Again, he still small. The twins are the much, MUCH better, more developed bet here. I won’t argue that Cyril wasn’t big, but that’s always been an issue for us. We need a TRUE C.

Re: ‘20 TN PF/C - Akeem Odusipe
I agree the twins are bigger and I would prefer the twins. Calling Akeem small is a little misleading. Akeem is taller than URI’s starting C’s for the last 7 years (Hass, Dre & Cyril).DC_Rams wrote: ↑4 years agoAgain, he still small. The twins are the much, MUCH better, more developed bet here. But wouldn’t you agree that they were all, I won’t say small, but undersized?Rhody83 wrote: ↑4 years agoI agree the twins are bigger and I would prefer the twins. Calling Akeem small is a little misleading. Akeem is taller than URI’s starting C’s for the last 7 years (Hass, Dre & Cyril).
I don’t believe any of them were TRUE CENTERS. Love them all though. Odusipe would be a great back up option.

I would have loved to have Akeem but there no longer is an opening at the position. I expect he will do decently in the future.

We got plenty of room for a red shirt freshman.

This kid is no red shirt candidate. He would be a great addition.
Bring him on and let the big boys fight it out for minutes.

Re: ‘20 TN PF/C - Akeem Odusipe
Only good things can be gained through a little competition. His game might be different from the twins and could be a better fit in certain situations. Also, he'll become a great player by having to face the twins in practice everyday. Also, will be a team poised to do great things like win the A10 and make deep NCAA Tournament runs. All positives.

If we add this recruit have to consider whether or not we're in some alternate universe.

Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear.
Good chance to get him now?
Didn't he visit with Berry?

URI has no room for a redshirt. As it stands right now URI has 9 eligible players to start the season and two players at the PF and C position both who get in foul trouble.

I know that his Guardian and HS coach felt that Rhody was the best place for him a month ago.
Not sure that is the same after the Mitchell twins and Abou. Also not sure he is a priority for Rhody any more.

I'm sure Cox has been talking to Harris about staying or going. Things aren't happening in a vacuum.
I would think that if Harris is leaning toward leaving, that Odisupe would be a priority.

Will we get another surprise today/tomorrow with Akeem committing to Rhody?
Nothing will surprise me after yesterday.
TJ told me in early March at the Prep Championship that URI was going to get both Berry and Akeem.
They are the only two Spring recruits that had Official Visits.

If Harris was thinking of leaving, he would be significantly hurting his transfer options by not being in the transfer portal now. Many schools are filling the open spots now with transfers.rambone 78 wrote: ↑4 years ago I'm sure Cox has been talking to Harris about staying or going. Things aren't happening in a vacuum.

R83, earlier this week you mentioned someone who never contacted you before said there'd be another signing in the next few days. Do you think this was Berry or do you expect another from that contact?Rhody83 wrote: ↑4 years ago Will we get another surprise today/tomorrow with Akeem committing to Rhody?

I think they probably missed on the player. I still think we've got a good shot at him.
The signing period starts Wednesday.
Hopefully our 3 new commits put pen to paper soon after that.

If we could sign this player, it would be the perfect end to a great recruiting season.
He has size, great hands, is uber athletic, rebounds out of his area, blocks shots and is pretty advanced offensively.
The energy he brings is awesome.
Tres - please recruit your friend to come to Rhody.

Wasn't Vandy one of the schools he was hoping for an offer from?
If so, doesn't look so good for us. Plus it's obviously very close to home.
As for Harris, I'm sure Cox is on top of that.

Re: ‘20 TN PF/C - Akeem Odusipe
We aquired the Twins after they left Maryland. We beat Vandy out for Berry (I think that was one of his offers). Now both schools are coming for Akeem. Intriguing. Can we go 3 for 3?
Lets go Akeem! He'll get some great work in against the twins in practice and become a stellar player for it. Then he'll get some good minutes as a result. Positive vibes man!

Re: ‘20 TN PF/C - Akeem Odusipe
Berry and Odusipe were teammates.
That's why I think we at least have a chance.
Ousmane left after we got the twins....didn't want to try to compete with them for PT.
Hopefully Odisupe is different and will look forward to the challenge. Maybe Berry can convince him.
I also think the staff had Akeem as a higher priority at one time over Abou.

Don’t be fooled by offers that show up on a recruits list from months ago. There wasn’t a commitment behind Vanderbilt’s offer.rambone 78 wrote: ↑4 years ago Berry and Odusipe were teammates.

Late offers tend to be with a commitment- Akeem’s from Maryland and Vanderbilt.
URI showed their priority to Akeem in a weird way accepting a commitment from Abou.

We could get Murray, Akeem, and who knows who else, and wonder how long they will be here.
It's hard to believe that ALL of our players who left were dysfunctional teammates.
Or could Fatts or Cox's deference to him be the problem?
Just guessing on that one, not saying I believe that.

Re: ‘20 TN PF/C - Akeem Odusipe
This line of thinking on Fatts just seems completely absurd. Guy averaged 19pts, 4.5ast (better than 2:1 ast-to), 3 stls per game while shooting with much-improved efficiency. AND we had a Senior point guard who was controlling the ball just as much as Fatts. Some of y'all are acting like Fatts was let loose like a bull in a china shop while every just stood around watching. This revisionist history is unbelievable. What evidence is there that Fatts just did "whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted"?Rhody15 wrote: ↑4 years agoThat’s what my thinking as been all along. The evidence is taking your back to back conference champ and back to back NCAA tournament winning point guard and moving him off the ball and giving it to Fatts.
The evidence is Fatts literally doing whatever he wanted in the Harvard game when he completely ignored Cox and did his own thing (yes he made the game winner.)

Re: ‘20 TN PF/C - Akeem Odusipe
Let’s build a shrine for a guy that has never made the tournament and can’t build relationships to keep any of his players to stay here. Fatts will be the next one to leave and if I had to guess Harris is next. Why would these guys stay? Everyone they have been around the past couple of years have left. Fatts isn’t making the tourney with this team. No chance. Harris has to be looking around and saying why am I going to stay here also.rhodyfan3000 wrote: ↑4 years ago If this guy get's Murray and Akeem on top of what he already recruited, they ought to build a shrine in his name on the grounds at URI.
