ECR has been put in a Lyrical TimeOut
the administrators have told me that no longer can i post any more lyrics to songs
perhaps it was calling out Bill Koch that was the straw that broker the camel's back ?
But you and I both know that he was wrong and I rightfully called him out
just check the RECEIPTS.. they are all right there for people to decide for themselves
but the truth must have struck a nerve to a reporter falsely accusing little old me
so, as a fitting goodbye the the songs that I have brought you..
i leave you with this last song....
A long, long time ago
I can still remember how that music used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance that I could make those people dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while
But February made me shiver
With every paper I'd deliver
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step
I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died
So bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin' "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"
Did you write the book of love, and do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so?
Now do you believe in rock and roll, can music save your mortal soul
And can you teach me how to dance real slow?
Well, I know that you're in love with him
'Cause I saw you dancin' in the gym
You both kicked off your shoes
Man, I dig those rhythm and blues
I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the music died
I started singin' bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
And singin' "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"
Now for ten years we've been on our own, and moss grows fat on a rollin' stone
But that's not how it used to be
When the jester sang for the king and queen in a coat he borrowed from James Dean
And a voice that came from you and me
Oh, and while the king was looking down
The jester stole his thorny crown
The courtroom was adjourned
No verdict was returned
And while Lenin read a book on Marx
A quartet practiced in the park
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music died
We were singin' bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin' "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"
Helter skelter in a summer swelter, the birds flew off with a fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fast
It landed foul on the grass, the players tried for a forward pass
With the jester on the sidelines in a cast
Now the halftime air was sweet perfume
While the sergeants played a marching tune
We all got up to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance
'Cause the players tried to take the field
The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died?
We started singin' bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
And singin' "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"
Oh, and there we were all in one place, a generation lost in space
With no time left to start again
So come on, Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack Flash sat on a candlestick
'Cause fire is the devil's only friend
Oh, and as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No angel born in Hell
Could break that Satan's spell
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died
I started singin' it
Singin' bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
And singin' "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"
I met a girl who sang the blues, and I asked her for some happy news
But she just smiled and turned away
I went down to the sacred store where I'd heard the music years before
But the man there said the music wouldn't play
And in the streets, the children screamed
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken
And the three men I admire most
The Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died
And they were singin' bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin' "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"
They were singin' bye-bye, Miss American Pie

Re: ECR has been put in a Lyrical TimeOut
For the record, I've had no contact with the admins. I recognize this is a free space. Far worse has been said about me here -- that's fine. Comes with the job.
The receipts? Please. I mentioned in one piece URI had reportedly been in contact with Lander. I admitted to the same yesterday -- and reiterated contact does not equal an eventual marriage.
ECR, on no fewer than seven occasions in the Lander thread you offered some variation of 'Buckle Up' or 'Trust ECR' or 'He will be a Ram.' No idea why anyone here would believe you, but some folks clearly did. I never made another public allusion to what was happening in his recruitment. Rhody Vault perpetuated the same nonsense regarding Tre Mitchell.
You make this board a less informed and less intelligent place with that kind of speculative rubbish. If the admins are taking action against you I'd suggest it's more likely due to that. Certainly wasn't anything that came from me.

Re: ECR has been put in a Lyrical TimeOut
I have said it before, I will say it again, the lyrics are annoying. I come here to read about URI basketball, not to read song lyrics.
Scrolling past all of ECR lyrics are a pain in the you know what!!

Re: ECR has been put in a Lyrical TimeOut
I'm not sure what ECR's beef with Bill K is - I read the article and don't recall anything different than Bill's response in this thread or the other one. Just because Bill mentions in an article that URI's staff is looking at a player doesn't guarantee said player is going to commit to Rhody. It's quite a stretch to suggest otherwise.

Re: ECR has been put in a Lyrical TimeOut
ha.. somewhere there is a johnny cash song i am sure about the "hole"
don't tempt me !
let me put this to rest once and for all
whatever w the lyrics.. i could care less.. i was having a little fun as it all started w cox and johnny cash
if the administrators want them out.. fine.. that is their prerogative.. they run this great site and my hat off to them
they have kept me in touch w rhody fans for all these years and that a lone is a tremendous service they do on their part
they don't get thanked enough
what ticked me off is that you have a professional reporter come onto this site and slander me and said a false thing about me
what you don't know bill is that i have been posting here since projo days
i dont have sources .. never have .. never will
i say things tongue in cheek.. no one thought i was pulling a "Rhody Vault" here..
(altho i do think he gets a pass.. as i stated a bunch of times before)
i don't represent or make a career about rhody hoops via a website or social media page
everyone who knows me know i always speak passionately..
and i do that while rarely attacking anyone personally
i take exception and fight for what i believe what i rarely go after anyone w disdain or personally
so, for the record.. no one took me out to be adam schecter
i am just a passionate rhody fan who bleeds keaney blue
a message board is great when it does bring posters w content etc
i admire those posters - or else i wouldn't come here
but there is also a place on a message board to show raw emotion and vent or rejoice
i always admired the "vinegar" in rodfromcranston
and while people can take away the lyrics.. they can't take away the passion !

Re: ECR has been put in a Lyrical TimeOut
Part of me really hopes Bill's edit was adding the last couple of sentences (rather than simply fixing a typo) because that's a level of petty that I can rally behind. I don't think ECR is being called out due to his ill-informed posts - it's because his lyrics clog up threads with nonsense that add no value to the board. Mods here are far more lenient than other sites.

