On a personal basis this is quite a match up for the first game of the season: Fatts vs Remy Martin. Certainly one to watch closely.

Actually I don't think they're the same thing. They are both streaming channels, but anyone with a cable or streaming service that includes ESPN can generally watch ESPN3 simply by verifying their regular TV provider login, but I think ESPN+ requires its own subscription (either standalone for $5.99/month or bundled with Disney+ and Hulu).

Re: 2020-21 Schedule (top post is current)
Fatts has already been mentioned sort of as fringe superstar (national stage vs New England and A10) and Rothstein loves him...but if he takes Remy's lunch like he did to Tre Young his freshmen year, he wont be a fringe superstar with all the other pundits...Jay Bilas, etc.
Can't wait for tomorrow night, Go Rhody!

ESPN 3 is free streaming , as was said and ESPN + is a pay streaming service and many URI games will be shown on ESPN + the same as last season.

I hope not. I was hoping to watch a rematch. If this does happen, hopefully there’s a decent team that is scheduled to leave the bubble late next week and would agree to a game at the RC next weekend before heading home.SmartyBarrett wrote: ↑3 years ago Hearing whispers that Rhody’s second game vs BC is off. Isn't this somewhat similar to us pulling out of playing SFA & Towson for much better games vs ASU & BC? There is also something called the Roman Legends Classic at Mohegan on Tuesday and Thursday. First round is USC vs BYU and Vanderbilt vs UCONN. Perhaps there’s potential for a weekend game here. I think we know why it won’t be UCONN. BYU has a game on Saturday, so that’s out. USC and Vanderbilt don’t play again until Tuesday, December 8. If BC withdraws from our game, Thorr and Cox should contact USC and Vanderbilt right away.rhodylaw wrote: ↑3 years agoSAw ND was looking for a game at that time - make that happen instead.SmartyBarrett wrote: ↑3 years ago Hearing whispers that Rhody’s second game vs BC is off. Not apples to apples. Those games were one off games to fill out the schedule in the bubble. The argument could also be made that the URI game changes were being made per the Mohegan Sun bubble organizers. Teams were dropping like flies and URI would have lost its game versus SFA for Covid.

BC taking a game against a bigger name is exactly the same as we did (other than the fact they play in ACC and have a ton of good games).I also have no problem with it. No reason for BC to lose to us at home after they beat us on a neutral court. Schedule another game and move on.

Well I disagree on BC. we had an agreement to play. Now if they want to change and move next weeks game to 2022 and start the home an home next season in Kingston then that’s fine.

Re: 2020-21 Schedule (top post is current)
Yes , Seton Hall has a very busy schedule next week:
Per Matt Nolander:
URI coach David Cox told me Seton Hall got in contact to reaffirm its commitment for its game. That means Seton Hall's itinerary currently reads
— Monday @ home vs. Iona
— Bus Tuesday to Rhode Island
— Play Wednesday at URI
— Fly Thursday to Omaha
— Play Oregon Friday

Hopefully we can get at least 1 more game scheduled prior to playing Western Kentucky 12/13. I think the A10 was initially asking its members to keep 12/11 open for possibly scheduling an additional conference game, not sure if that is still the case.

Have no problem with a game this year given the circumstances. That being said this team doesn’t need 2 games a year committed to lower level D1 opponents. While convenient, better have flexibility to play up or equalRhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑3 years agoBryant has an opening the end of this week. Re: 2020-21 Schedule (top post is current)
We're going to have at least two lower level D1 opponents every year. I'd rather they take place against schools in RI than outside. Our media and area is very provincial, so they will naturally gravitate towards matchups against Brown or Bryant over ones against LIU and Manhatten (two teams we played outside of our tournament last year), etc. Play those games against RI schools and take the free media and publicity that comes with itKingstonLane wrote: ↑3 years agoHave no problem with a game this year given the circumstances. Not sure what good in state exposure does for the school/team. You want national exposure, everyone in RI is already aware of URI. Does it help them sell a few more tickets to a home game maybe, I honestly have no idea.RhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑3 years agoWe're going to have at least two lower level D1 opponents every year. Using KenPom's conference metrics to measure the conferences, teams 1-3 in conference 17-32 include the following teams:
Abeline Chrstian, Austin Peay, Belmont, BU, Colgate, Drexel, Eastern Washington, Fairleigh Dickinson, Gardner Webb, Grand Canyon, Hofstra, Jackson St., Liberty, Lipscomb, Mount St. Mary's, Murray St., Monmouth, Montana, Navy, New Hampshire, New Mexico St., Nicholls St, NJIT, Norfolk St., North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central, North Dakota St., Northeastern, Northern Kentucky, Omaha, Siena, South Dakota St., Southern, Southern Utah, St. Francis PA, St. Peter's, Stephen F Austin, Stetson, Texas Southern, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, UNC Asheville, UT Rio Grande Valley, Vermont, Winthrop, Wright St., Youngstown St.
Who on that list has national people going "I need to watch that ___ vs URI game?" or "We need to put ____ vs URI on national programming." The answer is really nobody, unless one of those conferences sparked a Top 25 caliber team, then there might be some interest. But I don't think people nationally care whether you play Vermont or you play Bryant.

Re: 2020-21 Schedule (top post is current)
All valid points. My comment was more in response to him saying we should be trying to drum up in state media coverage - I don’t see the point in doing that. Also on a smaller scale to what PC hates with playing URI, I don’t love playing in state schools who get up to play you like it’s their super bowl. Don’t think URI is any position to run from games, but just how I feel about things. Do you want to play Bryant or Brown who have this game circled on the calendar, or North Carolina Central who you’re just another game to?rjsuperfly66 wrote: ↑3 years agoI guess my counter-argument would be what kind of national exposure do you get from playing a good team in a bad conference?KingstonLane wrote: ↑3 years agoNot sure what good in state exposure does for the school/team.
