Who groomed Cox to be the next head coach? Who was it that lobbied for Cox to be the next head coach? Re: All things Dan Hurley/UCONN THREAD
Everything going according to plan for DH
Next year is year 3 and they probably are either in the dance or a top NIT seed
If no dance through Year 4 they probably get restless but I would bet they definitely make it by year 4
Great coach

The Big East is going to rue the day they let UConn rejoin. It will be like if Alabama was in ACC for football. Dan played it like a fiddle. Hats off.

It's for the group who thinks we "settled" after Hurley left URI. Hurley believes in Cox and this board blindly believes in Dan. Where, then, is the faith in Cox? That was my point.bigappleram wrote: ↑4 years agoWhat's your point? He looked out for his #2, like many bosses would do.RhodyKyle wrote: ↑4 years agoWho groomed Cox to be the next head coach? Re: All things Dan Hurley/UCONN THREAD
That may ultimately end up being the case, but UConn still has a way to go before I'd compare them to Bama joining the ACC. UConn has been down for a while now and they need to re-establish the respect they once commanded. The Big East is a much different conference now and UConn is a much different program than when it was ruling the BE. Every BE team has high caliber D1 talent and that conference is going to be a monster next year. Winning on a consistent basis in the Big East is going to be much more difficult than the A10 or American and Dan has not yet proven to be an elite coach by BE standards. Time will tell...

It's interesting that the Courant writer thinks the transfer rule will be passed this year.

Re: All things Dan Hurley/UCONN THREAD
I don't disagree, but it's been pretty on par with the AAC since the AAC started to exist. So while going to UConn may or may not have been a step up (now is due to them moving to the Big East), you can't say going from the A10 to the AAC is a step up.

Not at all. The money did not get put up. I think if we gave DH charter flights for all games and recruit visits, a new practice facility and a much bigger assistant coach pool, he would still be here, maybe. We failed to go big time and he saw it.ATPTourFan wrote: ↑3 years ago Is anyone surprised UConn is poised to contend for Big East titles in the coming years? Not me.

Re: All things Dan Hurley/UCONN THREAD
I’m happy for the players. Because of COVID shutdowns, they went through about a tough month-long stretch where they only played two games and had just a handful of team practices. Hurley teams need great defense to be successful and great defense needs time together to develop. I think their ceiling this season depends on Bouknight’s health, Akok being able to give them anything coming back from the Achilles tear, and Sanogo’s development. It’s kind of a lost year for Jackson, which is a shame.
I was looking through stats the other day and had kind of forgotten just how great defensively the 14-15 team was.

I think both Hurley and “you know” will both have their teams in the NCAA Tourney this year. Hurley may have a high seed too.NYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑3 years agoI think we coulda recovered, or at least contended with UConn if we had hired...you know....theblueram wrote: ↑3 years agoNot at all. Hurley’s only loss this year so far was to #8 Creighton in OT when Bouknight had a monster 40 point game.

Yeah that edition of the Rams was 13th best nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency per KenPom.

UConn extends Hurley through 2027. Deservedly so.
https://www.ctpost.com/sports/article/O ... 003694.php
So three years is enough evidence to extend a coach. Just not to cut one loose.

Other thing that was great to see - you CAN extend a coach before the season is over. Like we should've done with Hurley in 2017...NYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑3 years agoRhodyFanNotAlum wrote: ↑3 years ago UConn extends Hurley through 2027. Deservedly so.

Agreed!! After the 2016-2017 run we should have extended him right then and there! we waited a year to try and it cost us!Blue Man wrote: ↑3 years agoOther thing that was great to see - you CAN extend a coach before the season is over.
