I've always joked that DePaul is the Fordham of the Big East. This year is just adding more evidence to that joke.... Fordham has yet to play a game, either.

With all the craziness, over 90% of college basketball programs are infection free and playing. The cancelations stick out, but basketball is will make it.

This is a really good article and, from what I’ve heard from people who are in it, completely accurate. The hope is that once teams get into conference play, while they’re still going to have cancellations, at least there will be a set pool of teams to rework the schedule with.

Re: Covid-19 Effect on College Basketball & Other Sports
That's the tough part about college programs, is at least the pros have more medical protocols and in general the players get much greater individual attention. In the article it mentions the conference heart monitoring protocol, but you wonder if UF just did a cursory review to check the box. As opposed to the Red Sox with Eduardo Rodriguez for example, where they monitored him during a bunch of short bullpen sessions to ensure he was fit to perform, then finally decided there is a lingering issue and they wouldn't risk further problems due to the myocarditis.
Fortunately we are building up a large enough sample that this is rare, and vaccinations have started.

Has the conference commented on plans for cancelled games? Best effort to make them up, if not possible oh well?
Really sucks for us. We had 5 in conference Q1 opportunities and VCU next Saturday was one of them. Imagine that won’t be happening

I'm guessing they'll make up all the games they can...and some will be canceled...but I'd bet this one gets played (sometime).KingstonLane wrote: ↑3 years ago Has the conference commented on plans for cancelled games? Best effort to make them up, if not possible oh well?

Maybe they extend the visit in Feb and play here twice....

Yes playing them twice while here probably makes the most sense. Unfortunately that’s a Q2 game instead of a Q1. Covid year though, expect the unexpected I supposeNYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑3 years agoI'm guessing they'll make up all the games they can...and some will be canceled...but I'd bet this one gets played (sometime).KingstonLane wrote: ↑3 years ago Has the conference commented on plans for cancelled games? Agreed, I think back to back games makes the most sense during these times. Avoiding unnecessary travel should be the key and several conferences are scheduling that way, especially makeup games.KingstonLane wrote: ↑3 years agoYes playing them twice while here probably makes the most sense. I want to see URI play top level competition. But, I really don't think that they will win many of these games. Not this year. Not until we learn to increase scoring opportunities by reducing TOs and improving shot selection.

I think it was Jeff Goodman that posted about it. It’s BU. They adopted a mask policy. I don’t know if it’s just for men’s basketball or other sports as well.
He said they wore masks in their game against Holy Cross in Worcester. For their return game at BU, which may be tomorrow, both teams will need to play with masks. It is also part of the BU policy that both teams must play with masks at BU home games.

BU wears masks for all of its sports including both men’s and Women’s basketball.
DePaul and Creighton women’s basketball teams wears masks.

The NCAA has announced that the entire 2021 NCAA men's tournament will be played in the state of Indiana with most of it centered at various sites in Indianapolis (a few games games will also be played at Purdue and Indiana). Providence had originally been designated a 2021 host before the virus.

SLU has 5th A-10 game postponed as quarantine continues
By Stu Durando 3 hrs ago
"St. Louis University’s game next week against Davidson was postponed by the Atlantic 10 on Friday, ensuring that the Billikens will not play again until at least Jan. 20.
The home game next Friday will have to be re-scheduled along with the team’s first four A-10 games due to the team’s quarantine for positive COVID-19 tests, although coach Travis Ford has said he is unsure if dates can be found for all.
SLU’s next possible return is a game at Massachusetts nearly a month after the Billikens played Kansas City on Dec. 23.
Additionally, SLU has a game at St. Bonaventure that doesn’t have a date, leaving six games on the 18-game A-10 schedule up in the air.
The Billikens do have a bye week that was included in the schedule for make-up games, and the A-10 left the final weekend of the regular season open for those scenarios.
SLU is the only team that has not played a conference game. The Billikens are 7-1 and need to play a minimum of 13 games against Division I opponents to qualify for the NCAA Tournament."
They already had a total of 6 games cancelled or postponed due to Covid
I feel bad for St. Louis, this is their best team in years, and their future is uncertain.
Coaches have so much to deal with this year, so put that into perspective when making judgements about this season.

Sucks to have a hard stop when the team was rolling to start the season. Good news obviously is they took advtange of their opportunities and are on the right side of the bubble. Provided they can get back to playing sometime soon they likely just need to not have more than 1 land mine loss and they’ll be okayJersey77 wrote: ↑3 years ago SLU has 5th A-10 game postponed as quarantine continues

At this point, moving it to VCU would seemingly be a big advantage for us. Then again, maybe our "magic" there solely works against the other Rams.

Rothstein’s list is never right. Teams have canceled multiple games because of COVID yet they don’t show up on his list. I have no idea why or how he decides to share what he does, and he never corrects anything or explains. It seems like he should keep an accurate list or none at all, but he’s a bizarre guy.Jersey77 wrote: ↑3 years ago Programs on pause due to COVID:
