Going off of the Nebraska model, that could be good for URI and PC athletes, being the most prominent athletes in the state

But because a large percentage of fans in the state are PC fans, PC players will get most of the action.

The exact problem with this NIL rollout …

“ A local business, Flyer Faithful LLC, led by former Dayton Flyers star Brian Roberts, announced Thursday it will compensate Dayton Flyers men’s basketball players for endorsements.”

Can’t wait to hear what’s going on at schools with many deep-pocketed donors…

What Rhody players will Durkin Rentals get for endorsements of their down the line student housing listings? Who will sign with Geabers?

Need to be really creative in this space - I have a good idea if anyone is interested but don’t want to put it out there publicly because we would want to be the first to do it.

Here are some other endorsement possibilities

UMass players will endorse their favorite cannibas pot shops

Louisville players will provide personal testaments on their experience with local escort services

UNLV players will be spokesmen for casinos on the strip

Baylor players will recommend their favored local gun shop

Good question, probably just a sign of the times as many teams are facing, even good ones.
Cisse did mention that he likes the way Oklahoma State develops their players.

Don't feel too bad for Penny, he just won the NIT last season.
He also has the #1 recruiting class in the AAC for 21-22, plus added 3 talented transfers.

Tre Mitchell - Mass, SO C ( 19 pts/7 rebs)
Timmy Allen - Utah, JR SF (17 pts/ 6.4 rebs/ 4 assists)
Dylan Disu - Vanderbilt, SO PF (15 pts/9 rebs)
Christian Bishop - Creighton, JR F (11 pts/ 6.4 rebs)
Devin Askew - Kentucky, FR G (6.5 pts/ 3 assists).

Funny when you think about it - most of those transfers came from other P5 programs. Creighton is BE. So only one transfer coming from the mid-major level.

I agree this transfer rule is going to make rooting for a school suck because every year will be like free agency - but it's not just going to be players coming from lower level programs, it'll be anyone who thinks they can make a basketball career happen and just need to find some playing time.

That article is from May, so yeah. I think I need more than a vague tweet from Rothstein though because I consider it a trend. Also, it's NCAA basketball - All the stats are public, and you can get tape on pretty much every team if you want it. If you're a coach confident in your ability to teach and to recruit, you don't worry about it.

Rothstein got major push back from that tweet, bunch of coaches calling it BS.

Mid majors already complain enough about getting shafted from the tourney in favor of middling P5 teams.

So mid majors are gonna play even LESS games against P5 teams and decrease their at large bids even more??

1000% will not happen.

Are you referring to the 4 star transfers who didn't play up to expectations at their first college and transferred to URI? You and your twin should find a college basketball team that you can support. URI is not in a position to recruit tier 1 players and coaches, and must develop talent to compete at the highest level of college basketball.

Supposedly one of the top remining players in the portal Keith Williams has been getting strong interest from Maryland.

As previously mentioned, he is a CG (6'5") grad transfer from Cincy averaged 14.3 pts/4 rebs/ 2.5 assists and considered an immediate impact player.

Isaac Kante (Hofstra) would be a nice pickup for an A10 or BE school, adding frontcourt depth.
Last season averaged 13 pts/ 56%FG/ 10 rebs) and he stays out of foul trouble. He was All CAA first team.
Had 17 rebounds against Rutgers
Had 15 pts/ 13 rebounds against the Bonnies
Had 16 pts/ 11 rebounds in a win against Richmond

72,

Why the hate for Russell? You said all comments should be positive. Does that not apply to Russell?

Keith Williams is a replacement for Wiggins and Morsell who left Maryland, Williams is not a PG.

Did you read the article?

Trying to poke the bear as some other PC Trolls in Sheep’s Clothing tend to do here?

A career 29.4 percent 3-point shooter, he's unlikely to boost the Terps significantly from the perimeter, but he could replace some of the slashing and defense provided by similar-bodied players Aaron Wiggins and Darryl Morsell, the latter of whom also took the NCAA's extra-year offer, and transferred to Marquette.

He made a mistake to go to Georgia and now he's making a mistake by leaving Hofstra.

Russell is a former URI player who plays PG. Maryland brings in a grad transfer player who is described as a combo-guard (CG). This is competition for Fatts any way you cut it This has nothing to do with being positive toward URI or negative toward Fatts, You must be feeling guilty about your negativity for URI. I recently described Fatts' transfer as a win for URI and Fatts. Go find a college basketball program you can support and enjoy the game. GO RHODY!!!

You obviously didn’t read the article. He is coming in to replace Wiggins and Morsell - neither are point guards.
Fatts will be the PG at Maryland - period.
Exactly, you are glad Russell is gone and that is great for URI. Then you post like you are hoping this guy takes Russell’s playing time at Maryland and Turgeon must not be happy with Fatts. You are a TROLL as BlueMan says.

Yes Ramster, Maryland is pursuing Williams extremely hard as a CG, and will not affect Fatts.
If they do land him, Maryland will be loaded with firepower and Fatts role there should be much different than it was here.
He will be the PG, setting the table for Ayala and Williams(if he commits) both good size guards at 6'5" , along with Scott (F) and Wahab (C).

I guess Maryland is out of the running for Keith Williams.
They just got grad SG transfer Xavier Green from Old Dominion and they are at their scholarship limit.

JH's playing time may continue to diminish this season.
Michael Peake soph. PF (6'8" 220 lbs) committed to New Mexico State and could be an impact player there, he would need a waiver for 21-22.
He averaged 11 pts/5 rebs/ 62% FG at Austin Peay.

No, I wish him the best and I hope he has a nice finish to his college career. I would never root against a former player.

New Mexico State has a good program and coach Chris Jans has been extremely successful there.

The competition for playing time will always be tough there.

Michael Peake soph. PF (6'8" 220 lbs) committed to New Mexico State and could be an impact player there, he would need a waiver for 21-22.
He averaged 11 pts/5 rebs/ 62% FG at Austin Peay.

Are you hoping he sees less playing time?
I'd guess more than a few here would be rooting for that
No, I wish him the best and I hope he has a nice finish to his college career. I would never root against a former player.

New Mexico State has a good program and coach Chris Jans has been extremely successful there.

The competition for playing time will always be tough there.
Interesting read about the addition of Michael Peake on the NM State Message board with such an already large roster

Ramster , they definitely are loaded at most positions.
They return their top 3 scorers: Rice (G),Tilman(F), and McCants (F) plus Allen(SG) Nebraska transfer should be 4 starters
and they have several options for the 5th.

I wouldn't be surprised if they win the WAC, making it 4 out of the last 5 years.

As expected the A10 took a hit in the transfer market, but we did pick some nice players.
As a comparison, I listed some of the most impactful transfers, probably left several out.
Losses:
Tre Mitchell- Texas
Kellen Grady - Kentucky
Fatts Russell - Maryland
Joel Soriano - St. Johns
Marcus Weathers - SMU
Jamison Battle - Minnesota
Tyler Kolek - Marquette
Carl Pierre - Rice

Gains:
Toumani Camara - Dayton
Marcus Tsohonis- VCU
D'Shawn Schwartz - GM
Francis Okoro (RS) - SLU
Ishmael El-Amin - URI
Kobe Elvis - Dayton
Rich Kelly - UMass
Abdoul Coulibaly - Bonnies
