Have you watched CJ Carrick for 4 years?
Most points by a kicker ever in URI history by a wide margin
I think Fleming gets the kicking game

Interesting to note that Harrison Leonard is listed as a back up on the 2 deep. Redshirt freshman Michael DeBolt is listed as the starter.

Re: 2022 Rhody football commits
I believe Leonard is kicking off because he has the stronger leg.