Re: ECR has been put in a Lyrical TimeOut
bill is a bit disingenuous here
all my post except for 1 about KL was within a short period he went into the portal
the 1 post i had after that was in response to another poster posting about his 4/16 article - which gave me hope
obviously i had no source - comical he thinks that i or anyone else thought i did
then radio silence in the thread for over 2 weeks until HIS article linking the possibility of KL coming to rhody
which then sets off a post from another person and fires up the thread again
he says initial contact doesnt equal marriage but yet he floats the KL name on 4/16
then he says
Lander and Mitchell were only conversations on this board because Elm City and Rhody Vault claimed genuine links.
ummm.. not true... you reignited the thread w your 4/16 article
was your 4/16 article remotely credible?
No. Period.

Again - comical - it was a belief
A faith I had that turned out true
What in the world of my 23+ years posting on this site makes you think I have sources ?!?

Wow - impressive
Again - where in the last 23+ years of my posts on Rhody message boards makes you think I “exactly”‘have sources related to Rhody hoops ?
I’ll await your “exact” example

Re: ECR has been put in a Lyrical TimeOut
Bingo - anyone can see that
Like I said - I have been on these message boards for 23+ years - it’s longer than that but I say 23 cas that was the April fools day and specifically remember that
You can come at me all you want but when you think I am saying I have sources then I need to punch back on that notion
Like I said .. 23+ years … and someone people think I have “sources”
And I boasted about Archie - hell yes I did - I had a helluva belief that was a home run for Rhody and I am not allowed to boast
Get real

Re: ECR has been put in a Lyrical TimeOut
To me, these comments came off bragging, ELM…. Similar to what Vault was doing when he kept saying vault guarantee.
It’s all good, and we both want the same thing, but I’m just giving you my honest opinion.
“I beat them all.”
“check the receipts”
“I was all over Archie for months”
“ECR IS NEVER WRONG”
“I TOLD YOU
I TOLD YOU”
“FOR 3 months, I have been telling you !!!”
“check the receipts”
“I was on Archie early on - very, very early on”
“everyone might have wanted him but i was out there saying he will be our coach”
ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING

The 80s really were a weird time, I guess. Not old enough to know first hand, but that video is just something else.Rhode_Island_Red wrote: ↑2 years ago This should be ECR's theme song:

Although I feel bad for college kids today because of what social media has done to people, so I would definitely prefer the 80s.

Re: ECR has been put in a Lyrical TimeOut
I am an avid reader and an occasional poster of this forum. ECR is one of my favorite posters. To me he is the Life of the party. He is outrageous but he is doing it to have fun! I love his optimism. I would think it should be obvious to everyone that ECR is not claiming to be an insider with connections, he is just convinced what he wants to happen will happen. I find that entertaining and I hope what he says comes true but in no way would I believe its happening because ECR (Mr Optimism ) is claiming it will happen. I think of ECR as the "Bluto" of this forum. Lighten up everyone and have some fun with ECR.

Re: ECR has been put in a Lyrical TimeOut
as i have stated all along - i am a 23+ year poster on this board
never claimed to have "sources" and 79RhodyFan gets it
as i said, for anyone to ever get the impression i have sources is comical
one day i will need to grab some drinks when i come up to a game and you will get my personality better
we had 2 girls the past 2 years and i moved further away so i didn't make it to a game recently - but hope to change that now that we will start to be relevant again under archie
i rarely (if ever) missed a game while i went to URI - i even drove to RI just to watch the URI/Purdue NCAA game because I was home (maybe it was spring break - i don't remember) - i drove back because i just couldn't miss the game and couldn't watch in CT
i even tried out to be the mascot one year
here is a post i made 8 years ago showing how long i have posted on this board - a long long time ago under projo
man - i wish we could access some old posts from that msg board !
here is an old post of mine from this site...

I remember that day as if it was yesterday.. wow.. 15 years ago?!?..
anyways.. I was following the story on the projo msg board and couldn't believe what I was reading
the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat

Re: ECR has been put in a Lyrical TimeOut
I had some issues with ECR’s posts in the waning days of the Cox administration but I think generally the shtick is harmless and obvious. I never got the impression that ECR was claiming to have a source and I think you can find posts where I expressed frustration over the victory-lapping when predictions that were based solely on wide-eyed optimism came true (I think I referenced broken clocks). In my mind, what ECR was doing here was a Superfan bit compared to Rhody Vault’s cosplaying as an insider, FWIW.

I lurked a long time before joining. The excellent Rhody basketball talk drew me here. That said, I think there is always room for some levity and ECR brings it for me.
This is a great place!

Re: ECR has been put in a Lyrical TimeOut
I just took it as him being overly optimistic. Like he was trying to speak it into existence. Pretty obvious.steveystuds06 wrote: ↑2 years agoCome on ELM.. You made it out to be like you had sources when you kept repeating Archie was coming here and then bragged about how you broke the news many times.ElmCityRhody wrote: ↑2 years ago bill is a bit disingenuous here
all my post except for 1 about KL was within a short period he went into the portal
the 1 post i had after that was in response to another poster posting about his 4/16 article - which gave me hope
obviously i had no source - comical he thinks that i or anyone else thought i did
then radio silence in the thread for over 2 weeks until HIS article linking the possibility of KL coming to rhody
which then sets off a post from another person and fires up the thread again
he says initial contact doesnt equal marriage but yet he floats the KL name on 4/16
then he says
Lander and Mitchell were only conversations on this board because Elm City and Rhody Vault claimed genuine links.
ummm.. not true... you reignited the thread w your 4/16 article
was your 4/16 article remotely credible?
No. Period.

Bill, ECR is to wit what Kyrie is to humility. He's also why they invented the IGNORE function.

He says you are why the IGNORE button was invented but then makes the snarky comment on your very own thread titled “ECR has been put in a Lyrical TimeOut”
Pretty easy to ignore based on the title.
Keep the faith ElmCity

I don’t mind song lyrics….but only the pertinent parts….not the entire song.
