My guess is he hasn’t visit yet. I think he is visiting this week as is Durugordon.

Re: Femi Odukale
So do we get a commit later today? I'm sure he had a great visit. Nothing has been said that he was not here this weekend.

Re: Femi Odukale
Rothstein did say two days ago the Femi was visiting RI this weekend. I don’t have anything to refute that. It just seems unusual that none of the traditional post on social media have been posted over the last two days.

Re: '20 NY SG - Femi Odukale (Pittsburgh ---> ??? )
Just realized seeing Femi’s profile that I watched him play at Springfield Commonwealth Academy. He was recruited to SCA by none other than Tony Bergeron. Bergeron started the SCA program. He was the head coach before leaving (the year before Fermi graduated) to UMass. Bergeron tried to recruit Femi to UMass but he selected Pitt. He was the PG in high school.

Listed in Femi’s order of priority.
Archie closes on Femi at the end of his visit.

No question. This is how it will be running with the big boys. Let’s goooooo!steveystuds06 wrote: ↑2 years agoYup. That's what happens when you're trying to recruit players that can help lead you to a bid. Femi is an absolute stud and without question a high major player.

Hometown Maryland, close by Seton Hall, slightly further UConn and URI... or 3,000 miles away Oregon.
We may be URI running with the big boys here. But we have a top tier coach and real playing time available.

Maryland - seems like they have the need for guards with Fatts gone, but is Ayala returning as a Grad student?
Seton Hall - Holloway could be a beast on the recruiting trail for the next couple of years riding this last tournament wave. "Look at what I just did at small time St. Peters. Come play for me at Seton Hall and the sky is the limit."
UConn - Dan could sell salt to a slug, but also seems like the place Odukale would have the most competition for playing time
URI - starting our "re-build" with a top tier coach and soon to be high amenities. Can come in and have immediate impact, leader of the team, fan praise.
I may be slightly prejudice here, but I don't see how he wouldn't choose URI.

If Archie gets Femi and Durugordon, the only real inside post presence is Samb on the roster, so I think at that point you direct your attention at trying to find a decent frontcourt player. Which, except for last year, was always a Rhody tradition.

URI is definitely recruiting transfer big men right now. We just don’t know who they are, there’s a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes.

How about a big juco that clogs the middle?

I think there are still a few juco bigs out there that aren’t yet committed to a school. Players in the top 30 juco’s.

I know Tre generated some more noise today but I think Femi should be our biggest target right now. Getting a guard who can score consistently slots everyone else in our back court into a spot they’re better suited for. I didn’t see any social media posts after his visit though.

UConn is expected to get a commitment from Virginia Tech transfer Nahiem Alleyne today. With Hawkins, Jackson, Newton, and a possible Stephon Castle re-class, that wouldn’t leave a lot of minutes for a guy like Odukale. That might take them off the list.

SH and Maryland concern me the most.
Rhoden is probably gone but SH still has Richmond.

if UConn ends up being out, this becomes Seton Hall vs Rhode Island, me thinks.

Re: '20 NY SG - Femi Odukale (Pittsburgh ---> ??? )
SH has Harris coming back as a senior and another Two guards coming in as a freshman, Rhoden played at PIT tourney last week so that’s a definite he’s gone, Maryland scares me more because they have more open spots, but idk this will be interesting
Getting Femi would be huge and slide in right at the 3rd guard position, and something we’ve been missing since Tyrese left to be able to guard the big guards so
leggett doesn’t get overpowered by them

Femi can actually play all 3 guard positions (including wing).Dino611 wrote: ↑2 years agoSH has Harris coming back as a senior and another Two guards coming in as a freshman, Rhoden played at PIT tourney last week so that’s a definite he’s gone, Maryland scares me more because they have more open spots, but idk this will be interesting

He would give Archie plenty of options.
Would still like to close on Duru at the wing, good competition with Martin.

Let’s hope Femi wants to come here and be the man instead of a complimentary piece at one of the P6

Time will tell. I'd like to add both players. Femi is bringing much more experience to the table playing 2 seasons while Sean barely played in half a season. I do not get the logic of entering the portal during the season. Seems like a waste of eligibility/opportunity.

Re: '20 NY SG - Femi Odukale (Pittsburgh ---> ??? )
If Dawes commits to SH, it may help us with Femi.
SH also has Richmond, Harris, Long (injured 21-22), freshman RS 4* Weston, plus 2 CG '22 recruits coming in.
Not even counting Rhoden who I assume will stay in the draft but can return.

Agreed, if the guard from Detroit (Davis) commits to Maryland I think it’ll definitely put us in the drivers seat, I’m just wondering why we haven’t heard anything for a while

I think this is the new normal with Coach Archie. Don't expect to hear updates, they want everything hush hush until the commitment
