Bray actually bounced around a bit. Started at Dematha before heading to O'Connell. After Huntington he finished at National with Kenny Johnson

I have no idea who he will land or what combination of players will commit. The team as currently constructed has holes everywhere so I’m cool with any combination of the transfers Archie is looking at whether that ends up being two players or three or four I have no idea.

Yes he played his senior year for Kenny Johnson. I was wondering if this was a guy who might be in play for us. Think there is a good chance that he signs here based on his relationship with Coach Johnson.

Question: Can you apply for a waiver before you put your name in the portal? Or do you have to put your name in the portal first?

Actually, I don't think you can apply for a waiver until you are signed and enrolled at your new school.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑2 years ago Question: Can you apply for a waiver before you put your name in the portal? Or do you have to put your name in the portal first?
That program sends in the waiver paperwork with their legal people or consultants who provide the expertise in trying to obtain the approval.

Ok. However, a player or people representing him can get an unofficial from his current school/coach/AD as to whether they are going to oppose a waiver request to xyz school. To my knowledge the current school’s opposition would be the only reason a waiver wouldn’t be granted.
So the paperwork becomes a formality.

They have been granting waivers pretty routinely and typically the previous school won't deny it.Rhody83 wrote: ↑2 years ago However, a player or people representing him can get an unofficial from his current school/coach/AD as to whether they are going to oppose a waiver request to xyz school. But that doesn't necessarily mean it automatically goes through, year's past there had been some head scratchers.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments 2022-23
My theory was that I thought it was odd when Archie said he might be adding to the roster right up until September. We all know the NCAA has the reputation for dragging its feet when it comes to these types of decisions. So, that was my thought on Tre, that it could be a while before we hear anything because of a waiver decision.

Most Multi-transfer waivers were approved last year. Actually I don’t think a single one got denied. Anyways Tre still has to enter the portal before May 1st, if he does enter it’ll be in the next 2 weeks.

I agree. It could be Kenny wanting to get his Rhody stamp on the DMV AAU programs.
Just letting them know that he will be paying attention to their players.

Re: General High School Recruiting Discussion/Comments 2022-23
What I'm beginning to realise is the new reality when it comes to recruiting high rated transfers and freshmen..
I mean now that we are competing for better players, it's not just a case of selling the school and or the program....recruits are going to schools who can offer the most cash or best NIL deal....we could be coming up short if we can't compete with P5s who have tons of resources to offer recruits. I really hope that Archie will not have to settle for leftovers after the richer programs have had their fill.

To add to my last post...now it's the boosters who have to step up in order to offer recruits good enough deals in order to land them. The school did it's part by upgrading the program big time. Now it's up to them. Slimy business or not, it has to be done.

There is a growing school of thought that many long time coaches don’t enjoy the fact that other schools can now also bribe and pay kids to go play there.

Re: General High School Recruiting Discussion/Comments 2022-23
What makes you think the boosters didn’t already step up to upgrade the program big time. Has anyone seen the details of Archie’s deal and the funding of the other upgrades? When Thorr made his best offer to Dan (before he left for UConn) most of the money to pay Dan and fund his assistants was coming from boosters. I know the new URI President is a bigger supporter of BB than Dooley was. I just haven’t heard what the school’s contribution/ongoing commitment was to get Archie. Obviously the boosters have funded the remaining portion for the practice facility.rambone 78 wrote: ↑2 years ago To add to my last post...now it's the boosters who have to step up in order to offer recruits good enough deals in order to land them. The boosters can’t legally give money to players. The larger schools do have a significant marketing reach so top players will be able to sell their name and merchandise. One booster can’t buy $100,000 of it.

Good question, and which places see it as a “problem” or “opportunity”?NYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑2 years agoDo you you think more places see that as a "problem" or an "opportunity"?
Maybe could summarize by the 32 D1 Conferences. Which conferences see opportunity, see problems or combo of both?

Actually, I think the homework assignment is to assess the sitch for every D1 team. Help? Hurt? Neutral? If someone could get that done that'd be awesome.ramster wrote: ↑2 years agoGood question, and which places see it as a “problem” or “opportunity”?NYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑2 years agoDo you you think more places see that as a "problem" or an "opportunity"?

GG Jackson plays for CP3 in EYBL. CP3 is now 7-1 after games in Orlando and Indianapolis this past weekend. Coaches from Auburn, Duke, Georgetown, North Carolina, South Carolina and UMass were in attendance at Indianapolis.
UMass: "When they let Frank go I was waiting to see which job he would get and when he landed at UMass I was really happy for him and his family. He immediately got on the phone with my parents and started discussing things. It still shows the love he had for me and him wanting me to come with him, showed that he wants me a lot."
