Agree. Impossible to read. We still will go wait to see what Fatts does and make sure Harris remains. Potential for nice front court and depth with Ousmane, Harris, the Mitchell’s and Walker. Thinking a shooter after Berry signs

Re: '19 Transfer C - Makhi Mitchell (Rhode Island Commit)
Been wondering about that, but more so how we figure out the playing time.
You have
JH
Twins
Walker
Abou
The way I see it, five guys playing 2 positions.
I know Walker is a bit of a tweener, but I cant imagine three of those guys out there playing at the same time. I mean, JH, Makhi, and Walker at the same time would be one big lineup that could potentially work.
Have a hard time seeing the minutes get distributed in a way that makes everybody happy.
Unless Abou is ok with waiting a couple years?
Not to mention, Toppin played some version of the 4 at times.
Good problems to have!
Dont want to lose anybody though!

Turnover will always be a part of the game. Embrace it. Someone will be unhappy. It will never be enough minutes.PeterRamTime wrote: ↑4 years agoBeen wondering about that, but more so how we figure out the playing time.

Hopefully Abou is okay developing a year or two behind JH. I think someone will be a RS.

If eligible, Makhi vs Nate Watson will be a hell of a battle next year.

Re: '19 Transfer C - Makhi Mitchell (Rhode Island Commit)
If Harris could actually, finally develop that outside shot and knock it down consistently, it would be a huge impact on the ability to play multiple bigs together at the same time. He's got to start to draw his defender out to him on the perimeter whenever he's out there. We've rarely been much of an outside shooting team, but for spacing alone you can't have 3 guys (and their defenders) operating in/around the paint.

Re: '19 Transfer C - Makhi Mitchell (Rhode Island Commit)
That is actually not accurate, given the existing rules on the NCAA website (and to be fair, I thought differently until I read them recently).
"Academic year in residence: Under the basic transfer regulations, you must spend an academic year in residence at the school to which you are transferring. If you transfer from a four-year college to an NCAA school, you must complete one academic year in residence at the new school before you can play for or receive travel expenses from the new school, unless you qualify for a transfer exception or waiver. To satisfy an academic year in residence, you must be enrolled in and successfully complete a full-time program of studies for two-full semesters or three-full quarters. Summer school terms and part-time enrollment do not count toward fulfilling an academic year in residence."
This in a separate section:
"For your academic year of residence to count, you must attend classes only at the school where you plan to compete and you must be a full-time student (generally at least 12 credit hours). You cannot meet this requirement by attending your new school part time or by not attending school at all."
My interpretation, unless the Mitchell's are currently enrolled in URI taking classes this spring semester, they would have to complete two full semesters (fall 2020, spring 2021) before being eligible to play in fall 2021 unless they were able to receive a hardship waiver.

Agreed, I have no expectation that the twins or Martin will play at all next season.

I did lol at the WPRI interviewer's statement though, that URI has been in 2 of the last 3 tournaments. Guess that is the silver lining to the season being canceled, now we haven't missed 2 straight tourneys?

Re: '19 Transfer C - Makhi Mitchell (Rhode Island Commit)
With the new transfer rule, "for the long term" seems highly unlikely....
In the 6-4 Berry, the Rams are adding a three-star freshman guard who, along with previous signees Ishmael Leggett and Elijah Wood, give the Rams a deep, highly-talented backcourt for the long term.

That teammate could very well be Jermaine. Also in another tweet Maria said the boys have gone from 250 last year to 225 now. Will be moving much better up and down the court!

If the vote on the no sit out rule is indeed postponed until January or later, then I think JH won't transfer.

Re: '19 Transfer C - Makhi Mitchell (Rhode Island Commit)
Their mom and the twins themselves seem to get it. No need to be selfish. Want to win championships? Want to make a name for yourself? Do it TOGETHER! You need a deep team to be able to go deep in the tournament. You need a deep team to withstand the grind of a long season. Guys need to be a TEAM!
EC, Hass, Terrell, Jarvis, Stan, Kuron...were all a team. Each guy got some individual notoriety of some kind while also working as a unit & being successful as a team. Different guys stepped up at different times in different situations. In the end, the team got notoriety, but so did each of them in the end. Stan was clutch in a few games. EC & Terrell shared the spotlight as Batman & Batman. Fatts made a name for himself by locking down Trey Young ("Don't do it to him Fatts!"). Hass was a shot blocking beast. Kuron in his final season was smooth around the basket. Jarvis was fearless. He ran that team and drilled big shots at big times in key games to keep momentum going. That kid was tough as nails.
Those guys knew what it took. It takes a TEAM! Kobe & Shaq needed one another, plus a clutch supporting cast like Odom to win titles. Jordan needed Pippen, Rodman, Kerr & others. We know Jordan. We all know Kobe. We all know Lebron, but also know the key guys that were around them too. Paul Pierce needed Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Rondo, Perkins, etc. They all played a key roll in the TEAM's success and each became a success themselves.

I certainly hope that the school has filed a waiver request for both twins and Martin.

Neither do a million other players who somehow still get a waiver.
There's no downside to applying for one.

I'm pretty sure the Terps coach "promise to do anything and everything to help them make a smooth transition elsewhere" or words to that affect, to appease Mom, in print. Time to cash one of those checks that his mouth wrote.

PROVIDENCE (WPRI) – Brothers Makhel and Makhi Mitchell are excited for their new journey with the Rhode Island Rams. The twins left the University of Maryland in December in search of a better fit and a winning program and in late March decided to play for head coach David Cox and URI.

Sorry if it has been stated - but has anyone seen if the Mitchell's are applying for a waiver for next season? Betrand story indicated he would be applying for a waiver. Obviously nothing close to a guarantee but why not take a shot.

Good - I think they have more of a shot at a waiver than most other players who seem to get them for no reason. I think Antwan would have received one if GTown player ball.

Are the twins eligible at worst after the first semester? Bill Koch's tweets yesterday made it sound like w/o a waiver they have to sit entire year.

This has been discussed, without waiver they wouldn't be eligible until 21-22
