The slow start felt inevitable with the weird start time on the road. No reason we shouldn't be able to overpower these guys the rest of the way.

I am sorry and I know we’re thin - but I would rather have Malik or any other guard on the floor than Harris.

He is never in position on offense or defense. He isn’t active. He’s a waste of space and hurts everything.

Really sucks Mitchell x2 is hurt. Don’t think Harris would even see minutes at this point otherwise

Harris barely dunked a ball at 6’9 jumping at the circle from a full sprint and somehow hurt himself.

Not sure that’s the victory lap worth taking.

But yes, nice 2 points. Almost makes up for the 3 buckets he gave up.

Jalen Carey’s line is going to look impressive.

Especially when you consider the things that don’t show up, like constantly being out of position on defense and giving up open shots.

What is Cox doing going away from the rotation used in the Dayton game? Get Carey out of there and certainly can’t have him out there in closing minutes of the half when you need Defense.

Cox still on learning curve. How many years has he been as assistant coach on a D 1 college basketball team? Way too many to not know you should use the 3 fouls we had to give at the end of the half!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!

That three was a -2000 favorite to go in. How on earth do you not give a couple fouls there? At least one in the backcourt and one in the frontcourt before they even get near a shot. As much on the assistants there, too. Coaching malpractice.

Poor coaching by Cox only have 3 team fouls and he lets the ball go to half court and they hit a 3 at the horn , it’s little things like those that kill us

95% of coaches use fouls at the end of halves to prevent teams from getting an open shot. It’s pretty basic basketball knowledge.

Hopefully Morey will ask him and they can discuss it of camera. Just cannot get over that CYO coaching move (lack of).
He puts in Martin for defense which obviously is a good move but I guess he is limited to one good move when the clock is stopped.

What the hell are yall talkin about?

Nobody ever intentionally fouls when they have fouls to give at the end of the first half.

I've never seen that ever and I'd be surprised if anyone can think of one instance where someone did that In that type of situation.

First off, it very seldom happens because it's rare to have less than 6 fouls at that point in the half. Secondly, just because you haven't seen it, doesn't mean it's not the right thing to do.

Is this your first time watching basketball? You rarely see it because 95% of the time you have at least six fouls. The other 5% of the time good coaches down to middle school will handle it a certain way. Steal a possession using fouls.

Still trying to be optimistic in the face of mounting evidence to the contrary. But the shorter rotation that worked? Why are we going away from it?

I hope Morey asks in the post game. The only acceptable answer is “I was sending a message” or “the tourney moved up so I need our guys to get rest” - I still disagree because I think you play your shorter rotation so they get used to playing together. And I’d like to see more of Martin.

But at least I could respect those answers.

Not fouling at the end of the half shows a lack of awareness. Again, trying to hold the optimism but that’s basketball 101.

Not knowing about this NOVEL strategy must be contagious on our staff as apparently not one of our assistants let the head coach know about this new found strategy. Unbelievable this can happen at a D 1 program.
Anyone who opposes this strategy should apply for a job on our staff.

Life and death with GW tells me all I need to know about this team and coach.

So much for optimism......and we thought Cox was starting to figure things out?

We always leave the opponents best shooters wide open. That's great coaching.

Ish Leggett does so many good little things for a freshman.

Not giving up on steals. Fast feet on defense. Running on breaks. 2 healthy Mitchell’s and ish next year gives me hope. Martin on D and if stephens can come in and be a dead eye shooter I am hopeful.

GW subbed in. URI could have subbed in. Hell I would have told Carey to give three fouls. One in the backcourt. One in the frontcourt. Conservatively that puts them inbounding at around 3 seconds. Option 1 is foul a 3rd time if they are far enough away. Option 2 is a contested shot. If they make it tip your cap. Don't sit on your hands watching a drive and kick. Also, if you are fouling or have the option of defending with your hands a little, you would never have to help off a shooter.

Maybe this team will find their strength in this game. All season they have made it difficult on themselves, Rebounding, defense, and athleticism should get you to 500 easy.
