With Preston? That'd be weird. Are they going to flip a coin for him?

Re: '13 Chicago PF - Alex Foster
No, Brandon Willaby, is an assistant coach at some small-time school and an AAU guy. He Twittered that he'd had "Duke" on his mind and wrote Bobby, but meant Dan. There's also an interesting article about "Little-Little Ricky" running off Foster and other Tubby Smith recruits. The comment section is very interesting….like this board!!!!

He must think Dan went to Duke lets roll with it. I think Dan probably would have strangled Christian Laetner a few times if he did though.

No, he corrected himself, etc., If Dan and Preston are meeting with him and Foster, this could be one of the big pushes….

This could be very significant.
Getting a big man this late and of Foster's
reputation, is huge, if they pull it off.

Re: '13 Chicago PF - Alex Foster
I agree Rod, this would be significant. To be able to grab a Big 10 level big man during the late signing period would be great.
Foster or the nigerian big would be a very nice get at this point. If we can land either of them the front court depth we would have would leave me drooling.

We can be like Michigan State and pound the hell out
of people on the boards.
With Matthews and Munford and whatever SG they recruit this year
or next, this could be a very dangerous team.

I would be extremely pumped if we are able to land this guy. Watched some highlights on him, everyone should check it out if they have a chance.

Re: '13 Chicago PF - Alex Foster
Foster, a 6-8, 215 pound-forward, averaged 15.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game last season as a junior at De La Salle. He has been highly-rated in the Chicago area since his freshman year at De La Salle.
“Alex Foster is a young man that can play both forward positions,” said Tubby Smith. “He is a lefty that has an all-around game - the ability to put the ball on the floor at his size, shoot with range and has a very good basketball I.Q.”
An honor roll student all three years at De La Salle, Foster was named to the 2011 Panther Hoops All-Tournament Team, the 2011 Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team and the 2010 John McBride Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team.
Foster also held multiple offers but ultimately chose the Gophers over Auburn, Wisconsin, Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue and Tennessee.

Re: '13 Chicago PF - Alex Foster
You can see the progress in his game at Seton.
He can put the ball on the floor and drive, instead of just putbacks.
Very impressive, and worth a scholarship, based on all the information we have.
And he's a lefty, which is always a URI plus.
Being a good student is also a big positive!

Does anyone know which other schools are recruiting Foster now?
I saw a list of schools he was considering before he opted for Minnesota......are those schools at their scholarship limit?

I'm confused. Are these two guys the same guy? The one from DeLaSalle is shooting right handed and the one from Seton is shooting left handed.

ESPN Analyst
Updated 04/17/2013
Strengths:
This long and athletic forward has a good basketball body for such a young player. He slithers between defenders for nice finishes or drawing fouls. Foster also displayed the ability to rebound with authority in a crowd. He runs the floor very well and is quick to the ball. Foster has developing good hands and makes plays with his consistent effort.
Weaknesses:
He has a funny release on his shot especially from the free throw line. His form is not bad but he releases his guide hand too soon which at times moves his shot off line. This young lefty is raw and must continue to work to develop his overall skills and at times seems to still finding his way but the talent and potential are very evident.
Bottom Line:
Alex is a lefty post player that is smooth and talented. He is a little raw right now but is developing a face-up basket game. He has range on his shot right now to 15 feet. He is long and athletic and is very good transition. Tremendous amount of upside.

I don't believe he is the guy shooting left handed. Re: '13 Chicago PF - Alex Foster
Someone please solve this mystery for me. Go back and watch that video of Foster. Foster for DeLaSalle is #54. He shoots free throws right handed. Foster for Seton is #32. He shoots free throws left handed. I don't even think they look alike. Which one is the one we're recruiting?

You would think there's a decent chance he'll follow Tubby Smith to Texas Tech. was comfortable to sign with him once.... That's what Hurley will have overcome. Hopefully he gives URI a visit.

What else is disturbing is, he seems to be deleting the
pro URI tweets sent his way.
Not one on his page.
Hey, he was recruited successfully by Tubby Smith to Minnesota.
Maybe Biggie Minnis should tell him that Lubock, Texas is a hell hole, and
Texas Tech is a football school.

Big difference going from a Staten Island school to Rhode Island, vs.
going from Minnesota to Lubock, Texas.
Which by the way, is a footbal school, which even the great
Bob Knight only had moderate success.

This wasn't Bob Knight in 1976, 1986 or even 1996. He was well past his prime by the time he went to Texas Tech. It's still a Big 12 program with solid, football-based financial backing.

Looks like he's going to TT. I think staff really wanted him.
Tough to lose out, but I'm sure they're looking at others who will be just as good a fit.
Just hope Dan is looking at 4 year players, rather than more transfers. In 2 years, they will be losing a big part of the team to graduation. Have to keep the continuity going.
Just saw BFC's post. Maybe not so fast!

I hope it's nice weather when he gets here.
URI is less than pretty in the rain and mud.
As Iggy said, he visits and staff gets their shot at convincing him.
Preston has worked hard on this one, and very hard in this live period,
to come up with players.

Not sure if by "upgrade" you are referring to location, but Lubbock is probably not an upgrade (to mn, or pretty much anywhere else). Awful weather, dust storms, tornadoes, it's an oven in the summer and actually pretty cold in the winter. Not to mention there is absolutely nothing to do there, and nothing is close.
If he does choose lubbock, it'll be for tubby.

Minneapolis-St. Paul isn't a bad place at all.
Lubbock, Texas on the other hand, is a shithole.
Their basketball program is a disaster.
If its a good weekend, have some of the players take him to a beach.
That's something they don't have in Lubbock.

The twin cities aren't bad but I'm just not into being land locked or being in such a cold place.
If you want to see something funny, though, do a google image search for "Rhode Island" and "Lubbock, TX".
