We here at the AMCT would like to expand our approach to support any top name candidate that would bring buzz and winning basketball at Kingston.
We are confident in our donors and athletic leadership to make that happen.

My take is Archie isn't going to happen, doubt there is mutual interest on his part.
But yeah, hopeful for a different splash hire.

I just dont see it happening. Too many jobs open he will be on lists for.

Yea, we all obviously want him, but only one or two people here actually truly think we have a legitimate chance at him.Rhodyhooopz wrote: ↑2 years ago I just dont see it happening. Too many jobs open he will be on lists for.
If we did get him obviously it would be great, but I would always be worried he would leave for a bigger job after each season he was in Kingston.
Just an example, but Capel's buyout drops to 5 million next season, and I would see Archie going to Pitt in a heartbeat, even after only his first season here.

No, it's absolutely not.theblueram wrote: ↑2 years agoAgreed. A splash hire is the most important thing.
A GOOD hire is the most important thing.
A splashy hire could turn into a massive disappointment.
A good, boring hire could turn into a perennial tournament team.

Disagree. Any "splashy" hire being discussed here is Mack/Hurley/Miller.Rhody15 wrote: ↑2 years agoNo, it's absolutely not.

Either of those is a home run. The name/associated investment that will have taken place to get them will guarantee all-conference talent coming to Kingston.
I think it's pretty clear that people have narrowed down the "splash" conversation to those names based on what's been slung around.
We'll find out next week.

I mean the big name guys who have coaching success at this level (or above) you can make a solid guess on. The up and comers are more the question marks. Not Mike Powell wrote: ↑2 years agoHere’s a thought. No one has any clue until they play the games.

Not sure if this will take Mack out of the equation:
I have to think that Mack will be Xavier's first call.

Here's another thought. Preseason buzz is important. Hire someone that doesn't do that = yuge mistake. The games won't matter til they matter...they need to create some interest asap. Not Mike Powell wrote: ↑2 years agoHere’s a thought. No one has any clue until they play the games.

Re: The Archie Miller Conspiracy Thread.
So are we saying that we don't want someone who has the personality of a "rock"?
How about someone with a salary under $1M?
Is the AMFC waiving a white towel and in need of rebranding?
I'm hopeful for a fiery young coach with an incentive laded contract and a URI friendly buy-out.

Someone at ESPN is reporting it too, because I just got an alert on my phone but when I went to open it, it didn’t go anywhere (this happens all the time with ESPN because their app is the worst an app with that much resources behind it could possibly be).

I’m hopeful that he doesn’t want to go to Xavier and totally torch his legacy at Dayton. I can’t imagine Dan taking the Providence job, for example.bigappleram wrote: ↑2 years ago Let's hope Xavier didn't move quick today bc they caught wind of it and are targeting him...these are more than whispers at this point.

Wow! Incredible news. Hopefully this leak/information is not being used by Archie's camp to speed things up with other schools or force other programs too commit to him. Credit to Thor for even getting him to the alter. Now lets say I do and get it done! Beyond excited.

Maybe but Pete Thamel now works for ESPN. And he was in that tweet above with Rothstein. So I would think its THamel.
