URI up 9 with 30 seconds left and Tammi's yelling at her team. Gotta love it.

Re: I'm jumping on the bandwagon!
URI wins 60-52. Stars of the game are Chanelle Williams, a speedy guard with 15 points and multiple "holy shit" assists, steady forward Marie-Paule Foppossi with 15 points and last year's A10 co-player of the year (and sure to repeat this year) forward Emannuelle Tahane with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Game was never in doubt. Rhody Lady Rams now 7-0 in A10 and 17-3 overall. Great team and coach!

And with under a minute left and up 10 two women were on the floor fighting for a loose ball. She's got complete buy in from her team. So impressive!

Re: I'm jumping on the bandwagon!
The starting 5 is settled and it’s the right starting 5. Everyone is focused on the opponent.
Tonight all 60 points were scored by the 5 starters but the bench players contributed. All know their roles. Tammi has herself, her coaches, her staff and her players all focused on one thing- winning the A10 Championship. There are no doubts, crystal clear.
St Louis is a good team. Tall players.
Final Scoreboard as time ran out. Nice.
I’ll watch the Fordham game tomorrow.

Sign me up. I am in next game. I've only ever watched one WBB game in my life as a Ram but now seems like a great time to buy into our one winning program.

now that I am a big fan of our WBB team (started at the end of the MBB Fordham game), can someone tell me how bids for NCAA tourney work for womens basketball? Do we have a shot even if we don't win A10 title?

Re: I'm jumping on the bandwagon!
64 teams made the WBB Tournament last year but this year they expanded to 68 to be the same as MBB.phipsiGD'11 wrote: ↑2 years ago now that I am a big fan of our WBB team (started at the end of the MBB Fordham game), can someone tell me how bids for NCAA tourney work for womens basketball? URI Is top in the A10 with a NET = 45. UMASS and Dayton are right behind, and Fordham is close too. A10 WBB is possible to have 2 teams, outside shot at more.
We have played UMASS twice already. Won both. 2 huge games coming up with Dayton. We are both undefeated in A10.

Re: I'm jumping on the bandwagon!
Check out ESPN's women's bracketology... I don't know how accurate it is historically, but there aren't many other WBB bracket projection sites so it's all we really have to go on. Their latest update was Monday and Rhody was among the first four out. They have Dayton getting the auto-bid. An at-large is very much in play.phipsiGD'11 wrote: ↑2 years ago now that I am a big fan of our WBB team (started at the end of the MBB Fordham game), can someone tell me how bids for NCAA tourney work for womens basketball? Re: I'm jumping on the bandwagon!
From looking at last year's numbers - I think it was the Top 33, or Top 35 teams in NET, that were safely in. So, I think URI would need to get to that threshold to feel "safe," regardless of how they perform in the A-10 tournament. I think if they and Dayton both finish with gaudy conference records, and if one of them is the autobid, then the other could certainly get an at-large bid.phipsiGD'11 wrote: ↑2 years ago now that I am a big fan of our WBB team (started at the end of the MBB Fordham game), can someone tell me how bids for NCAA tourney work for womens basketball? Re: I'm jumping on the bandwagon!
UD and Rhody are both undefeated in A-10, riding double-digit win streaks.
We're undefeated at home, something the men have never done in the history of the RC.
We have three home games left, and play UD on Wednesday the 16th.
We then finish the regular season in Ohio.
Some big-time games coming up!

Heck Tammi even inspires me to work harder!!!! She’s freaking fantastic! Personally I think she’s one of Thor’s best hires besides Fleming and Danny.

Absolutely! Her energy is contagious. You don't see a lot of that these days. URI up 39-37. URI is 1 for 1 from 3. LaSalle is 10 for 29. They've made 2 2-point shots.

Gutsy road win 66-60. Chanell Williams seals it with her 4th steal and court-length layup. 4 of 5 URI starters in double figures. 11 in a row, 8-0 in A10, 18-3 on the year. Helluva game!

Re: I'm jumping on the bandwagon!
Total team win. Fopossi with 15, Elmore and Tahane with 14, Cairns with 12 (5 in the last 90 seconds) and Williams with 2 big steals in the last minute. This is clearly a seasoned team that knows how to weather a storm and close out games.

Re: I'm jumping on the bandwagon!
The first and second round games are at the home sites of the top 16 seeds. Bridgeport is a Sweet 16/Elite 8 site so they'd have to get there first. So, two wins plus some luck in being placed in the right region. If that all falls into place it's worth noting that the Amtrak stop in Bridgeport is basically at the arena...theblueram wrote: ↑2 years ago If they make the tournament what are the chances they play in Bridgeport?

Re: I'm jumping on the bandwagon!
The differences between Tammi's team and David's are obvious. The Lady Rams have a rock solid starting five - 4 starters average double figures per game. The fifth averages 8.5 with 2 steals a game, and had 5 today.
All five starters average at least 2 assists a game, and limit unforced turnovers. They make their free throws - 4 starters shoot .667, .731, .857 and .895. They move well without the ball and have a balanced inside/out game. 3 players average more than 8 rebounds a game.
Their defense bends but doesn't break. In today's game they started slow, went ahead, lost several leads late in the game but showed tenacity and discipline to pull out the win.
Here are their balanced starters:
Forward Emannuelle Tahane, 2021 A10 co-player of the year, is playing at the same high level: 14.3 ppg, 8.6 reb., .575 fg/.667 ft/ 3 ast.
Forward Marie-Paule Foppossi averages 11.7 ppg, 8 reb., and 3 ast.
Guard Dez Elmore averages 11.9 ppg, 8.7 reb, shoots .467 and .731 f/t.
Guard Dolly Cairns averages 11.4 ppg, shoots .462 (with team-leading 42 3s and
.857 at the line.
Guard Chanell Williams averages 8.5.ppg, 4.1 reb., 2.8 ast., shoots19 3s@ .373, .885 at the line and has 55 assists to 45 turnovers.
They're an awful lot of fun to watch. They remind me of our men's team ... from a few years back of course. Come out and show your support!

I've had many experiences with clown cars. Heck, I may have driven one in the past, but this is WAY beyond threshold of tolerable clown cars.
