Re: Week #2 Games of Interest
I might be a bit salty but is Providence a game of interest other than some of us hope they lose every game royally? By definition of the history of the "games of interest" threads these are all games involving A10 foes or this season's opponents. Providence by means of ducking out of the game this year is neither of these things. If we're going to include them, put an asterisk or something on them

Yes, I didn't quite understand that statement. I always root for A10 teams in OOC games. These wins would help our RPI. I will especially root for the Hoosiers to crush PC later today.KingstonLane wrote: ↑3 years agoQuite the opposite. You want A10 teams to succeed out of conference.

We’re really getting layers deep now, BUT in theory you also want PC to win. Then you want Seton Hall to beat them.Jersey77 wrote: ↑3 years agoYes, I didn't quite understand that statement. I see your point in that possibly helping our RPI down the road, but I will NEVER root for PC.KingstonLane wrote: ↑3 years agoWe’re really getting layers deep now, BUT in theory you also want PC to win. Re: Week #2 Games of Interest
Over the last several years I became pretty indifferent to PC...I couldn't care less about what they did other than that one game. I cared about as much about them as I did any other random NCAA team. It's pretty easy when you don't live in RI and don't have to deal with as much nonsense from their fans. But this crap about them ducking the game with little push back from anyone and lying about it, renewed my dislike of that school. I hope they lose every game they play. I'll become a UConn fan if I have to (sorry, Red).Jersey77 wrote: ↑3 years agoI see your point in that possibly helping our RPI down the road, but I will NEVER root for PC.KingstonLane wrote: ↑3 years agoWe’re really getting layers deep now, BUT in theory you also want PC to win. It doesn't, I don't know why anyone even references it anymore. It's not even an unofficial metric listed on team sheets like KenPom, Sagarin, BPI, etc.

I mentioned RPI by force of habit and a senior moment. It was actually replaced by NET rankings which takes into consideration strength of schedule.

I am usually king of the "Providence needs to win every game because it will make our SOS better" but yeah - this year they're of interest to me as I'm rooting for a 2-30 campaign.steviep123 wrote: ↑3 years ago I might be a bit salty but is Providence a game of interest other than some of us hope they lose every game royally? There is nothing more cowardly in this world than ducking an opponent. They are all pussies.

Exciting game, it was fun to watch the matchup in styles, Texas's athleticism vs. Davidson's discipline. Davidson should be nominated for the all United Nations team.

You could see Davidson finding a way to blow it from a mile a way.
If they were playing us they make both of those threes easy.
But in general, so many underdogs just shit the bed in that scenario. Its like an unwritten rule. 95 percent of the time the underdog will force a contested three in that scenario.

Indiana jumping out to a sizeable early first half lead 25-11 with about 8 minutes to go. PC looks a little lost out there.

It's early in the season obviously, but St. Joe's transfer Jared Bynum looks to be following in the footsteps of Luwane Pipkins.

Similar size and some of his skills, but not sure he will be quite as good. Indiana up at half 37-24.SmartyBarrett wrote: ↑3 years ago It's early in the season obviously, but St. Joe's transfer Jared Bynum looks to be following in the footsteps of Luwane Pipkins.

I'm glad PC ducked us...we don't need that kind of cupcake on our schedule.

Yeah I didn't mean it as a compliment, haha. 0-4 from three and 1 assist with 4 mins left in the game.Jersey77 wrote: ↑3 years agoSimilar size and some of his skills, but not sure he will be quite as good. Cheering for the A10...poetic justice if they lose to an A10 team the week they ducked out of a game with us!

Like everything else this year, the college BB season so far is wacko.
A lot of teams look great one game, and then the next they're awful. Or the other way around lol.

BC was down 13 to St John’s when I turned the game on with 2:00 left. Now down 2 with 0:45 to go.

BC didn’t quite make it over the hump. Plenty of chances to tie or take the lead in the final minute but couldn’t get it done.

The Seton Hall game against Iona tonight should be entertaining. We can scout Seton Hall and get to watch Pitino on the sidelines. This game shouldn't be close but still fun to watch.

Iona leads Seton Hall 37-35 at half. SH playing sloppy and outcoached by Iona, I should know better than to underestimate a Pitino coached team.
